Black Myth: Wu Kong

Ok I will be the one that asks...what is the difficulty like? For any Souls like (I know I know it's not a Souls like) I can play the game and if a boss gets the better of me I can summon help then move on to the rest of the game. Since this game does not have that option just wondering what the level of difficulty is.
While it’s definitely not as hard as Sekiro it’s similar in the sense that it’s fairly linear and the only option with bosses is to try and try again. I’ve found the regular mobs to be pretty easy to deal with but the boss fights can range from first try cakewalks or take me an hour or two worth of attempts to beat, and the boss fights are very often. Luckily so far they’ve mostly been really close to the altars you spawn from so there’s not a lot of time (or mobs) between attempts. Also, you don’t lose anything when you die and you can respec as often as you want for free. It’s certainly not easy but I wouldn’t be here if it was.

You should find out exactly what settings were changed. The description is vague on what it changed. The use of the words "optimized" and whatnot lead me to believe that it fucks around with the memory management and streaming settings so that fewer assets are being streamed in at once than at default.
Read the readme file, it explains a lot. Fewer assets are being streamed at once being because they are being streamed more consistently as you play. The fact that it runs better without any loss in visuals is all that matters to me, I don't necessarily need to know how the sausage is made.

Which would explain the pop-in.

It's a lot easier than other souls like games. The spawn points are much more frequent, you don't lose experience when you die and the requirements for leveling are much better balanced so even if you are struggling with a boss you are always getting stronger so things don't feel stagnant. You can also easily reset leveling points so you can experiment with build order if you're struggling with an area. I don't really have the patience for souls like games any more and this feels like it's much better balanced without being a cake walk.

Thankfully there's only been two instances of pop-in that I've seen an both were just a couple branches on a distant tree. If that's the price I have to pay for no stutter then it's totally worth it.

Chapter 1 is mildly difficult, I would say it's a very approachable, the game does a very good job of teaching you the mechanics early on and provides an easy enough area to test things out. Once you hit Chapter 2 the difficulty ramps up a bit, the first few minibosses are relatively easy, but there are a few challenging bosses in Chapter 2, I'm actually on like my 6th or 7th attempt on one right now and looking forward to getting home to to beat him (Tiger).

Also as others have mentioned the checkpoints are all close to boss fights and you don't lose experience on death.

That tiger hassled me quite a bit, still found the wandering blue fuck in chapter 1 to be more difficult, even the most difficult so far.

Gonna wait for a BF sale or something. I still need to finish Lies of P so no new souls like game till I beat it.

Get some pretty bad lag past the 1st mini Boss going to upgrade my Nvidia drivers see if that helps.
I even have Ray Tracing and Post processing off at 1440P.

It does look a good bit better, not enough for me to wait for a new GPU with RT, but it seems like if these options are going to be available on most AAA games going forward it'll be time to switch it up. I just don't know what kind of money I'm going to have to spend to get decent performance at 4k. It seems to me even the 4090 struggles a bit with this game.

that's why I'm happy gaming at 1440p...4K will always require the highest end card (for the newest AAA games)

I have a 4080S and am playing with everything maxed with an average of 80fps. I wouldn't consider that struggling.

I thought I missed his Boss soul I didn't have a jar to collect it but it later shows up at any shrine.
This guy was the hardest Boss for me so far took me about 30 tries and another transformation to beat him the thing is Wandering Wight is really tuff at first encounter

Looks nice but you run past all the glory unless you take a screenshot.

I turned Ray Tracing off and lowered the Graphics to High from default Cinema mode. Otherwise I was skipping like crazy with Ray Tracing on.

I'm waiting for the GPU where I can I play Black Myth: Wukong, Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 full path tracing at native (no DLSS) ;)

I kind of wish they would have been able to perfect SLI. Having one card to render all the raytracing and particle physics and the other to handle everything else would be kind of cool, even if a bit cost prohibitive.

But then how would they convince buyers to spend nearly $2k on the flagship card?

People in the "posts" are saying this mod improves performance: https://www.nexusmods.com/blackmythwukong/mods/13

I don't have time to test it myself today, might test it tomorrow.

I tested this mod today. Re-ran everything I did yesterday with the same graphical settings and saw zero benefit on my system when I reviewed the videos. It may have actually added 1 additional stutter right before the first cave you run through, It also did not increase FPS in areas that it dipped such as the first mini-boss, the dips were still there.

So this mod does not fix any stutter or improve performance, at least on my system.

4k with frame gen, what does that matter though? Frame gen exists because people want a certain level of graphics quality while maintaining a higher frame rate and this is how we get that. I don't care what is going on behind the scenes as long as the game looks great and runs smoothly.
because 80 FPS with frame gen is 40 fps and there's a latency issue playing at that internal frame rate. It's an action game, I want it to be responsive, 60 FPS is the minimum for frame gen to feel good in games like this TBH. It might look smooth, but it's delayed. I could feel it with frame gen with cinematic settings on.

This guy makes Dark Souls Bosses look like Child's play he was easy but I'm spark level 19 someone said this game it too easy. Well it's not as hard as Sekiro just yet.
This boss tosses locusts at you posions you and jumps around all over the place.

It's not the same price everywhere. It's CN ¥268 in its homeland of China, for example, which is USD $37.63. And that is just gross revenue.
Ok 300 million $. And yes I was talking about gross to compare with some of the other media releases lately (like movies).

30% of that goes to Steam (and other stores) raking in between $90 and $180 million from their cut.
5% goes to Epic games raking in between $15 and $30 million on their Unreal Engine cut.

I wonder if they need to pay anything else based on their gross.

I am super intrigued by this game, but absolutely dislike souls types of games (difficulty). From what I heard its much more forgiving than average souls game, so tempted to try it. Wish there was a demo...

It's not a soulslike game.

I have been reading so many people arguing on Reddit on whether this is souls like or something else - but in terms of difficulty, is this much easier than Elden Ring? Or does it involve a ton of trial and movement memorization to beat bosses?
