Destiny 2

I'm not opposed to spoilers, so I'll probably just check out what my options are. I really like doing quest-related stuff, so that's a nice bonus.

Hand-cannon wise I still really like the Better Devils, but mine is incredibly weak now. The bows have really grown on me. They're definitely my weapons of choice (other than the GL) when they're powered up. I have a masterworked version of the story-based one and I have another kinetic one that dropped halfway to masterwork out of the gate. I have to admit I wish I saved the supplies I used to boost that first bow, though. Masterworking items now is quite the undertaking.

Looking for some quick advice on getting Cade's hand cannon. Do Gambit weapons scale? Does the kill via Hand Cannon work only vs. people invading you or can you invade them and get those kills?
Any tips to make this easier?

Somewhat related, what are some good weapons people have found? I still really like the bows, but I dunno if I've found anything else that's a real game changer. The newer heavy auto rifles are kinda novel, but they also often feel weak. I have on decent one that fires a little slower and hits harder, but the other 3 have all of the stopping power of a BB gun.

I have yet to get any exotic drops or hand cannon drops, period.
I know a few have already replied but I just finsihed my Ace of spades on thursday so here what I found. Crimson was by far the easiest handcannon to use, its more of a pulse rifle than a handcannon since it 3 burst shots rapidly. Kills must be on invaders only.

As for good weapons the graviton lance and Vigilance wing are still very good exotics to use in crucible, and graviton lance still does very well in PvE content. I normally run

either the bow, Snipers or shotguns in my main (depends on the content)
Graviton lance in my secondary
and a tracking launcher in my heavy

also once you do get done with the quest and can use whatever you want in gambit, snipers and tracking launchers are severely under used in that. A good tracking launcher can shutdown an invader as fast as he started, and a sniper can cause absolute havoc when you invade, so far my top is 6 kills and 150% prime evil healed in 1 invasion lol

The first part of Ace of Spades is stupid with the overpowered sleeper simulant ... the damn thing can hit you on the far side of the map and 1 shot you.

Finally got a decent hand cannon drop last night, so I'm going to probably play some Gambit on Sunday. A friend of mine on the Xbox said that the Ace of Spades is OP as hell, so I definitely want to get this one.

So do I but chances are I'll never get it done just like Sleeper Stimulant. ;)

I am up to 4/5 on the first requirement out of Gambit, though. I like Gambit. It's fun. (Even though I'm average in there at best)

the first part is the hardest by far and the rest can be done very fast, the final mission you get is actually pretty cool ;)

Get the Sleeper! Heck I did that totally solo over two days play time. Just a bunch of steps in order and the result is worth it!

The Sleeper is probably my favorite weapon in the entire game. It's up there with the GL at the very least. The amount of damage that thing does is just plain nuts. It wrecks bosses like no other weapon can. If all 3 players have one you can kill some strike bosses in just a few seconds. It's apparently so dominant in Gambit mode that people are creating their own "house rules" not to play with it.
Plus, like criccio mentions, you can do it without the help of others.

I'm trying!

This stinkin' gambit thing is taking me forever so far because, of course, you are at the mercy of how good the invader is and it's a lot of luck.

Wow. Sleeper Stimulant killed me at full health with one shot several times by this one guy. Unreal.

EDIT: Got the 5/5 done! Pure luck.

Since it's Great American Beer Festival week I probably won't get another crack at the game until the weekend. With some luck my RTX2080 should be showing up soon, too. Right now I'm playing the game at 4K, but scaled to 75% in order to stay at 60fps. I'm curious if the 2080's will be able to do legit 4K/60 without bogging down in places.

Shocking. It's like I got on a roll yesterday. I'm a couple of steps further on both Sleeper Simulant and Ace of Spades quests now.

I wish you all could have seen how I got that Gambit obligation finished for Ace of Spades.

The match technically ended. An invader had come in and I had my better devils drawn down sight and we're talking seconds away from the cut screen and cut off... the invader crossed my path and I fired away and by golly it took and they gave it to me literally as it cut off to the transition. Blind luck and fluke down to the last nanosecond.

I so wish I could have filmed that.

haha thats one of the few nice things about the ps4 and xbox versions is your always in PVR mode and can record like 30 minutes of gameplay that has already happened incase you had an amazing match or clip you wanted to share. I'm trying to like the ace of spades, everyone keeps saying how its so strong but I just dont like hand cannons, excluding crimson I just have a hard time with them and cant aim them worth a crap lol

Man i forget how much of a power level bump you can get on weekly resets. 535 to 545 in one evening and still a bunch to do tonight. Clan bounties (now that i'm in a clan) make a HUGE difference.

Because I'm an idiot that was in a hurry or something: During Nascent 2/5 you get this Braytech Scout Rifle from Ana. Stupid me it looks like I dismantled it or did something with it. It's gone. Obviously I need it for 4/5. How do I get this thing back?

I think you can buy it from Ana.

All I see is a sword from her with a clock over it. I'll have to do some scrub work on Mars and see if I can get it back somehow either from her or engram drop. (Unless I'm really missing something obvious. I checked both pages)

O i forgot about that! Nice!

Yeah that quest for the Polaris Lance is worth it i think. Its been the only other gun i've been able to beat the Whisper mission with now that heavy ammo is so scarce (read: non-existent).

Once you get it, farming for the catalyst is as simple as loading into the normal Leviathan raid solo, going to the Castellum and just finding a spot the Cabal don't seem to be spawning from and picking them off. You can basically just stay in one spot and as you kill them, more spawn forever. Perfect. Getting the "Perfect Fifth" kill is a bit of a pain. They have to die solely from the burn of the explosion, and not the bullet itself.

Cayde's Will...get the 25 precision blows with any hand cannon in Crucible. I've done nothing but aim down sights nonstop (sometimes crouched) and when I get some kills none of them are taking. It says I have 1/25 and I KNOW I've gotten more than that. I'm using Better Devils mostly. Is there some trick to this that I'm missing? Almost seems broken.

EDIT: Headshots. I suspected as much. Damn, this is going to take me quite a while to get done.

EDIT: Going to try Crimson.

I'm not a PvP'er, so I kind of gave up with the 5 infiltrator hand cannon kills in Gambit.

Don't give up. I PVP when I want to get essentials done. Crucible Quickplay is good and Gambit grew on me. Just stick with it as much as you can tolerate. ;) It is a PITA to be sure. I didn't think I was going to get it and then I got lucky. That's really what it comes down to: Timing and luck.

EDIT: Nascent Dawn finished. Polaris Lance secured and upgraded. If I can do this anyone can. Believe me. Be patient. Pace yourselves.

We'll see if I can get Ace of Spades. I really want to.

I'm at 3/25 so far and it just isn't going well for the amount of time I've spent. The Crucible obligation makes the opening Gambit one seem like a cakewalk because, of course, you're completely at the mercy of how good everyone else vs yourself. I have very dim hopes of getting this done. Anyone got any tips?

Nice! IMO the Polaris Lance feels great. In the rare instance where i don't have my sleeper or whisper equipped, i'm using it.

I've only gotten one invader kill with my HC so far and it was purely by necessity but I can already tell if you play gambit enough, they'll just come. Going to keep with it.

I played a couple minutes yesterday and noticed that you don't actually have to kill invaders in Gambit alone. You simply have to be part of a kill with your hand cannon. Meaning, you can shoot them in the foot once and someone else can blast them with a rocket. As long as you hit them once before they regen'd health you get credit. Seems way more feasible now that I know this.

That's very fortunate if that's the case. It sure didn't seem that way for me. It was a PITA in any event and the Crucible obligation is even worse. It will get done but it will take time.

They just changed the first step of that quest, they have made it way easier now lol

That figures.

When did that change happen? They do anything on any of the rest of it?

EDIT: Maybe something got refined. I'm using Crimson and Lucky Pants and I'm up to 18/25 just from one round of Iron Banner. I know I haven't miraculously improved in a day on my skills. It's working. :)

  • Players may now progress the Cayde’s Will quest step by defeating either invaders or general enemies with Hand Cannons
