Destiny - Discussion Thread

Is a few missions, one strike, one raid worth $20? or double that for $35?

To me, it isn't. Especially given that the only thing of value, to me, would be the raids.

All this DLC will serve to do is fragment the community (just like BF3 / CoD / Titanfall / insert title) and/or create a situation where the "full" game is well beyond double the box price.

Its particularly comical to read the "Reasonable post from a game dev" thread on the reddit sub. Excusing everyhing that Bungie is doing cuz "that's how the industry works". Well sorry, but no, that doesn't work for me.

Exactly. Just misinterpreted what was being asked and no clarification was ever given.

In cases like this where the game is either going downhill or staying stagnant, depending upon your view, the best thing to do is vote with your wallet. I hate DLC, especially if it is on the disk already. Bungie has taken a serious hit in my eyes with how they are treating Destiny but I'm waiting to see where they go from here before I pass judgment on the longevity of the game.

I don't mind them dragging a story out if it is good. I mean look at Mass Effect, great game great story and I was eagerly awaiting the closure of the series. Same with Dead Space and a few others. There is potential for them to right the ship and do this right. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen.

its not MY misinterpretation though. Expansion != Expansion pass. Your the one who came in here trying to say I was spreading misinformation when NOTHING THAT I SAID was inaccurate only the way you tried to interpret it, that is not my issue

Its a social game so naturally when people are enjoying themselves hanging out shooting the cave having fun, yep have to take that away

Seriously it was the only damn social thing going for this game.

If you have no friends on PSN/XBL, you cannot enjoy this game. There is a lot of social stuff in strikes, raids and even repeat story missions. I am having a blast but only because I have someone around to play with. Otherwise this would be a fucking bore.

Yar, this would be the best way to send a message to Bungie/Activision. It's one thing hearing complaints on an online forum, where negativity may appear to float to the surface drowning out positive comments. But it's an entirely different thing to have this huge profit from the initial launch and then have the DLC sales come nowhere near those original numbers.

I have had no problems dumping 14 hours into the game so far without any friends to play with.

I think Bungie's biggest problem is that they played off of too many genre's, and while it grabbed people form all of them, it also meant no one is happy because it is not a pure version of any one of those genres.

maybe I am just weird in that I can enjoy it for what it is.

I'm in the same boat. I'm having a good deal of fun with it, despite not playing with anyone yet (and up to lvl 16, i think).
 
OK, I relaize that this game isn't everyone's cup f tea, but I have enjoyed it so far. That said, I am level 21 and have done about all I can do solo and/or with PUGS. If anyone is on Xbox One, feel free to add me. Gamertag is Kilaen and I'd love to do some of the higher content with folks.

I dream of a future in which all men and women, regardless of race, creed or console platform can enjoy a game together using a common identifier like a facebook id instead of stupid PS and Live ID's. Until then you'll just have to eat in the back of the kitchen cnealjr. The front dinner is for Playstation folk only. I'm sorry, maybe someday we can join in harmony and shoot things together. I don't see console. Only Avatars.
 
Surprisingly enough if you check destiny tracker, the people on Xbox are on the top for a lot of the stats.
 
This Vex mythoclast weapon I've been reading about and watching looks way too OP. I can't imagine how badly it would dominate in PvP when Iron Banner comes out.

Sadly it is only available to the no lifes.
 
Yeah, I thought my Suros was OP but an Automatic Primary Equipped Fusion rifle with solar damage is just dangerous, lol.

Haven't played destiny, but man his rant is funny. I guess you guys know better than I do, but based on his video it sounds like bungee just created a random content generator and expected people to just grind away for random loot and trinkets with no rhyme or reason behind them.

My suggestion is not to watch this at work though. I did on my headphones and was struggling to not bust out laughing.

There no random generation really, its just repeating the same story/strike content over and over again. The only random part of it is there is random selection of a daily strike/story that has bonus rewards
 
Some sort of random dungeon/map generator would actually go a long way in making the missions/farming more tolerable.
 
Loot Cave is still active not sure what they did got a bunch of blues no purples yet....
 
Not sure if Purples still drop or whatever I still haven't got one of those.
Timer is like every 20 seconds stuff comes out of the cave got flanked by like 100 NPCS while me and another guy was farming.
 
It took about an hour to hope to get a legendary out of there before it was patched. It will take about 3 times as long now. Best bet, go to Mars where the war between races is more prevalent and hit both sides and loot chests while you do it. Much better chances.

Scout rifles hit a lot harder now. I have a rare rifle with explosive damage, which gives so much kick to headshots. I actually leveled up to light level 21 thanks to the new heroic mission rewards (I've been playing SP except during the free PSN MP weekend). :D
