Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I leveled a barbarian to 60 to see what all the complaining was about. It was pretty smooth up until Act 3 of inferno. I killed Belial on my first try which felt pretty good, as he murdered my wizard quite a few times. I've spent roughly 700k at the auction house so far which isn't too bad.

That said, I think I found the gear wall for this guy. Getting smoked far more quickly now. Guess I have to go back to the wizard to farm gear and money...

Sounds about right. You need tons of gear for melee past act2 heh. People in act4 inferno have gear worth millions.

i just beat belial last night on my wiz with 39k dps, 14k health, and 250-300 all res.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#ZROSXm!YXW!bbYZac

phase one, pop DS and drop a hydra. run all the way to the right corner and pop archon, and never move again. just hold down disintegration and kill them as they spawn.

phase 2 - finish off whats left of archon, then throw down a hydra and DS, and lay into him with ray of frost and dont let up. tank through his melee attacks, and try not to move at all during his venom strikes. with 35k-ish dps, hell be dead about the time the vipers start showing up.

phase 3 - stay down in the lower right area, and just dodge his attacks. keep DS and hydra up, and hit him with RoF when you can, and hell go down pretty quick. the hardest part will be dodging his huge explosive attack thing.

and have your templar out, and fully specced for healing.

anyone else getting huge amounts of lag?

latency bar is fine, but my fps has tanked to the 20's out of nowhere.

is it just me?

edit: seems to have cleared up.

i dont mind helping someone kill belial act 2 inferno if you are stuck, hes pretty easy for my monk.

holy god damn... i had the worst pack possible guarding the keep lvl 2 entrance in act 3 inferno.

soul ripper - molten, jailer, teleport, fast.

fuck that.

Try mortar, arcane, jailer, vortex, fast or mortar, arcane, jailer, waller, fast.

Got any tips for the monk in general? Because the moment I got into Act2, I got shitfaced and can't progress very far, and I'm slowly getting tired of getting killed every 10 seconds.

31k HP, 7.5k armor, 20k dps, 350 resists all. I don't have a very good gear either (my weapon is a generic 850dps fist weapon). I recently managed to get a 1607 armor shield with 21% block rate which helped somewhat, but that's really the only piece of equipment worth a damn that I got. :p

reroll a W or DH and have fun.

Resists seems kinda low. You get best bang for your buck when %mitigated is pretty close between armor and resists.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0Ag4BdvmMzezudEFJTUpBYU54aFZCX3JlcHhqSVhwOEE&output=html

At 7.5k armor and 350 resist, each point into resist is equivalent to about 17 points of armor. When you're close to the 13 armor per point of resists, you have a better balance of resist/armor allocation.

You could probably sacrifice some DPS for mitigation. As melee your dps will have to suffer for survivability, but with enough effective health, your true dps goes back up because you can stand and take it like a man.

any wizard that isn't go full DPS is full retard.

YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

120k DPS wizard. I melt through inferno (I only play coop/MP, no solo homo here).

The wizard is at his most effecient and deadliest at full DPS. ( this should be obvious to any W that has used their toon for longer than 15 minutes.)

Sigh this is why inferno is getting nerfed so All the noobs can now farm Act4. I guess I cant go on making 15 million a week farming Act4, we let Forest Gump get a degree in Alchemy, GG.

Happened against about 30mins ago. 1300ms ping spike. You'd think 2am EST would be off-peak hours, but then I'd be guessing wrong.

Care to post your gear? Curious what you are using.

Right now I am heavily OVERGEARED. I have sold much on the Gold AH to make myself overgeared. I have sold 3 items on the RMAH for quite a bit of money.

That being said I started the game as a Monk and lvl'd him to 60 before I rolled my wizard.

It became easy to farm Act3 Siegebreaker and Act4 as a Wizard with roughly 75k+ dps and over 15% movement speed, attck speed over 2.45. ( I know they are nerfeing attck speed, but I have A lot of crit gear for backup).

Act2 is by far harder for range classes than act 3/4 (except soul rippers).

I would recommend to get 80k Damage + roughly 20k hp or less is fine unless you have 8k armor or 1000 resist (but then you do ZERO damage and you are useless as a Monk).

GO full damage as a W, aim for about 80-100k damage, attack speed @2.5 ( or crit chance 35% and crit damage 200%) and you should have ZERO issues with act4 ( where you get those 1200+dps weapon drops w/3+nv stack constant).

TL;DR W go full dps.

It's so bad for me that I can't get around corners so I logged out after 2 hours of fighting the lag. It got so bad that all I can do is watch my monk's fire pet solo immune elite packs. He's pretty OP in nightmare Act I.

Both of my lvl 60 characters suck.
Monk with 30k HP and 14k damage, attack/sec of 3, 21% movement speed.
DH with 25k HP and 21k damage, 2.9 attack/sec, 25% movement speed.

Both have glass jaws, 1 hit and I'm dead.
The DH tears apart anything in Hell, just dies in the first mission in Inferno.
Monk was level 60 by the middle of Nightmare, so I've been working her through Hell.

If anyone is looking to refund or quit the game, I would be willing to compensate you for the game serial + your time.

I lost my account due to an issue with my WoW annual pass. When I tried to buy a new serial, my characters are gone. I called into Blizzard and there's no resolution except for me to start over.

thats what I did... I have a monk parked in act 1 of inferno where as long as I dont roll a ROUGH crowd I can slowly keep progressing but I spent like $100k+ on a big red stone for a helm and have been wearing it with my wizard to get the 24% exp booster. I'm around lvl 53 and act 1 of hell which I was barely 50 on my monk so I'd like to think that stone got me those 3 extra levels which made every level a little easier. I'll keep wearing this rock until I hit 60 then AH the rock and pick up a %life one for helm or just move the stone to my DH and go from 43 to 60 as quick as I can. From what I've seen though the wiz seems to be the best right now so thats why I started from scratch on a wiz instead of taking the DH at 43 that was my first char.

If you want to level up fast, just keep running the wretched witches mission.
100k+ exp for each lap. Took my monk about a minute and a half, maybe 2, per pass.

I ran the first section of the lighting of the fires at bastions keep in nightmare first, till the xp wouldn't go up for the kills. Just killed monsters and restarted the mission over and over.

Another quick one is the short walk to kill belail, you just kill all the snakes and the elites at the end and then restart, 60k+ in about 90 seconds.

What difficulty? Hell? I just ran through the wretched mothers quest on normal and got less than 2,000k xp including the xp you get for finishing the quest.

My friend has been powerlevelling me at the siegebreaker. Starting at the bridge and working our way to the siegebreaker himself. Takes about 15 mind a rub, and I gain a level each time

Lawl I powerleveled myself by playing from level 8 to 35 last night. I just followed the quest line and didn't try to open up every area on a map since I've seen it all before.

Its pretty easy to solo level from 15 up

-Buy a bunch of socketed items for cheap <5k each
-Buy 2 Flawless Square Ruby for helmet and weapon < 1k each
-Buy Flawless Square (your main stat gem) for everything else <1k each
-Find IAS or + damage rings and amulet
-Find IAS gloves
-Follow main quest only so you progress to higher and higher level monsters

This shows where its best to level up per act because you can get up to 125% experience for killing higher level monsters (but make sure you can steam roll them, taking 5 min to kill a normal mob 5 lvls higher is not fast exp). Staying in the same place over and over yields less and less exp. Just buy some gear for cheap on the AH, and keep pushing through.

http://gaming.stackexchange.com/que...mines-how-much-experience-you-get-from-a-kill

Also running with character more than 5 levels apart starts yielding diminishing returns for exp. So if you were being boosted by a 60, even though you're steamrolling it you're getting approximately only 5% of the max exp you can get.

Both of my lvl 60 characters suck.
Monk with 30k HP and 14k damage, attack/sec of 3, 21% movement speed.

You must've been in Nightmare for a long ass time to hit 60 in there. With the diminishing returns for being the upper 50s in nightmare, you'd be getting like 1-5% of total experience per kill

I got my first unique last night and it was a pretty worthless mace I'd be lucky to get 100k out of it. still no set pieces monk in mid act 1 inferno, wiz at 55 in act 2 hell and DH at 44 so I've spent a decent chunk of time...

somehow these uniques all sell for way more than a similiar spec rare. I just started using a 400+ DPS unique wand but thats because I got it for 100k and knew I could resell it for that its a smarter investment most of the time

I have a 60 barb, wizard and DH into inferno act 3 and I haven't found a single legendary. Don't feel bad.

How are you people surviving with Wizards with less than 20k HP in Inferno? I have a Wizard in Act 2 Hell, level 54, and at 21k HP I was dying all the damn time.

I just upgraded three pieces of gear and now I have ~28k hp, 6000 dps, 135 resist all, etc at level 54. I have a 250 dps 2 hander so not the best, but I seem to do enough damage, I just die very fast if I get surrounded.

Am I gearing wrong or something? Or does it get easier to survive with less HP once you have better gear with more armor/resist all?

When mobs 1 shot you in inferno, you decide that going a pure glass cannon build is preferable since you're always gonna get 1 shot. At least that's how it was with my demon hunter.

makes sense. If you have 20k hp and get one shot, why not put EVERYTHING into dps? 1hp isn't any different from 20khp if you are getting one shot.

But that's the thing. I am not even stacking HP (I have one +vit gem, and the +12% life gem in my helm), the rest of my HP is purely from gear. Are you just not equipping any gear with +vit at all? Even with those removed I'd have close to 20k hp, so I am not sure how someone has 14k at level 60.

I don't understand the pure DPS wizard builds. How to you handle reflect damage? Do you just die to a single mortar and body zerg?

If you have decent resists and use Energy Armor - Force Armor, you can take 3-4 hits (depending on regen and potion use) if you have enough initial health. If you use diamond skin and illusionist, you can take a hit and teleport away with no loss of health.

DPS is a wonderful thing, but only if you have the gear to properly use it.

As a W it is better to stack DPS and burn everything down before you even get hit.

Obviously their are packs of elites that everyone is having troubles with (invul, reflect, soul rippers). But if you can get 100k dps on your wizard you will melt everything before it can hit you.

Attack speed and venom hydra/blizzard with MM/charged and Arcane orb/tap the source, Magic Weapon/force Weapon, Familiar /Sparkflint.

Roll through inferno (this is not a solo build. Solo is boring IMO).

I prefer the "boring" well-rounded build personally. My dps and defenses are ok and I particularly like surviving big hits. When stacking vit gems, I could take a direct hit from Siegebreaker's charge with plenty of health to spare whereas it would 1-shot me when I stacked int gems. With diamond skin, it barely did any damage at all. My gear has slightly improved since I last did that test and now I can just barely survive a direct hit with all int gems. It's amazing what a difference ~11k-12k health can make with all the mitigation and force armor factored in.
