Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

ea is starting to piss me off with this name change. first they want my CC info, then they want my DOB, now they want 5 alternate names in case the one i want is currently taken. which it is, because its my fucking BC2 persona thats listed on the account. but because bf3 is using the damn origin account name, rather then a selectable persona, my bf3 name is currently a random keyboard mash of keys.
 
I went to starbucks to get a quad for lunch and there were these 2 annoying females with their 4 kids each (most likely from 4 different fathers) taking forever to order their coffee.

Hmmm, been preloading for the past couple of hours, and then I get an error at about 90% stating that I need to exit and login again to continue the download.

I exit and login again to find that the download starts again at 0%. No resume?! GG ORIGIN.

I just canceled it for you....you can thank me on the 25th when the slugs are wasting their lives playing a fps that wont even tie your shoe laces.

The map pack is going to be a seperate download sometime around a month from launch, free if you pre-ordered like we have. The weapons I think are automatic with the game, but don't quote me on that!

Yeah, that I remember hearing, just wasn't sure if it should even be showing up somewhere as a download yet. Guess not, though.

Hey, does anyone know if there's any advantage/need for turning on cloud storage for the game?
Isn't everything saved on your own system, progress/unlocks achieved etc? Or is it server-side?
 
From how information regarding it was phrased, Back of Karkand for BF3 is supposed to be similar to Vietnam for BC2.

So it will likely be a separate self contained stand alone mode I assume.
 
Just setup a new rig, i7 2600k @ 4.8ghz, MSI P67a-GD80 and a Matrix GTX580 that's stable @ 1000mhz I have a feeling it wont run BF3 that well...

I wish there was a way to unlock the game now, such a tease looking at it installed on the desktop LOL

I cancelled it after I heard the game was called Battlefield. I said fuck it and cancelled!

When you install BF3 from Amazon, Origin downloads a 500mb update. I know that doesn't make up the full difference but it explains a bit. Seems Origin already has the "day 1 patch" included but Amazon has a slightly older build.
