Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

melee is just op. My buddy accidentally put it on MP10 once... we couldn't kill shit, but he still tanked it like a boss (i died a fuckton)

side-question: Has anyone purchased an entirely new set of gear for leveling paragon? (prioritizing +exp stats)

If you can find the right stats that won't hinder damage but also have +exp things, it will cost a metric f-ton.

I still feel that just boosting damage without sacrificing too much survivability is the best way to go for leveling paragon.

I found a nats ring this weekend with 4% crit and armor. Whats your budget? Maybe we can work out a deal that would benefit both of us?

Unfortunately I'm broke as fuck right now and only have 4m gold. I might be able to trade some of the stuff I have sitting around in my stash/AH if you are interested, but odds are you probably don't want any of it :( I'd be willing to trade either the Unity I have equipped or the other ring I keep around for when not using my Hellfire (6 crit, 31 CD, 313 LOH, 74 Dex) as well as other stuff in my stash.

You can feel free to add me and see if we can work anything out tehslippery#1869

Edit: Added part about rings

I'm the same way now. I just dropped 56 million on a 3.8k damage upgrade. Also got a bit more life on hit and more vita. I'm at the point now where I really need to save up because I cannot replace anything anymore without going into the multiples of tens of millions. 125.5k unbuffed monk though. I was at 93.8k unbuffed 2 days ago. lol

Gotcha. My buddy and i tried it on MP2, and we were not anywhere near as fast as when you were leading the charge (unsurprisingly, you're a monk with at the time 100k dps)

Would dropping to ML1 net us more xp?

Oh yea. It's all about clearing speed. I played at mp0 in act 3 for a while because I still wanted mobs at level 63. I played all the way up to mp5 before I was anywhere near as geared. It's taken several paragon levels to get a feel of what works and doesn't as far as leveling paragon is concerned (and finding items along the way). Basically, you want to be overpowered for the MP level you're on. If you're feeling a bit slower in MP2, dial it down to MP1. I may just now advance to MP3 after bumping unbuffed to 125k, because at this point I feel like I can clear MP3 as fast as MP2 before my bump in damage.

If I'm on and you want me to lead a few runs, lemme know and just send a message in game. If you're friend is on, we'll prob dial it down to MP2 instead of MP3. MP3 is prob not too bad duo, but three people slows things down a bit since mob HP goes up a lot more with 3 people over 2.

Pro monk tip: Tzo Krin's Gaze is like baby Mempo of Twilight. You can find one with 6% crit and 7% increased attack speed for a million or less (bought a few for 300k at one point). There's no resist and no socket, but the boost in damage is substantial, a lot more than an Inna's set monk helm that spawns with a lot more dex. If you're gonna end up getting two piece Inna's for the monk, skip the hat. The hat sucks so bad it's not even funny, unless you can get one with resist. But you can always make up resist elsewhere. The damage boost Tzo has over Inna's hat is still a ton more. Two piece Inna's is only good for the +130 dex and if you can 1) afford the items and 2) can afford to lose some of the potential resists that rare pieces can have for the same item slot. Pants and chest IMO is the best set up for Inna's. The chest can have 6% damage reduction which converts to several hundred in armor rating.

Best line ever!:D

I have a DH friend that spent less than 5 million and broke 130k damage unbuffed without Sharpshooter. I spent over 250 million in this patch alone and only have 125.5k unbuffed.

Granted, he can't take a hit worth a damn, but he's not supposed to. He's supposed to reach out and touch people...from far away.

He also has some gear I gave him when I replaced my monk gear. OK fine, so he has like 40 million worth of gear from what I gave him, but still. Ridiculous how his output skyrocketed on the cheap.

Damn trying to get back into the game now and I have no idea where to go lol. I guess I'll just try MP0 A3 runs on my monk...I used to get steam rolled in A3 so we'll see how I do now....

You will be pleasantly surprised. I quit inferno in 1.0.3 a few quests after killing Ghom. Back then Ghom was a bitch. It felt like a WoW raid encounter. You had to have precise execution or get choked out by his poison fart clouds. I had like 35k damage back then.

I breeeeeeeeeeezed through mp0 inferno once 1.0.5 released with the same crappy gear I had. It was so easy.

You can try Act1 if you fare better there; the drop rates/ilvl drops have been harmonized across all acts. MP2 gives you the best "bang for your buck" IMO, as MP1 gives 1% chance for an extra rare drop, MP2 gives 7%.

They nerfed Inferno outside of the MP levels, so you should be OK at a low MP level in Act1.

Cheers mate, i'll definitely hit you up. In 2 more paragon levels, i will have over 300 MF on MP3 in my dps gear.

I'm stoked.

Nice on the hellfire ring, I would LOVE to roll one w/crit chance. So far every one I have made has either gone to a follower or been broken down at the blacksmith (is there even a chance of getting a brimstone??)

Great gear, but man, your health pool

It took over 20 rings before I got that ring, and all rings before it were shit.

Force Armor + life regen + life steal for the win. I can beat down Level 8 Ubers with only 13K health.....Just have to make sure I don't get hit 4 times in a row without attacking back to regain my life.......Which Pretty much means Avoid Kool's tornado's at all cost.

Just curious, but what MP level are you farming at? If I'm not mistaken you're pretty decked out and decently high level paragon. I only have 121k unbuffed/140k buffed as a monk, and can only do mp5 solo but with more deaths than I want. I still stick to mp2/3 for just paragon farming. Legendaries still drop quite a bit even in the lesser MP levels for me. Usually, I can find a few things that I can sell on the AH.

I still don't have a hellfire ring. I have 8 machines though. lol

I can push through MP6 with some deaths until I hit damage reflect. I ran in to a damage reflect extra health fast demonic terror yellow pack in MP6. I said fuck it and left.

Key parts in MP5 are quick at least for act 3. I haven't farmed other keys yet. I usually hit keep3 and 2 up to the resplendent chest, then port to stone for and have little trouble along the way. I haven't tried the other acts yet since I'm not in any rush to try ubers.

I did a full act 3 clear in MP2, and I think that is optimal for me in both exp and legendary drops. I still need more def to survive dr at higher levels without being slowed down too much. I've been too lazy to time things for exp rates, but facemelting MP2 is always a blast so I'll probably stick there for non-uber farming. With NV in that MP2 full clear I was around 300mf total, I found 1 legendary and 1 set in that run. Both were crap, but 2 legendaries per full clear isn't bad in my book.

I don't know how many Tormentors, Tzo's Gaze, Sledge of Askelkelkelkeng and Dawns I can get but if it were a competition I'd definitely be near the lead.

I dunno why that made me laugh. I found two Tzo's in one run once and two Andy's in two runs. Only found one Askel. I have it on my enchantress on my alt.

I've only seen the chest in Keep 2 twice or three times in 1.0.5, and I've been doing Alkaizer's route since forever.

Not every time, if I don't find one, I stay in keep2 until I hit 5stack or reach a dead end.

I'm curious but when people say "full act ___ clear" what do they actually mean? You said you do a full act 3 clear. Does that mean you star from quest 1 in act 3 and go through the entire act?

I start on kill azmodan quest, but run through every zone. I don't backtrack much so I may skip some areas, but get pretty good coverage. I go through like I'm going in order of questing, but don't have to waste time with quest dialogs. I clear all the optional areas like icefall caverns and barracks. I finish off with azmodan since he's like a 30second clear.

The alkalizer method is probably faster for exp, but for legendary drop rates full clears might be better. I don't have enough empirical evidence to back that claim though.

Just hit paragon 40 and tried mp3. Alkaizer's route doesn't include Stonefort since the Infernal Machine wasn't implemented when he was leveling. I include Stonefort when I do Alkaizer's route. An MP3 run takes me ~30 minutes. I'm guessing an MP2 run shaves a few minutes off that. I haven't done MP3 in a while, so it'll be interesting to compare with the drops I got in MP2.

I've been running MP3, I don't notice any slow down in killing performance with 56k unbuffed DPS.

MP4 though is too high to be efficient.

Btw, what is Alkaizer? lol.

Alkaizer was the world's first level 100 paragon. This was before the monster power level system. 14 days after the paragon level system was released in 1.0.4, he was level 98. The route he took is as follows:

A3 Farming Route
Log out with Q "Kill Azmodan" directly in front of him (Checkpoint). Each run will start directly before Azmodan.

1. Clear Core of Arreat to the WP
2. WP to Tower of the Damned lvl 1, do one circle
3. WP to Arreat Creater lvl 2
4. Teleport to town, WP to Bridge of Korsaikk, clear Fields of Slaughter
5. Teleport to town, WP to Keep Depths lvl 1. Immediately enter Keep Depths lvl 2 and clear it.
6. Teleport to town, Log out, Resume Game

Oh god I feel like an idiot. I thought it was a boss mob or something that was added in. No wonder wiki searches turned up nothing. Should have just used Google first instead of using a d3 wiki site :p:D

Same here. I am a very casual gamer now and noticed I spent over 50 hours on the game since the latest update. I would just do the key quests to get really used to the maps again.

My next upgrade I think will be the Inna's pieces so I can get my vitality up. The rest will cost a lot more because I need to look for other stats as well like resists and things. The Inna's pieces aren't for resistance on my monk.

My offhand fist weapon was a steal at 1.5 million buy out. I've compared it with rare fist weapons on the AH that go past 200 million; it's still more damage even compared to the ones with crit and open sockets. If I remove that fist weapon, I lose 44k damage.

I'm maxed out on crit chance too. The only way to boost it would be 2 pieces of Nats, but that's too rich for me right now. Today's an off day. Haven't found anything worth while to sell.

Hmn just snapped a WKL for 250k which raised my DPS to above 60k unbuffed, not bad.

Now just need a better main hand

So is this game worth coming back to now that its been patched with content a couple of times?

Some of the mechanics have changed. And loot drops are more plentiful. However, the core game hasn't changed. So if you didn't like loot grinding before, you won't now.

I won a 10m monk set give away last night and I have been having a blast in 1.0.5

Still not sure how to really farm MP's. I do MP1 Alkaizer runs okay. MP2 and I start dying to bad elite packs :(

2 ways around this. The first method is considerably cheaper.

1) Pack on more resist, vita, life on hit/lifesteal

or

2) Sacrifice some of the survival stats and bump damage til you overpower everything.

You can do mp2 with a budget of 3 million and only 35k dps as a monk.

Once you get more gold, you can work on everything at once, survival and dps. But that is very very expensive.
