Destiny 2

nice, I have not had 1 auto rifle drop for me since forsake has started :( lol

Weird, I've probably got 10 Misfit drops. All crap rolls, too.

However, after the same amount of Go Figure drops, I finally got the Outlaw/Rampage combo. That thing is staying!

I'm really glad they changed that first step for the Ace of Spades. It kinda ruins Gambit when literally everyone is only using hand cannons and they only care about killing invaders. Especially when invaders are all using snipers and fusion rifles.
I'm all for implementing multiplayer steps into certain quests, but they shouldn't make everyone attempting it a giant liability.
Looking forward to getting some more time to play tomorrow. GABF is killing my liver and I kinda just want to play some games after 4 straight days of beer.

so is destiny 2 now as good as destiny 1?
I also saw that upgrading a character for the latest expansion locks you out of previous expansions...?

I think using the boost auto completes all the previous story quests essentially locking you out of them. If you want to do the previous expansion content you need to run it all with a non boosted character.

Ascendant Challenge can kiss my butt. First person Super Mario platform in hell does not go to this game's strengths.

Whisper of the Worm. I just learned about this. I'm going to try for it if it can be done post Forsaken.

I just did Taken Blight on IO... I was looking for those three bosses and never saw them... nothing ever happened. Is this still the way to access The Whisper mission?

https://www.usgamer.net/articles/11-09-2018-destiny-2-whisper-of-the-worm-guide

I'll try this.

^^

EDIT: Some guys did this and opened the portal. I was able to jump into that portal...it says the mission kicks in but it's an empty cavern and nothing happens so I guess that's either a glitch or something else? Of course that's the kind of luck I'm going to have.

Yeah, the Whisper mission is still a thing. A Taken blight event needs to spawn but don't bother participating in it, find the boss the spawns right when the event starts and kill him which spawns the portal. Also, that cavern isn't empty :)

Plenty of video guides out there if you just want it explained. I really suggest watching one as it's a pretty complex jumping puzzle if you go into it blind. Also, it's ROUGH without a fireteam once you have to fight. There are always a few LFGs on the Destiny app with people looking to run it so I would jump in one of those.

Haha, nope, that is how it works. You're put in a private instance so you'd have to be in those guys fireteam to enter the mission with them.

And the lost sector it puts you in may seem empty but.. it isn't. You can look up a video if you want it spoiled but there is a very well hidden ledge you need to jump to then it'll all become clear.

I found it. Even watching the video... Wow, what a nightmare. This game sucks at trying to be first person Super Mario Bros. Time to do something else.

Aww, that's a shame. I found the Whisper mission one of the most exciting things in D2 pre-Forsaken. The excitement when it was first discovered by accident and posted to Reddit was a crazy day.

It's NOT easy, that's for sure. And its timed... sucks.

Got the Ace of Spades. Pretty interesting. It's powerful, but you kinda have to get rolling to make it so. Pre-kill it's pretty average, but after one it's like the Sunshot on steroids. I don't think it's OP'd necessarily, but it definitely rewards someone who is playing well or who is at least at the right place and time. It's also equally good in PvP and PvE, which is nice.

As far as new weapons go, the Trust (a hand cannon) is my favorite new PvP weapon. It's kinda like the Mida - it sucks in PvE, but it's hell on wheels in the Crucible. It fires super fast and has basically no recoil. You just line up a headshot and just keep firing 'til they drop. I got the Ace of Spades headshot challenge in 2 games after discovering this gun. Mine's a slot 2 weapon, but I'd imagine it would be a force to be reckened with combined with the GL.

Will be going for the Chaperone next I suppose. It's eye opening to experience how horrible the Crucible is when people are doing these challenges while others are playing their best. Getting 20 shotgun kills was torture, it it was clear like 1/2 the other players were doing the same thing. Nothing but shotguns and hand cannons. I ended up just going with Rumble to avoid tanking my team...and actually nearly won.

I got the Ace of Spades on Saturday, I think. What really makes it shine is having some armour with hand cannon perks on it, like hand cannon dexterity. I have some stand asides with hand canon dexterity which makes the Aces of Spades even better.

Ace of Spades with Lucky Pants exotic boots is pretty special for me. ;)

Trust is growing on me but it's a little finicky. Ace and Better Devils are my go to hand cannons all the way. Sometimes Sunshot, too.

For me the key to the Trust is its fast firing rate and total lack of recoil. You can overwhelm other (stronger) weapons just because you get 3 shots off compared to their one. You also don't have to worry about having to re-aim after firing.
The caveat is that it's not good vs. groups. Don't expect to take out more than 2 foes at a time because you're going to have to reload. That's even if your accuracy is perfect. It also lacks range even with the range mods enabled. Those long corridor shootout levels aren't going to do you any favors.
Well, that and it's not good in PvE. It does quick burst damage, but not enough to justify having to re-load it every 10 seconds.

I just got the Phoenix Protocol exotic as a random drop on a Heroic mission, not even at the ending. A random enemy dropped it. My first Forsaken Exotic and its a useful one!

Perhaps a few of you would be able to weigh in on this...

I picked up Destiny 2 at launch (top end digital edition etc), but I did not end up playing it very much since. I've heard from others that since the Forsaken expansion, the game is even better and lots of old and new players alike have joined. Do you feel its worthwhile to start playing again now? Also, will I still be able to see old, pre-expansion content (ie raids, story stuff etc) or has much of it either been technically removed and/or players ignore it these days. Is there any content no longer accessible? Finally, if I am correct the pre-order item for Forsaken is included in the Deluxe edition even post launch, right?

Trying to decide if its worth investing and giving it a shot again. Thanks.

Nice! Still haven't had a single forsaken exotic drop, just what I've earned from quests

Not into Breaker in the Crucible whatsoever.
Me either, the fact that you can win the fight for the middle point and the other team will still get the win for defending their base point is BS. If you manage to get the mid point you should get 1 point, taking their base should give you 2

I think its worth it, buying the forsaken expansion give you access to a free character boost. If you use the boost you skip ALL the story content from before forsaken, but you can still choose to do all the prior story content and level normally if you don't use it. All previous strikes has been updated to be included in forsaken so your not really missing out on old content that way.

Yeah, 100% worth it. As far as I know, all the original content is still there. The thought of starting fresh from the beginning with all this content to look forward to sounds great. However, there is a LOT to do now so you can look at it two ways. 1. There is too much to do and its overwhelming, especially if you want to "keep up" with all the high power level players. 2. Its not race, nothing is going away and I can put as little time into this as I want.

Both options work and I think i'm a little in the middle just cresting 560 power on 2 characters.

I kinda like that there's no race to do anything in the Forsaken update. My ability to play tends to be sporadic and I don't feel like I'm getting behind or anything like that. The Crucible scales weapons and armor, so there's no pressure to level up or get slaughtered. Plenty of older weapons (like the GL) are still perfectly viable, too.
I can't tell for certain if Gambit scales or not. It seems like the PvE portion doesn't, but I really have no idea.
I really like how much new content there is and I especially like the amount of "powerful weapon" quests there are now. My only complaints are related to upgrade grinding and the tediousness of all of the daily bounties. Upgrades are torture now. I full on hate how they're handled. Bounties are a nifty idea, but I wish they were simply automated. Why make me go and accept a bunch of them from different people? Just add them automatically like the older achievements.

Absolutely well worth it for people that like the game at all. I'll co-sign the comments already made in this regard.

Yeah, definitely not a fan of Breakthrough. Was trying to use it to pad my stats for the Chaperone quest and it actually set me back 10% and took like 30 minutes to play a single game. Beyond that, it's just not fun.
I really, really wish I had infused more weapons with Arc energy along the way. I basically only have a bow, the Mida Mini (which sucks now), and a couple power weapons. I have like 40 weapons that use the other elements, but the Arc part of this quest is killing me.

I'm done with Breakthrough unless I'm forced to do it for some specific criteria.

Which quest are you on?

If you have enough for a single infusion, just running strikes should yueld you a passable legendary Arc weapon quick enough.

I'm doing the Chaperone quest. It begins with 20 shotgun kills (annoying, but not that horrible in Rumble mode) and then it goes over a 3-tier quest that requires kills with different elements. It doesn't say how many, but I'm thinking it's 20-25. Each time you die it lowers your % a little, too. Void was super easy since the Graviton Lance uses that. I got it in 2 matches. Solar's also on several good weapons, so that one's no big deal, too. The catch is that I don't have any good Arc weapons. After this portion I think the final part involves killing other players in Gambit, but it counts both invaders and invasions. I'm just going to Sleeper that portion.

Looking at the Chaperone, it doesn't even seem like a weapon i would realistically use all the time. Same with the Wish Ender bow. There is no way i'm going to put a kinetic bow in my primary slot with so many other options.

Malfeasance.. forget about it.

I guess i'm glad I don't feel the need to do those quests as the actual reward doesn't seem beneficial to me. I'm also not THAT much of a completionist.

Others though like the Whisper and Sleeper.. well we all know how crucial those can be. I truly dislike crucible so my Ace of Spades quest isn't complete but that one also seems useful and could finally replace my Midnight Coup that hasn't left my kinetic slot since I got it almost a year ago.

Now that the first part of Ace of Spades isn't that horrible I'd say it's a worthwhile quest. It reminds me a lot of the Sunshot. It's also one of the only weapons that lets you see the radar when looking down your sights.

I have a buddy that primarily plays on the Xbox and he swears by the Chaperone, so I'm interested in getting it. Apparently it 1-shots anyone in close'ish range without aiming and headshots instakill even at a decent distance. I guess it's also really good vs. bosses you can get close to, so there's that as well. I don't necessarily think I'll use it much outside of the Crucible, but I guess it's a lot of fun there.

Fortunately for me I had a color uriels gift and an arc inaugural address so the entire chaperone quest went very fast. Got my 15 Gambit kills in 1 match which was epic, good snipers and trading launcher got me many invasion kills lol

It was a PITA definitely but Ace is totally worth it if you like hand cannons at all. That combined with Lucky Pants boots are in my top tier rotation now for sure.

It looks like I have finally fixed my crashing issue, when the expac launched I gave the game a try to see if they maybe fixed my issue, and it seemed to work fine, what I did not notice at the time was that my CPU was not running fullspeed for some reason. (ASrock tuning utility seems to crash from time to time for whatever reason, and this seemed to have caused this issue)

After trying it again with the correct clockspeed it started crashing again, so that ruled out that they fixed it in the patch.

Now if I change my multiplier from 45 to 42 the game seems to run without issues. Strangely enough every other game I throw at my pc is rocksolid with the 45x multllpier but oh well easy enough to change via the ASrock tuning app.

Got the Ace but only played with it in Gambit so far. Initially, I feel like I can put out more DPS with my Midnight Coup at 3x rampage and the fast reloads of outlaw.

Maybe where I can spare not having my exotic Whisper/Sleeper equipt like Crucible it would make more sense.

The Firefly though, that is real cool having on a handcannon.

The one big plus to it's perk is that after you activate its bonus damage perk it lasts until death. You can switch to your secondary or power weapons and then back to your ace and you will still have the perk. Also awesome how the perk makes the ace a 2 shot gun in crucible of you can nail your head shots.

I finally got the Chaperone yesterday and pretty much tanked my Crucible K/D ratio in the process. I eventually got a fusion rifle arc drop that helped out, but I died a ton getting that part done.

In Gambit mode, invading with a sniper rifle seems almost unfair. I think all of them instakill from a mile away. It only took 2-3 missions to get that part done.

As far as the Chaperone goes, I'm unimpressed. It does heavy damage in-close, but you have to be VERY close. You basically only get one crack at other players in PvP because it can't fire a 2nd shot for a full second. If you don't kill them, you're toast. In PvE I'm finding that it also suffers from range issues. It's a force of nature at point blank, but you're almost never that close to anything. Damage seems to go down exponentially once you're more than 10 feet from anything.
The Perfect Paradox is better at shredding things from the same distance and it's full-auto. It's also "only" a legendary, so you can still rock an exotic in another slot. I'm not seeing a reason this gun is an exotic to be frank. It's no better than most run of the mill shotguns.

Ha, that kinda echos what I figured it would be like. Maybe the catalyst helps?

Side note, I need to get another Perfect Paradox or Hawthornes shotgun. It would be nice to have one for my kitetic slot. More often than not my IKELOS SG is in my energy slot as I feel like I can't do enough DPS without it but there are times where I'd rather run something else there but still have a shotgun.

Hawthorns Field Forged shotgun carried me all through year 1 in my Heavy slot. So many memories. Luckly the IKELOS gives me that feeling again.

Check your collections, you can generate new copies of your old legendary items

The Field Forged Shotgun is actually better than the Perfect Paradox in some ways. It definitely doesn't kick up as badly. With the PP you have to start off aiming at their waist knowing that the recoil is going to make your next shots jump way up.
It doesn't do quite as much damage (mainly in PvE), but it's not that far off. It's always fun when all 3 players have a full auto shotgun vs. a close-range boss. I've seen some strike bosses legitimately go down in less than 3 seconds with supers, grenades, and full-auto shotguns hitting them at the same time.

I keep forgetting about that for Y1 static roll gear. Thanks!

O absolutely. It's like muscle memory now for certain yellow bars. Run up, melee to activate Trench Barrel on the IKELOS then just hold down left click. Deletes them.

If you haven't gotten the IKELOS SG yet, they were dropping again this week in EP though i'm not sure what's changing again come tomorrows reset. I was running it with a friend for him to get one (i already had one) and I happened to get two new ones within 20 minutes. One was fully masterworked in stability as well so I kept that. With the app it's pretty easy to find an EP farming group.
