Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

Origin is only pre-loading my BF3 at 2.0mb/s. :( I'm cancelling my pre-order next Wednesday. Stupid morons.
 
wow only 200k/s from origin. Fail. preorder canceled.

btw- I WAS getting 4mb/s...now 200k. WTF. Does origin resume if I shut it down then re-start?

EA downloader failed with my pre order of BFBC2
waited 3 days for EA to try and figure it out.
Got it from Steam and EA gave me my money back.

BF3 beta
I had it pre-ordered and I never got my key, had to call them !
Didnt get to play early like everyone else.

Lets hope EA doesnt go 3 for 3 with me

I also pre-ordered it on Xbox and Im going to the release!
So Im playing BF3 on release date damn it!!! lol
 
i cant believe some people are playing now from torrent, and streaming on justin tv,,,,,:mad: preorder cancelled :p
 
Question, those who are downloading from Origin - what does your folder structure look like? Is it like Steam's where it pre-built the directory or did it download a single file that it extracted?

I don't get the Steam fanboizzzm at all. Yea, ok, I understand the valve love etc., but I have been burned by steam several times when purchasing broken and unoptomized crapolla that they permitted to be sold on their network so developers could cash grab their consumer base (I'm lookin at you GTAIV).

The last Steam raping I received was from IL2 Cliffs of benDover, which shouldn't have even been classified as working software when they allowed it to retail, yet steam took me for the full price and refused to refund me shit. After that slap in the face, the only thing I get from steam now is the downloads for the russian keys I purchase at 1/3rd the price.

I'm glad BF3 is not on Steam because steam has taken their monopoly for granted and walked all over their customer's backs.

I dunno why people are complaining about the download speed, you have until the 25th to download the damn thing, so who cares how long it will take.

I dont mind origin, shit i just picked up Dead space 2 and Need for speed shift for $17 for both.

Good deals if you ask me

I had no issues with the speed. It saturated my entire 30Mb pipe through the entire 11+GB download. That said, I found it a bit obnoxious of Origin to use up so much bandwidth and thus I'm cancelling my pre order as well...
 
BF3 requires a keyboard and mouse to play on the PC!?!!! WTH preorder cancelled!
 
I cancelled my pre-order of BF3 when I pre-ordered BF1942.

Why all you guys just cancelling now.

where is the game installer? I pre-loaded it tonight, got it installed and in origin I specified the place I want to store the game installer, but it isn't there. It isn't a big deal now, but i figured for future use it would be nice to have the installer backed up so I can install without having to re-download the whole game again.

I know, what a bandwidth hog. No wonder everyone refuses to use Origin and is waiting for Steam.

Did you have this checked in your settings?

Had a read of the 'Manual' for BF3 through Origin, and found these wise nuggets of advice.

Precautions to Take During Use
`` Do not stand too close to the screen. Sit a good distance away from the screen, as far away as the
length of the cable allows.
`` Preferably play the game on a small screen.
`` Rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes per hour while playing a video game.

I don't get the funny. Those have been the same standard cut/paste safety recs included in game manuals for the last 20 years?
 
Cancelled my pre order... to re order my pre order through Amazon and even managed to convinced the rep to get me the old $49 price for the physical copy. T-Rex dog tags anyone? Fuck yeah. Screw you physical warfare pack.

Isn't the Physical Warfare pack just a free/instant unlock for weapons you'll eventually get down the road? I remember the GameStop pre-order bonus for Bad Company 2 was unlocking the AKS-74U early so I'm just assuming the same for Battlefield 3.
