Destiny - Discussion Thread

In crucible currently they already have all the armor to compensate for their speed, they take way more hits from me to die and they usually just barrel thru me with their passives. When iron banner comes out I will guarantee their armor and damage output will far outclass the other two when armor actually matters. Their extra shield is a god send. Their charge is also pretty damn amazing to use.

They are basically a tank in this game (but still fairly mobile). I have gone against many good titans and they are almost always near impossible to kill even if you get the jump on them.

I'm basically playing my hunter as if I was a titan anyways so I think that class may be better fitted to my play style of running in and tearing everyone up. The super that a titan has although situational I find it to be one of the best for crucible (for actually doing the objectives instead of padding kdr).

This is also assuming the person using the titan can aim... Lol.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should give the Titan another go. It seemed a bit boring in PvE.

I can see it being pretty boring for pve. My titan is currently only lvl 6, lol. But I see it as a necessary evil for the harder quests just due to his defensive buffs he provides. But in PvP I see him as a monster, haha

Its too bad the race you choose after picking a class doesn't make any diff other than visual. Would be nice if there were specific starting buffs for different races ala Skyrim.

Expansion details leaked.
Pulled from a bug with the games interface on the current version. On disc DLC?? (A few areas are already accessible in game) Looks shady....

Did you guys see this uproar today about a glitch that was found to get into DLC areas? The pitchforks are up because of the belief the DLC is already on-disc, atleast partially. But for once I'll give Bungie a pass and say "who gives a crap".

As a note, all of these activities have been leaked already through destinytracker.com 's database, it's just now that we know it is partially on disc. What's even worse is that you are able to glitch yourself into some of these places on Earth and see enemies in them.

The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps.

Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)

a hell of alot of people can and should give a crap. That means content ON THE DISK is literally being kept from us TO CHARGE FOR IT at a later date when the content was ALREADY COMPLETED. Thats fucking bogus and if thats the case i wont spend a penny on this or any of their DLC

Geez that's ...not enough DLC to keep me interested until the next one comes along sometime next year. Most of my friends quit already since raiding for hours on end doesn't really interest them and up until a few days ago the loot system outlook was doom and gloom.

I'm going to stick to my original thoughts and come back in 6 months.

I dunno, I guess I just burned out on griping about the game. Its all just sort of devolved to "eh, whatever" now. I have my personal issues with the game, but when the mob and the bandwagon of entitlement gets too big its time to depart.

Things will go back and forth, Bungie will adjust, things will work themselves out. I think Godmachine has the right idea, I look forward to coming back to the game in a few months and starting a new playthrough and hopefully having a better experience - hoping to see a co-op matchmaking system for story missions at a minimum.

So many other games to play in the meantime.

The on-disc DLC issue (if it is true) wouldn't be a massive deal if the game isn't already feel like an incomplete game.

Replace "game" with "the NSA" or "big banks" or "political person", etc. All these assholes play the same strategy, cuz it works, sadly.

Coming back after 6 months might be the best idea, but Activision is notorious for few and far between discounts on their DLC / Titles... Its crazy that these are what, $15, $20 each?

What I suspect (and I've posted in the past) that this is part of their ultimate plan of getting people on a subscription. "Well I know you guys are sick of our DLC packs every 3 months, so why not just get our extremely affordable subscription package! Just $8 a month!" (and then the effort / actual content of each month slowly dwindles to nothing, AND they make you pay for "expansions" once a year in addition, See WoW for example)

This is a great read:

Don't give a shite about half expansion on disc. Would actually indulge and purchase expansions on release now that I am enjoying the game a lot with my friends from another forum.

The 'original story' rumour is pretty saucy too. Apparently as little as a year ago, there was a whole lot more content destined... for Destiny. Not sure how true it all is (the original story was from a deleted Reddit post by somebody claiming to have been involved in a Bungie 'user experience test'), but it's juicy.

Truth be told, the original story (if that's the case) wasn't very groundbreaking either, but it does make sense since the Destiny that was released didn't have much of a story at all (except for the Grimoire information).

Also, got the bounty for my first Exotic weapon. I have to beat 5 strikes without dying (I'm on my third strike right now). Fairly easy, as I can just play it safe on a low level strike, but it's definitely a repetitive task.

My brother and another buddy both have the "get 500 points in Crucible with void damage", its been pretty hilarious listening to them rage over it (kill = 5pts, death = -3pts), but they've been getting a lot better at pvp thanks to it.

Me on the otherhand...no exotic bounties despite having done 2x as many as each of them.

I much rather have that than doing 25 strike missions. What a grind. Lol.

Yeah it really sucks. I guess I'll do it to bring up my vanguard rep.. I'm not even rank 1 due to my dead orbit cape (my bad.. Didn't realize it was eating my rep for vanguard and crucible).

Also its pretty retarded if they are holding back content on disc. At least not charge for it.

We will see. Really losing my faith in this company. But I'm sure Activision played a big part on this.

I have seen multiple people in multiple boards say the cave farming was the only way they reached certain item levels even after spending hours and hours running strikes etc.

There are ways, it is doing patrol missions and turning in elements for elemental exchange. Doing patrols nets you faster Vanguard rep than doing missions and handing in materials (spinmetal etc) nets you 5 marks each time you do it. You take those Marks and buy your Legendary class armor with them from the Class trainer for 65 marks apiece.
Now, I am not saying it isnt tedious but if someone says that farming a cave is the only way, they are just ignorant to the fact of how the game works.

I got my Bad Juju bounty last week. Some friends and I joined 3 others to do the Raid Saturday night. We got through all the way to the end boss but the lower level guys were just not high enough to get through the content so we quit.
I go back sunday morning and finish off the last 3 strikes out of 25 and went to go to Xur to get the next part. That is when I realized he was not there any longer. so that sucks.
I did get another Exotic bounty that day though, but I have to talk to Xur about that one also. So I am stuck with these 2 bounties in my queue until next weekend. I hate Xur, lol.
I found it positive that I had the highest K/D ratio in the Raid though.
Oh and we also did the Nightfall mission before doing the raid and that netted me the Monty Carlo. I am sitting pretty with Exotic Weapons for now since I also bought the Suros Regime from Xur Friday night.

After watching this video, it makes me wonder WTF happened.

Internal studio conflict and conflict with the publisher and its desire to splinter the story into DLC to be milked over a long period of time. $500 million doesn't come without strings attached.

Destiny won't be remembered for its formula doing things right but instead how throwing money at problems rarely fixes them.

Maybe Bobby Kotick will be revealed as being The Traveller.

Also, just downloaded the Destiny app, pretty much a miniature version of their Destiny site. And the Bungie forums are getting really nasty. Good entertainment if you're sitting at work with some downtime.

It's just amazing...it's like Aliens: Colonial Marines levels of deception if you watched that video versus what the game is actually like.

It really does hurt bungies reputation ALOT.

If you think about it, though, it's really a similar situation. Both Gearbox and Bungie were put on a pedestal as being this amazing developer, but they both essentially only had ONE game/franchise (Borderlands and Halo respectively) that was good.

Makes you wonder though. If everything was in game before hand why is it gone now? Must have been Activision pushing for DLC and the reason the lead writer left..

That's exactly what has been announced

No it's not.

As explained by Bungie, the Destiny Expansion Pass will offer two post-launch expansions that include brand new story missions, cooperative activities and competitive multiplayer arenas, as well as a wealth of new weapons, armor, and gear to acquire. Both expansions were named, but only one was actually detailed.
Expansion I: The Dark Below - Set deep beneath the surface of the Moon, fans will discover an ancient tomb that has been unsealed, and a dark god who has risen an evil army in the depths of the Hellmouth, the home of the Hive enemy race.
Expansion II: House of Wolves - details will be revealed later.

No it's not.

New story missions = irrelavent and pointless, the story content is a joke and there is no reason to do it aside from your first playthrough to get levels.

No details about the multiplayer "activities". Previous leaks showed 1 strike, 1 raid per expansion and that is exactly what was shown in the bug so id say its pretty accurate

Finally hit level 26. Now griding for Vanguard and Crucible reps. Need those legendary Gaunts and Legs.

That and having to cater to the previous generation of hardware. If it were just PS4/Xbox1 I think more would have been in there. Stuff like that destructive environment inside of an open event and other things.

Did the raid last night, my bro + buddy + 3 pugs. One of the guys we picked up was experienced (and thankfully patient). We got inside pretty quick, progressed decently, some of the other guys had a lot of trouble with some jumping parts (reminded me of mega man, disappearing platforms), I got a ton of ascendent shards/energy and a class item (yay...not really). We hit a wall at the last part of the last boss, most of us were tired though so we bailed for the night.

All in all, it was neat, it was the best content in the game; but there was no story, no exposition, not even quips from Dinklebot. I completely understand why it took the first guys 13hrs to clear the place. There are parts that give you zero direction of where to go / what to do (mostly exploration wise).

That being said, since i've seen all the content in the game, I have little motivation to keep playing, and I'm absolutely not paying $20 for a mini-content pack, especially with the recent information (confirmation) about the development process issues.

I like how you brushed aside story content when someone posted the exact details to debunk your opinion. Content is content, you don't just pick and choose to argue your position.

What are the highlights?

A lot of it is rage and conspiracy theories (they're really wanting an explanation of the seemingly cut content and loss of lead writer).

One guy wants Bungie to cut their ties from Activision and start a kickstarter for the 'original vision' of Destiny. (Which would actually be kinda cool, not necessarily a Destiny redo, but a AAA studio like Bungie making their dream game and pitching it to the community to develop).

And another guy was claiming allegedly that he beat the raid six times during one day and was only getting Ascendant shards. Hopefully this isn't true, not the lack of gear drops, but that this guy would be playing the game long enough in one day to complete the raid six times.

Still working on my exotic weapon, beat the five strikes without dying last night, and now I'm doing the K/D spread part. Seems not too difficult, I was really sucking at PVP last night (My kills and deaths were about equal), but I still managed to get up to 13/25 from only a few matches. So I'm thinking assists must play a role in it as well? I'll google it later. Hopefully I'll have a nice streak during some games tonight and manage to unlock the next bounty.

Reading this stuff about Destiny's chopped content and modified "vision" just... saps any desire to ever touch the game again. This is probably the best-ever example of how a huge, greedy publisher can drive a creative game right into the fucking ground.
