alot of critical hit dam/chance and lots of strength is the most important, then decent all resistance and armor and life, all depends on your budget etc.... but u need to do alot more damage then that.

Cool, thanks :)

I already have my staff for Whimseyshire built. Last night at 3 am I was farming Act III Inferno (2) without any problems. As I was clearing the Ice Caverns (or whatever it's called) I encountered Chiltara. So I decide to be a good guy and ask in General chat if someone wants to come kill it. I have all chat channels off because Blizzard no longer bans spambots. I exited Ice Caverns stage 2 into Ice Caverns stage 1 to keep my scoundrel from soloing Chiltara.

As soon after I enter stage 1 I clicked the join General chat. I get an error that seemed to be about too many instances and booted me all the way to the login screen before I could screenshot or read it. I didn't even get to type a message in General chat as I was kicked the microsecond I said join General chat. When I go to login I keep getting wrong password, then sometimes it takes the password but says wrong authenticator code, over and over. 5 minutes later it finally let me back into the game.

When I enter Inferno (2) every port has elites that one shot me within .1 seconds of me entering them. They are literally standing directly on top of the portals. This occurs about 3 or 4 times and I just say eff it and logout.

Back to playing like a scrooge again. No more General chat for me! :)

Bought tal rasha's chespiece for 5mil, another 14k dps increase, up to 176k dps now. I'm really pushing glass cannon for MP4, DR sucks a lot.

So i finally hit the lottery a bit, got a yellow chest and a legendary fist weapon which got me to 18 mil.

Now my problem is that i don't know what to buy... there's too many options. I'd like to pickup more crit without dropping my skorn. Nat's is nice, but holy cow are they spendy.

Anyone have suggestions? http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/DukeLeto-1627/hero/801081

I am no expert by any means...but I would try and at least grab the highest ruby you can afford and put that in the helm...Focus on getting higher paragon levels...The higher paragon level you are the more you will see legendaries/set's drop. :) I just got to 33, and I can already tell a huge difference then when I was in the 1-20 range.

Only change it on the uber's to a Amethyst gem for the life.

I wouldn't waste money on that. Craft the highest you can alone without spending too much. You benefit more from pumping up damage as high as possible and racking up paragon levels that way. The little bonus he gets from a ruby is less beneficial in my experience than buying straight up damage upgrades. After all, the quicker he can clear the more exp he gets. That bonus xp is static. It doesn't ever change. Damage changes as he finds more gear or gets more gold from the auction house through sales. Also, he can just bump up MP level a notch and get the extra bonus that way. I used to use a ruby myself, but then found I lost a lot of damage, and I didn't want to buy a crappy hat just to chuck a ruby in it. I also didn't want to waste money on a side grade hat with a socket.

As far as upgrades, with 18 million you have more than enough to buy jewelry with max crit on them. You will most likely not have enough (very most likely not) to get crit/crit damage or crit/ias. But you should have enough to get one of the crit stats or ias +int/vita/resist all/random resist/ and if you're lucky also life on hit. Max crit for rings is 6%. It's 10 for a necklace. You will most likely have left over gold so you can upgrade your bracers to 6% crit as well, which is also the max for that item slot. Again, follow the same rules as the jewelry with int/vita/resist all/random resist. Maybe consider getting Inna's pants. They come with 1% crit, 8-9% increased attack speed, and 12% run speed. These will set you back the most.

EDIT: Forgot to mention your hat can use the same upgrade path as the jewelry and bracers. Hats max out at 6% crit.

Finally, if you really want to know if an item is an upgrade, use this site. http://theasiangamer.com/d3-damage-calculator/ ---do not worry, it's widely sited. There are no hacks or malware associated with that site. It pulls data directly from Blizzard api if I'm not mistaken. You load your battle.net profile to that site, and then you can tweak item slots to check how much something boost or reduces damage. It doesn't auto update though, so every paragon level means, you need to change the paragon level on that site if you want to stay up to date. It will reflect your damage as it is shown in game.

EDIT 2: random rambling. I play a monk. There's a nasty bug that happens every once in a while. It's rare, but happens a few times a day when I'm playing that it's annoying. On certain elite packs with crowd control like jailer, sometimes monks get stuck when using Dashing Strike, a mobility skill. Basically what happens is we end up dying, but not being able to release. We get stuck in place, can't move, and don't have a body or banner. The only way to fix this is to leave the game and make a new one or rejoin. No problem if you're playing with friends. Big problem if you solo to grind out paragon; you lose all your NV stacks. Anyway, this happened to me just now. I died and couldn't release. I was on a lasher elite pack in Keeper Depths 1. So I just sit there and watch. My scoundrel ended up taking down the elite lasher pack. The lashers never got in range because of the Windforce's knockback.

Had to have some amusement before leaving the game and making a new one. Scoundrel + Windforce = perma crowd control.

Wait...what? How is he doing more DPS with a Magic find gem in his helmet?

Oh...you are saying that he needs to spend it more on other things for DPS...got ya. It's not like he is a billionare and he is losing all his money on one gem...To me 18 million isn't going to upgrade his DPS near enough to warrant spending it over what he has already. But like I said I am no expert.

Either save more, or buy the gem to get more exp. imo. If you not, you will keep playing the AH game of barely upgrading your gear everytime but losing it in other areas, and never having enough money to get that good upgrade.

18 million is a lot considering his gear right now. It's enough to bump him several thousand damage which will make him a bit more efficient. It's also enough to get a bit more res at the same time. Less deaths mean he has less back tracking to do.

The only thing that could save D3 now is if they patched it back to D2...lmao.

Let me get this straight, people weren't finding legendaries, so they patched to increase the drop rate, yet all the legendaries suck ass anyway, so drop rate means...more suck-ass gear. No, wait...all you have to do is whip the credit card out and hit the AH, who needs to actually find their own gear anymore.

Hey Blizz, I know I can't get a refund, but how about $40...the difference between the $60 I paid for D3 and the $20 I paid for Torchlight 2 (which I've enjoyed far more than D3).

Clearly no good gear drops and all of us that have well geared characters dished out cash for it.

Where have you been? That was EXACTLY the problem with D3 (probably still is). All the good gear was on the AH, and 98% of the drops were shitty stuff you wouldn't equip at lvl 20, much less lvl 60.

Then people realized that unless you:

1) Farmed gold for ages
2) Bought gold from a service
3) Paid cash for items on the currency AH

You didn't have gear worth a shit. And it's still that way. They made D3 less about the drops and more about the AH, and I don't play to spend all day looking at gear I have to buy when I could be playing.

Yet another franchise ruined...

Pretty much sums up what D3 is ^^

1) I never farmed gold for ages.
2) I never bought gold from the RMAH or otherwise.
3) I never paid cash for items. I sold a few things on the RMAH on the other hand.

The only point I agree on is that you do have to use the AH to get gear, but that's also how you make your gold. Find a drop that sells that you can't use or don't want to use, and sell it on the AH; use the gold you made through the sale to buy your own character upgrades.

I'm not bashing your reply. People enjoy what they enjoy, and I suppose d3 isn't fun for you. I will say this though. The drops are much improved now. You actually can find decent gear in this patch. It was almost infinitely more difficult and much more of a rarity to find decent drops in 1.0.4 or prior.

I'd say give it another shot in this patch, but I don't think my reply or any other is convincing enough for ya.

It's not hard at all, and it was never hard. It's even easier now. Your problem is you want to have the absolute best gear with minimal play time.

That is never going to happen. Why? Because then what would keep you playing? What would the point in the game if every item you got was the best? Kind of like why the Torchlight 2 thread is dead, because there is no reason to actually play the game. How many people do you know who actually got to level 100?

But imagine that, you have to actually play the game to get gear. Who would have guessed. You can get better gear every day you play.

He doesn't like it, and will never like it. Which is fine, whatever floats your boat and all that. He just wants to come here and bash it.

I had a bonehead move last night. Found and listed a decent All Res/MF barb belt on the auction house before going to bed. Woke up this morning, saw it sold and realized it was an upgrade over the belt I was wearing at the time. Oh well.

But imagine that, you have to actually play the game to get gear. Who would have guessed. You can get better gear every day you play.

I have many, many hours logged in D3. Lvl 60, Paragon 24...absolutely ZERO of my gear equipped is from drops, I had to get it all from the AH. I mean, I really REALLY tried to gear up without going that route, but it just wasn't happening. I had to give in and outfit myself from the AH, or else I'd look like a damn joke.

I can say this much though. If you're getting better gear every day you play, you either have shitty gear to begin with, or Blizz performed a miracle with the new patch.

I don't understand why you have a problem with the gold auction house. There is nothing wrong with it. Using it isn't some hindrance to the game. When you loot that perfect Manticore would you rather be able to sell it or it just be trash because you aren't a Demon Hunter?

Personally, I'd rather sell it and buy a few items I need.

I have 120k dps unbuffed as a Monk, half the gear I'm wearing is stuff that dropped. Including my Vile Ward shoulders (268 dex,126 vit, 77 AR, 235 LPS, 631 Armor) which I could probably sell for 3-500m

Edit: If you have a problem with games having an economy you should probably stop playing online games.

Damn, nice Vile Ward. Only thing better would have been another resist on there.

Derailing the AH topic here a sec. Just had a 128 kill massacre. My new record.

Because all people are worried about is looting shit, selling shit, repeat 900 times. I'd say it is a hinderance to the game if I have to spend half my time in the AH looking for gear or comparing gear. At this point, people are done actually playing they're just in a frenzy over loot to sell on the AH. The game is pretty much same 'ol shit until an expansion comes.

I don't have a problem with games having an economy, but if you're saying D3 has an economy...yeah, sure I guess you could "call" it one. It's a joke at best.

Damn, just wasted 300k on the auction house for a worse helmet :D.

And the Skorn I bought for 1 mil wasn't worth it. Health went way too low, although the crit of ~265% was nice(total). If it doesn't sell I might keep it though.

Check one of my above replies for an accurate damage calculator.

I respect your opinion, and kinda understand some of it. But let me ask you this. What would you do different? And you still need to keep in mind this is Diablo...so you have to still have to keep with basics or its a completely different series.

Link the item you want to compare in trade chat, then create a game and click on your own link. It will show you the life/dps/protection comparison as usual.

Works well unless you're worried about someone taking it with buyout.

Then you are very much in the minority and not the majority. The vast majority of my gear is from the AH , I get shit for drops as well. I got over 6 legendary's last week and none of them were upgrades or even worth a damn (sold one of them for 100k , big fucking deal..).

You either get really lucky and get a 1300+ damage Skorn with a socket or you get shit rare's and horrible legendary's the majority of the time. I've never seen someone with a nice middle ground. Diablo 3 pushes you towards the AH and if you want to get gear without farming non-stop and praying for good shit you can actually use then you spend real money on gold to avoid the huge amounts of wasted time farming.

That's the problem with D3. The middle ground doesn't exist. Even if you get rare loot , its often something you can't even use or would much less want to.

Which is precisely why the gold auction house exists, so that when you get good gear that isn't something you'd use it has a purpose. A purpose that effectively gets you gear you choose.

It is really easy to search the AH in this patch with the search similar option.

I don't really understand your last sentence. By that argument the game was over once you completed normal.

Just found a perfect 200 str rolled IK hat with 6% crit and 6% damage reduction. The random mod was +armor.

Also found a rare ring with 117 dex, 60 vita, crit, crit dam, few other mods. Few million on that ring because of the high dex and vita, despite it not having perfect 6% crit.

EDIT: That's a 150 million hat right there. There are a few worse on AH for 100 million. The only one better is 266.6 million.

Seen that happen before to me as well. I've also seen goblins get hit by catapult stones in Stonefort. That sets them off running. I hate that.

Well, having random stats on items for one thing. I was hoping they would have static attributes, because as you can see by the legendaries especially, the same one can sell for 50k all the way up to 2mil simply because one has slightly more dex, str, etc. I like the way it added variety to the game at first, but then it just got ridiculous as time went on and more items dropped.

Well, it kind of was, because Blizz gave very little incentive to keep playing in other modes because the difficulty went up, but the drops didn't exactly scale with it. When I got to inferno, it was time for millions of gold and a serious overhaul in the AH. Drops I was finding just wasn't cutting it. But the weirdest part was where the hell were all these awesome rares coming from to begin with? The market was flooded with them, yet I had logged some pretty serious playtime and hadn't found anything worth a damn.

I agree with you Tantrix 100%. I don't even bother to list items on the AH. I just make alts and if something is worth a darn drops I send it to an alt. As far as getting money to buy gear I just vendor everything I pick up and buy item upgrades for cheap off the AH that are missing whatever makes another item great. So I end up with almost ok stats on my characters. None of them are overpowered when playing but they all function.

As far as your argument that D3 is basically over after you beat Normal once is almost true. The only saving grace for the game for me has been the Keywarden bosses as they have some semblance of a pattern and I have fun avoiding their attacks. I don't know about the Ubers as they require more gold than I want to farm to play on those Monster Power levels. I don't find D3 enjoyable enough to play that long in contrast to other games.

Main reason I'm still playing is that one of my nephews wants to see Inferno. He has a job that sometimes requires him to work 18 hour shifts so he can't play long. But he calls me and asks what is going on in D3 as far as changes and I like to have hands on experience answers for him. He's level 58 and hopefully he will have enough time to by January to get to Inferno. I already have saved a bunch of items to give him whenever he hits 60. To be exact I might just give him all of my Wizard gear and play my Monk.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/BoomBadaBing-1980/ That's my gear on my Wizard so far. Legendary is the new rare is my motto. So I just buy junk for cheap and make it work. The only thing I really would like to try is Echoing Fury with life steal + attack speed, but I can't find one that the auction ends for less than 500k. That's my limit for a piece of gear, although I've exceeded it for my chest and neck.

As far as specs go I try something different every zone clear and sometimes in the middle of a run. I refuse to play cookie cutter specs as I completely burnt out doing that in WoW. So pay no attention to my specs. :)

Pretty much every upgrade at this point is 2+ mill for me :(

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Demon-1735/hero/6850755

Nice Monk! What are the options for run speed if you didn't mind spending the money on it? After having 24% run speed on my Wizard I couldn't imagine playing without it. Try to bid on items. It's much cheaper than just buying them flat out. Just set your maximum amount you're willing to spend on an item and let the chips fall where they may. Many times you can get items that are much cheaper than the buyout price.
