BF3 sucked epic fail IMO.

best map in the battlefield series.
netcode improvements.
levolution changes gameplay.
fast paced action with tactical elements on every flag,
better sound.

beats Bf3 and BC2 hands down.

The only thing I'm going to dispute so far are:

Netcode improvements. Its hard to tell whether its the server sucking or the netcoding sucking but a lot of low pings and a lot people hopping around.

Has sniping changed? Feels different. Although, I am using that piss ass starter rifle whose scope is the equivalent of looking through a scope you made with your hand.

Ya it feels different. But that map is horrible to figure out. Most of the time your on top of the building aiming down. And their physics is somewhat accurate, so while you think they are far away the bullet is being treated like they are really only 100 yards or less away.

But the way the servers are running right now the models shift as soon as I send a round out. And leading people is a pain in the ass because I can't figure out any consistent leads.

The M40A5 with 8x scope it gets easier though.

Well, finally got the game to download. Tried a few maps and it's reasonably fun. Not 70 or $90 fun, but fun. May buy if I see a good deal. Heli rape from good pilots is, again, annoying.

So after a few sessions, I can say I like the feel of the game more so than BF3. I didn't care for BF3 that much, so take that for what it's worth. My list of...things.

The guns all feel pretty soft, with little recoil...I kind of prefer my guns with more feedback.

The vehicles, especially the helicopter feel MUCH better to me. I like the Wells Fargo truck a a lot also.

BF3 for me felt like somehow moving in mud. Like vsync was always on or something. I LOVE the way BF4 feels.

That being said, it feels that the pace is too fast. BF to me has always been about playing smart. This feels more about my 12 year old will whip my ass in this every time. My reflexes arent nearly the same as 20 years ago.

The UI. I LOVE THIS UI. Never once have I felt the UI was in the way. They nailed this IMO. From the map to the spawn preview. Swapping weapons...everything.

I still hate Origin.

This one map I've seen (are there more?) Shanghai is pretty damn sweet. Seeing the skyscraper collapse was awesome. Being NEAR it when it collapsed was Awesomer!

Overall I like this much more than BF3, but I prefer BC2 slightly more.

bleh the game is crap. The moviment and aiming is different from BF3 then i realized why. It feels consoleish lol. Not going to buy the game on release day as i intended. Probably going to wait for a polished demo and better drivers and see how it goes from there.
Thought it would run better on my system. BF3 looks alot better on low settings than bf4 on low settings on my system.

Wtf is with the way you throw nades? I feel like my soldier is retarded or something.... Also, the boat keeps spawning over buildings and land wtf..... Only thing were missing now is some giraffe necks on soldiers and concrete breaking med/ammo packs.....

This is a valid complaint with the final release...but cmon. It's a beta that's an old build. I would expect this crap. Last time I checked this was a free trial run.

Low pings are good. It means greater geographical variety of servers.

The problem is that there are a lot of high ping players on low ping servers. If I join a server I get 40 ping to, I still see 200-300 ping players on the server. There's no excuse for that, and servers should prevent those players from joining, IMO.

The netcode is definitely improved over BF3. I'm not getting shot after making it around corners anymore.

I haven't played yet but I do know there's a zeroing option (V key) to change between distances. I could see that screwing you up.

In BF4 beta so far with HT off things have been stuttering a lot. 320.49 drivers helped a lot but they crashed a lot. 331 Betas worked well but didn't do anything for fps.
I just turned HT on and BAMO! Huge difference in fps. Like massive, haven't seen anything like it ever. Smoothed things out incredibly.
Gpu/Cpu usage seems to have gone down(?) where as before they were both pegged at 100%.

Yes, I had HT off in BF3 since I saw no difference with it on, but in BF4 having it on helps out with making the game smooth, still stable at 4.9ghz also :D

2600k @ 4.9ghz w/ Hyper Threading ON, gtx670@1337mhz with the below settings I get on average 85fps!

Let me know what you guys think....

I don't understand. BF4 is an improved version of BF3.

How is it that you think this is a good game, but BF3 "sucked epic fail"? Could you tell us why?

They have a different feel. A friend of mine feels the same way. Hated BF3, loves BF4.

RamonGTP, how you like Win8 with BF4, so you really saw a big increase in FPS.

I've done the Win 7 to 8 upgrade on two different systems so far. On my sig machine, the difference was huge, like a completely new machine. A gain of around 30 fps for my minimums.

On another system with a 2500k @ 4.5GHz and single HD 5870, the difference was not so profound. FPS was a bit more stable, didn't have any heavy dips, but average/max fps was about the same which was around 45-50 fps

Hmm, man that's tempting to do. 8.1 right?

8.1 isn't out until next Friday. But you might as well get 8 now, since 8.1 is a free upgrade for 8 users.

Pretty much. It used to be about trying to stay alive because respawns happened around 30 seconds. Now, it's about respawning as quickly as possible so the ADD kids have something to shoot at.

I'm hoping some of the other maps are a tad less frantic. Hardcore might help out.

What? Respawning has been 10s always. Also I live for several minutes most of the time, and 2-4 the rest, it's hardly spawn die spawn die repeatedly .

Punkbuster is causing lag issues. So the current gameplay isn't really a valid one. Who knows if pb will EVER get the shit right but yeah. I hope in private servers with no pb that it will improve.

The map does seem a little crazy. Almost feel like BF is slowly becoming a bigger a COD.

What. In just BF4 or everything?

Forgive me if I find that a little hard to believe.

Has this series finally improved from Battlefield 2? Serious question as that was the last BF game I played on a PC was and I loved that game how does 4 stack up against it gameplay wise?

I always set my 'Q' button for strafe left in every shooter I play. I don't use the WASD method, I do WQSE instead.

Anyways, in the BF4 beta, it always keeps 'Q' as the pop up menu for your squad or team, that little menu that appears near your cross hairs. I erased every setting in game that may have had 'Q' assigned to it, and just made my strafe left 'Q' only, and still, when I strafe left that little menu still appears

This makes the game unplayable.

And the map, feels sucky, no big outdoor desert maps with huge tanks battles and helicopters, That's what I like about BattleField. The BF4 beta map feels like a typical CoD city shooter on foot, little vehicle game play.

the map is a little on the small side, but its alot larger than BF3's beta map and i enjoy it alot more than BF3's beta map also.

Yes, 8.1. Technet subscribers have earlier access.

My wife plays on a laptop with 630M, and she tells me the performance is OK on low. Definitely playable.

What CPU?

I have a 650M, with an i5 and 8gigs. Plays smooth on "high" settings at 1366x768.

Forgot to mention its at 1920x1080.

CPU is an Ivy Bridge i7-3630QM 2.4GHz.

I could play BF3 pretty smoothly at Medium/High settings so I'm pretty sure there's something wrong here. I'm not one of those people who considers anything less than 60 unplayable; it just stutters constantly everytime I turn around and the framerate takes a huge hit whenever I clear corners. Latest drivers and everything. Don't know what else to do.

Its just the beta man. Not much we can do. Hopefully the final version is much more polished.

First on performance (i5-2500k @ 4.2, 8GB RAM, stock 7950) -- No problems at 1920x1080 on ultra with 4x MSAA. Did have a few massive framerate drops, but they were all on one server over the course of 2-3 games, so I'm assuming it was related to that and/or the Punkbuster stuff instead of my hardware. It's been fine on other servers. Visually, looks about the same as BF3, just less blue.

Second -- I hate the beta map. No, I really really hate the beta map. If I wanted to run and gun and not care about moving along a wall or running/stopping behind cover, I'd play COD. Unfortunately, with the beta map design (domination mode) and 16v16, it feels like I'm playing COD.

Weapons wise, it seems a bit unbalanced. Battlepacks are stupid, I liked the BF3 unlock system a lot better because I knew what I was getting and I knew what I had to do to unlock certain items. The revive paddles are slow and clunky, and therefore probably won't be used much.

Was planning on preordering before playing the beta, now I think I'm going to see if I can find more info on the other multiplayer maps. If they're all this small / hectic, I'll probably hold off til it's sub-$10.

Might as well not buy it at all then at sub $10. BF5, BC3, or whatever will be out by then and hardly any one will be playing.

The map does seem a little crazy. Almost feel like BF is slowly becoming a bigger a COD.

The close quarters style does except the surroundings are still not as compact as CoD. Conquest will always separate BF from CoD.... The last DLC for BF3 with capture the flag was amazingly fun. I hope they bring it over to BF4

The M40A5 with 8x scope it gets easier though.

I think what's throwing people off about it is the scale is wrong. What appears to be 500m is about 200m in the game which is probably why the bullets look like they're traveling like a laser with nearly no drop. I also think they need to tweak bullet drop, they behave more like a hard 12-6 curveball instead of an aerodynamically symmetrical object optimized for accurate, long distance travel.

For those that haven't seen it, there is an optional accessory for the snipers for a variable 14x scope...it makes a HUGE difference over the 6x or 8x default scopes.
