Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

How many more of these games do we need before people stop saying "X card is overkill for 1080p" ?
Titan XP is pulling 63 minimum. That's a $1200 card to just barely stay over 60fps.

This runs like total shit though, you shouldn't need a Titan X to run 1080p at maximum quality.

According to other posts, bumping down the Lighting and Shadows one notch clears up framerate issues with no "noticable" impact on quality.
At what point do we draw the line between future-proof graphics options vs unoptimized games? Isn't it challenging to tell the difference? We had this discussion about ME: Catalyst a few months ago.

Nixxes could have capped the settings at lower values (Ultra = "High"), performance would be MUCH better, and we'd be talking about how great the game runs.

Obviously you have to judge if the IQ is worth the performance hit, but as you can see in the review even at Medium settings the game is stupidly taxing with sub 60 averages on a 1070 and 980Ti. Ark runs like total ass at max settings but that's in early access, and it looks far far better than this.

Here is how it looks

Don't have the game and not really planning to buy, but might want to check in the cfg files, could be able to turn it on?
Settings are in the registry for some god awful reason. I enabled it in there and it doesn't do anything. Have to wait for the patch.

Exactly what I'm getting, and it's repeatable. Actual gameplay is 60-80 FPS, still very smooth.

I noticed that the CPU isn't being highly utilized (around 40-50% across all 8 threads). That will probably change with DX12.

PSA: there are about 10 minutes of cutscenes after the intro mission :rage:. Could probably skip them, but wanted the story.

Unoptimized junk that doesn't even look that great. It's like they took the worst parts of the original Crysis and forgot about the amazing graphics

You have to see it live in motion. Models don't have the highest fidelity, but all the lighting and particle effects combine to make the game very immersive.

Unoptimized? Do you have anything to back that up besides people on mid-range hardware complaining that the game doesn't run well on the highest settings? With appropriate settings I'm sure the game would run smooth on a wide range of hardware.

You're not even getting constant 60FPS with the highest performing GPU ever, and if you look at the benchmark people struggle with 980Ti's/1070's and 1080's. If that's midrange hardware, well then I don't know what to tell you.

Oh god, more news about deus ex mankind divided.

It looks like ledra or razor hacked into the game code before launch and put in an r9 radeon card being used as a heat lamp.

That's hilarious, probably a reference 290X/390X

Come on you have to draw the line somewhere, I understand if at Ultra there are some really taxing options being enabled, but here what you have is the game running badly even at medium settings. Come on. Medium settings at 1440p and it's ~58fps for a 1070 with minimums in the low 40s. You'd expect it to be performing better.

Yikes. Looks like this one will be pretty tough on our hardware at 4k resolutions.

Trying to decide if this will be a game I can live with playing at 30fps...

I think I will see if DX12 makes a difference before I pick up this game. Seeing as I have a 4k monitor and a single 1080.

DX12 helps improve lower resolutions where you are more likely to be CPU bound, and can actually have the OPPOSITE effect at high resolutions.

I'm running Very High preset with CHS off, Ultra textures, High shadows, sharpening off, chromatic aberration off

Getting 45-50 FPS at 4K with Pascal Titan (not in the benchmark though, but it seems way more demanding than the actual game so far and I'm at the city area now).

I would say you are probably right. That is why I'm holding off. Shame as I was really looking forward to this.

Well, I wouldn't find 30fps playable in a multi player game, it can be tolerable in a single player game, depending on the game

Look at how the how the cards are supposed to stack up. Remember the Nvidia FE tax doesn't mean that a card suddenly went up a performance tier; it was just overpriced.

980ti goes for below $350 which puts it into upper midrange. 1070 is a 980ti thus upper midrange. 1080 is a way overpriced 980 and I considered the 980 to be high end last year.

Notice that the 1080 which I consider to be a high end card is above 60 fps in everything but Ultra 1440p. Guess what? The lighting in the game looks to be killer from the videos I've seen. Thus drop the lighting and shadows down a notch and enjoy yourself!

Here is fps from Techpowerup on Ultra and then High. Frame rate looks acceptable to me. Stop listening to the doomsday disciples. ;)

Yeah, I don't think DX12 will be an improvement, but I'm hoping that further game and driver optimization over the next few months will, so that when I am ready to buy and play it, it will runn faster :p

So nothing changed. The 6 months delay was way too little.

No wonder they added microtransactions and locked DLCs and microtrasactions to save games so you need to rebuy when you start a new one. Because this game isn't going to last long.

Having no issues running this game on a single 970. 60FPS on High is my goal and this game delivers it..

Now if they would fix the dam mouse sensitivity.. Its so high.. even on 0 !!!!!

Seems to be the biggest complaint. Another guy listed more stats on his mouse and that he had to run @ 6%.

First patch.

We have just released the first PC patch for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, v1.0 build 524.7. This patch focusses on critical issues users ran into immediately following release.

This patch will be applied by Steam automatically when you next start the game. If your game does not update, please restart the Steam client or manually look for updates in the Windows Store.

The following fixes are in this patch:
• Fixed crashes caused by third-party programs interfering with the game.
• Fixed crash that occurred after viewing the intro videos.
• Fixed issue that could cause a crash at the end of the Prague intro scene.
• Fixed mouse invert setting not being displayed correctly in the options menu.

What the hell are you talking about?

What part? Feel free to correct it if anything is wrong :)
None of that has any impact on the core game. Even the pre-order bonuses are single-use, single-save items. It's a fully fleshed out game. It has a season pass like other major AAA titles but the game is not in any way built around microtransactions.

Are you saying there isn't any microtransactions?

He's saying the game is not built around microtransactions. It's not a FTP game. It plays and feels like a full game should. Even if there are microtransactions in there somewhere it doesn't affect gameplay. You don't need it to progress.

Seems to be the biggest complaint. Another guy listed more stats on his mouse and that he had to run @ 6%.
I'm running my mouse at 800 DPI, 1000 Hz polling rate, and I have the mouse sensitivity set to 6%. Doesn't seem like there is any acceleration going on, positive or negative, but there is definitely mouse smoothing and it is pissing me off. It is a complete mystery to me as to why games in this day and age do not include a RAW input option.
Can anyone comment on the gameplay.
There is a thread in the PC Gaming subforum. This is the Video Card subforum, so discussion is going to be about graphics.

Just bump the settings down?

THIS! SO MUCH THIS! I don't understand the big deal about reducing your settings. It's like people expect paying $1200 for a card should suddenly mean you have an all access pass to Ultra settings land. I remember games like Crysis being released with ridiculous settings that couldn't be attained with enthusiast level hardware of that generation and required 2 or 3 GPU iterations to be playable at 1080p 60 FPS. So before we start screaming "UNOPTIMIZED PIECE OF SHIT!". How about we just tweak the settings a bit? I lowered my shadows, SSAO, turned off motion blur (vomit) and chromatic ab (eye vomit) and now I have no problems running 2560@60 at almost all times.

Now if I could only figure out how to turn off this god awful fucking mouse acceleration.

I had SLI 8800GTX and I didn't cry just because I had to run high settings at 1600x1200 in Crysis...

The game is not consistently good looking but you can tell there are a ton of fancy effects being used.

My titan xp runs it fine with everything maxed. In game FPS so far are 80-90 fps compared to 63 avg in the built in benchmark.

I may back off a few visually useless settings to get it consistently over 100

A lot of the shit they added seems like AMDs version of Nvidia adding a bunch of overly intensive eyecandy to make their GPU more appealing. The Division had the same shit, disable 1 or 2 things and suddenly your FPS doubles. The game looks nice but definitely not worth running some of those settings. The shadows in particular, there's this one setting I can't remember that blurs shadows and makes them more realistic? I turned that shit off and now I have sharper shadows which I prefer and a 30% performance boost.
