Actually I liked that game. It started well off and I would've continued to play it.
I'm a bit confused about its failure.
Because it had no depth. Really good looking, cool flight mechanics, and even the combat was OK. Issue was that the main story missions were garbage, and there was very little content. People would burn out within only a few hours. Garbage game. Had the depth of a mobile game / F2P game, but they had the audacity to charge $60 for it.

It was a $40 game.

The game lacked vision and solid developpement, it was rebooted several times and in the end they decided to launch it as it was hoping to fix it later only to find out that it would take too much manpower/time and money to be still woth it, expecially after most players left the game.

I would still play it if they managed to keep it going but alas.

Haha this design rules

It's like fatter Gibraltar from Apex Legends with the fashion sense of a 5 year old
Never thought about that. That entity does remind me of how the kid from big daddy chooses to dress.

Yeah, it looks like what a child would put together themselves for a Halloween costume with random stuff they found around the house.

Didn't watch the video but it's no surprise that everything about the game will be basically erased. It will be a requirement for taking the loss as a tax write off. Disney did the exact same thing with the Willow show.
and the same happened with batgirl

Interesting, I didn't know that's how it works.

Most definitely. They turned Osiris into a gay robot fucker among other things. The game has plenty of pride flag emblems and other things like that too.
Why would a robot have sexuality? What exactly would he need it for? Maybe he should have been Robosexual.
And one would think that a robot would literally be a binary thing, but they made FL4K in Bordelands 3 into a non-binary. 🤔

Free to Play would mean paying for servers and trying to make money with MTX. With the previous player count and the interest in the game, I don't think Sony would risk it.

i saw speculation, but certainly not hope.
I knew there was almost no chance that they would relaunch the game as a free to play title. The fact is, its hard to monetize a game with characters so ugly they break Rule 34. Who wants to put a different outfit on this:

With character designs like that, you aren't going to sell skins or other cosmetic items in a cash shop. The whole game's initial hook was supposed to be weekly cinematics. How is that going to work when players of games like that don't care that much about story? How are you going to get people interested in a story about characters that no one wants to look at, much less learn about? People who played it just said it was "mediocre" in terms of mechanics, shooting etc. In order to make Concord a success, you need to address the already dated graphics because by the time the game was finished a second time it will be at least a decade old. Then you need to completely redesign the characters. That probably means rewriting dialog, recording new lines and even redoing cinematics. The gameplay needs to be tuned into something more than just "mediocre". People also complained about the map design. Well, that's got to get redone too.

After all that you have to create a monetization plan, outfits, in-game store front, etc. The name "Concord" is effectively tainted and possibly an albatross for a relaunch. Since you've done new assets, graphics, maps, characters and story, is it even Concord anymore? Probably not. So a name change is probably in order. What I'm getting at is fixing the game and making it a success would likely require a couple hundred million more dollars and effectively scrapping a lot of the existing game. You would almost be starting from scratch. It would most likely take two years at a minimum to complete the work and success of that project is a gamble at best. Its certainly not within Firewalk's skill set or capability to do all of that or the game wouldn't have been shit to begin with.

It's possible some of what we know of Concord will be redeveloped into another title but it won't be Concord anymore. What we know of as Concord was DOA. Reports were that only a little over 1,000 people played it on PSN and we know it never broke 697 concurrent players on Steam. The supposed 25,000 units sold were most likely physical copies sent to retailers and not actual customers. It was so DOA that Sony knew it was beyond salvaging as a free to paly game.

This is the biggest failure in the history of gaming and I don't think it will be topped anytime soon. Sure, Unknown 9, Star Wars Outlaws and Dustborn are all failures too, but they didn't fail as badly as Concord did in that they didn't cost as much or take as much time to develop.

Maybe they can team up w the devs who made Suicide Squad and Redfall and form an ulta-woke dev studio and make the wokest video game ever made

Their tagline for their first game could be "we defy you to enjoy this game"

One shouldn't laugh of other people losing their jobs, but this was pretty funny. 😀

I read a designers criticism of Concord, and I think he had a very good point saying that it wasn't neccessarily the uglyness of the characters, but the fact that the different classes doesn't look like what they are supposed to be, design wise. So players wouldn't know which character was a gunner, medic, and so on, because there was very little to tell them apart.

Outlaws is not even on the same planet in terms of failure or even just being a crappy game.

I'm sure the game had plenty of bad gameplay designs, but bad gameplay doesn't matter if no one plays the game to begin with. And people didn't play it because the characters were ugly.

It's a hero shooter with bad hero design. Bad decisions ran deep in that company. Sony made the right call shutting down the company.

You only get one chance at a first impression, especially with new IP, and Firewalk blundered it with a short film that had everyone confused about what the game actually was. Then the first gameplay trailer dropped showing it was yet another hero shooter in a saturated market. Hero shooters can still find success today, but they also live and die on the design of said heroes, and all of the comments I saw surrounding that first trailer were about how ugly it looked.
