Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

HP is kind of meaningless without resists and armor... this is especially true for monk with so many heals. Lower HP + high reduction = better heals.

Still lacking in resists, but the AC seems to be fine. As it is, he is multiplayer only. Keeping people alive and absorbing damage isn't an issue (yet).

Quivers weren't touched. 12% is low on a quiver.

I lost about 20k dps and this was simultaneous with the nether tentacles nerf. I'm all for balance... but making sweeping changes that completely destroys your gameplay experience is too much. If I'm not enjoying my character anymore, then I'm done. Was hoping 1.03 would motivate me to play more but it's done the opposite. The xbow I paid 13.5 million for is now worth less than 4 mill due to the IAS nerf. The most mind boggling decision ever was for Blizzard to touch weapon itemization. Stupid stupid stupid.

My barb can faceroll inferno now... just need to spam the button for revenge and afk watch the NBA finals. Not very fun though. No real motivation to progress either since I've already cleared inferno. Sigh.

EDIT: Not sure how it double posted when I edited...

I was also going to say my 2h barb is doing anything but facerolling inferno. Still in act 3 and I plow through white mobs but 90% of uniques wafflestomp me. I'm thinking if I dont quit the game I might have to go back to S&B. I can still manage to do ok with my dh its just taking me about twice as long to kill shit which makes the game no fun :/

Use the 13 rule, 1 point of resist for every 13 pts of armor. Say you have 8k armor, you get more benefit from adding resist than armor until ~650 resist all.

You always get benefit from increasing resist or armor, but you might over allocate one and could have better survivalibility if you work to keep them balanced.

So what is the best place to get resistances then? Or should I say "place"
My monk was doing alright until last night after the new patch, granted he isnt very high and I just downed Belial in Normal. Ran into a couple of mob packs that normally wouldnt have phased me but these dropped me like an prom baby into a dumpster... Figured it was my resists that were killing me but wasn't sure. Guess I need to craft/look for/AH some new gear..

As far as I can tell, in total, there are only two TOTAL sources of gold destruction: repairs and the cut Bliz takes from IGG AH sales. So they increase the repair costs. It's a tax, pure and simple.

Don't forget about crafting and gem transmutes. The cost alone makes it very unattractive to try out unless you have a business plan going or if you have a lot of gold and feel lucky. Much like the AH, you don't have to participate in it, so I guess repairs are the only unavoidable gold sinks.

I doubt it is resists on Normal. Just get some Vit+Dex gear for now. IMO, resists aren't really a big deal until Hell, and especially in Inferno.

You don't need resists until late Hell. Inferno is were it really starts to matter. Just pick up some cheap dexter/vitality gear on the AH and a good set of high dps weapons.

Wow, first time I actually got pissed off at this game and slammed my fist on the desk. These god damn elites are pissing me off. I try to run away from them and they throw some stupid rock wall in front of me so I can't get away, then they just rape.

Does Blizzard have a trial version for anyone that doesn't have a guest pass? I heard a month after the game's release, everyone would be able to play the trial version.

The nerf to elite packs in inferno was a step in the right direction. The enrange timer on belial and the constant gas cloud spam from grom is ridiculous. I went from running belial in inferno with 5 stacks to being constantly blown up by his enrage timer. They must have the A team on pvp, and let whoever the fuck else code the patches.

Diablo 3 is getting to the point of being laughable. We are currently playing the Beta and maybe in 6 months they will get everything ironed out.

There is no A team.

Their changes remind me of a lewis black quote: “We didn’t do shit before, and now we’re like ‘Oh Fuck, we gotta do everything!'"

The "A team" at Blizzard is supposedly working on Titan. Atleast that's my final hope, and if Titan sucks then all bets are off and Blizzard definately jumped the shark. Supported them for years and they release Diablo 3 like this? They're basically ruining one of their franchises. Saddens me. Like watching a flower blossom throughout the years and now shrivel up and die.

RIP Blizzard

They're basically ruining one of their franchises.

This is what confuses me. What company would butcher their own franchise to get a pay out? the execs must be getting old and want to cash out? it just doesn't make sense. You'd think they'd nurture it to guarantee good D4, D5, etc sales. Maybe they're counting on getting those sales anyway?

I've had Belial down to less than 10% 6 times now and 6 times I've died immediately once those fucking vortexes or whatever spawn all over the place.

This is only impressive because prior to this patch I could barely survive to a checkpoint in Act 2, no joke.

It seems as though with the Diablo games, they get sweater with time. Every Diablo launch has sucked, but wait 5 years and the game is patched/polished. I really thought they would have ironed out this after experience with D2 and their cash cow, WoW...I was wrong. Blizzard has already sealed their fate in that I will never preorder/day-one purchase a game from them again..

Also many of the original Blizzard people, who worked on both D2/Warcraft and things left.

Most went on to form Arenanet (Guild Wars developers) and the short lived Flagship studio (Hellgate london).

IIRC a lot of them went to the team that developed Torchlight and is working on Torchlight II. Got my preorder in! For $20 it'll be worth it - Torchlight was fun!

Torchlight came from Flagship. (Flagship Seattle to be exact). At the time it was just a tech demo called Mythos. After Flagship disbanded, the team took Mythos and renamed it to Torchlight.

Hrmm didn't realize this new 1.03 patch I was waiting for was going to come with more DH nerfs... (Feels like its 2005 and I am playing my WoW Shaman all over again) Its not just the nerfs to my class of choice, but a combination of other things that has me officially at the "fuck this game" point. All these year development, months of beta testing only to completely change the core elements of the game I wanted to play in less than month after purchase. Sadly this is not a game I want to play anymore.

I do feel like I got my money's worth over 120 hours of game play, but the current development team is treating this game too much like WoW. And I have already wasted enough time playing that game.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. :)

I feel like almost every game these can throw around some big names/titles/companies, kinda like how movies do it.

Movies:
From the maker of that awesome move staring that guy who bought coffee for the academy awardwinner, and based on a book that was inspired by a story but is nothing like the story to begin with.

Games:
Produced by the makers of shooter X
With artists who were born when Y game came out
And developed by the guy that used to do accounting for company Z but came up with the name for it.

They seriously nerfed inferno! Who cares about DPS loss, the mobs are hitting like 15% as hard as they used to. (I'm not sure if that is the number, but it is crazy less.)

I couldn't kill soul lasher packs before, but now with the patch I killed a Arcane Horde Fast something pack without too much trouble. Insane.

I'm pissed about the magic find nerf on Happy Clouds etc. as I just bought a 300th spear for my set, but I guess shit happens.

I don't like the repair costs, but this is how they should have released the game.

You forget that Mythos is still alive and an active project. So Flagship didn't take and rename Torchlight, they made a new game.

Sure, HandiSoft took assets/name but Flagship Seattle turned into Runic and made the same game.

In case nobody knows this.. any blue that is ilvl61+, should be salvaged and not vendered for the most profit. The inferno essences sell for 2k+ on the AH(and they go fast). Most of these blues vender under 1k so its worth it.

So... how are you selling these? Seems the AH is still broken on everything but gear?

edit: nevermind, was in RMAH not GAH.

Crafting & Dyes - Crafting - Inferno - Exquisite Essence - Quantity: 100

As of this post they are going for 2055 per unit.

I'm gonna throw this out there, I can craft +6 property helms for WD and Monk. I'll craft for 25k + mats. Craft costs 91k, so 115k + mats. Same mats for either

i am so annoyed at this game right now. 190ms ping is not acceptible. Makes all my moves take .5 seconds to cast, and in inferno, that's long enough to get fucked by a swing.

rabble rabble.

what 'green' ping is everyone else getting?

I'm not a happy camper with the 1.03 patch. I couldn't pass inferno act 2 solo on my demon hunter because every range, one shot me. Now with this patch I was thinking I might get a hit or two before I die. Instead I am still getting one shotted and my repair bill is going through the roof. My only option is to play in public games or use the AH get my 1K two handed crossbow and be above the DPS curve. It's like they are forcing me to use the AH because farming Act 1 for two weeks with BARELY any upgrades is really getting on my nerves. But the good news is my barb will be decked out head to toe when he hits 60. Becuase that's all I get is barb gear on my demon hunter and barely any class specific rare.

that is a good bit cheaper than the link someone posted before. you should come up with prices using your mats.

I've noticed a startling drop-off in D3 population tonight... almost my entire friends list offline, only around 2000 public games. It was like 10K+ pre-patch. Auctions have barely moved at all though they sold within minutes previously. I can understand why people have stopped playing, this game has taken a sharp downward trend since 1.0.3.

Downward trend? Let me guess, because DH got nerfed?

It's only been a day since 1.0.3, stop with the hyperboles.

The best way to make this game more fun is to play hardcore. Making the switch from SC to HC has refreshed the game for me.
