France and Russia were a HUGE part of WWI, far more then America was. America didn't even join the war until 1917.

The start of the War was France/UK/Russia/Serbia vs Germany/Astro Hungary.
n MP: British, German, Austro-Hungarian, Italian, Ottoman, and American.

Also the whole "Harlem Hellfighters" pre-order thing.

So it really smacks of history to not include France, especially if they are including the Harlem Hellfighters and will likely have them with American forces instead which is a huge disservice to what they went through.

Because having America in the game is almost a requirement for guaranteeing good sales in the US. It's no different than Hollywood almost never making an Eastern Front WWII film, despite the fact that the Eastern Front was far greater in terms of destruction, brutality, and lives lost.
 
Kids don't even know what WWI is, remember?

I'm sure they spent very little time on historical accuracy. Also, it was rumored that it was alternate-history, so that might be a factor.
 
Exceptionally lame that France isn't included. They were perhaps the second biggest military of the entire war, and Americans essentially used French equipment. And for a while they did most of the fighting on the Western front when the British army was largely destroyed and rebuilding a new one.
 
I don't get it. There were french soldiers and even the Lafayette Escadrille (Americans flying under the French flag) shown in the concept art. Why did they leave them out? FFS.

I know it's cool to hate on the French and all for WWII but they are one of the primary reasons Germany didn't march clear to Spain or cross into England during WWI. They need representation here with something other than their weapons (light tanks, MG's etc.).

If you don't know , the Harlem Hellfighters were an African American unit and in the US command they were regulated to doing labor duties (not combat). The white soldiers wouldn't fight alongside them and eventually they were put under the command of the French.

When they did this the French did not segregate them nor did they treat them any differently then any other soldiers under their command. They allowed them to fight and do everything any other soldier did. The Harlem Hellfighters fought under French command the entire time they were in the war.

So yes, it is a dis-service if they have the Hellfighters without the French and have them serving under US command or such.

I know the history, but are you saying that Battlefield, a video game, needs to be historically accurate?
Clearly things of entertainment, movies, video games etc. leave certain things out for better storytelling or to progress the story in the next installment.

Looking at the tweet, the dev said not in MP, they didn't say not in SP as well.
Look out for French DLC i.e. China with Dragons Teeth. That sucks, but people are asking for it and now they will probably give it at a cost.
 



The Guns sound really clunky in game sounds really nice :greedy: The houses in the game have Wallpaper even...

Post bf3 battlefield fans are much like cod fans, they lose their shit if you change the core gameplay even a little.
 
I guess there are some problems with pre-ordering the game I had problems just today placed two orders by mistake hopefully got them refunded by EA rep.
Thinking o getting a code though Amazon when the time comes with my luck if you get a CD-Keys key it might be revoked.

Does the game show up in the games list with a successful pre-order?

I just chatted with a EA guy you won't get charged for the game until release date unless it's early access or something and the Game won't show up in your Game List on Origin until release date.
So I'm just going to wait until October screw this money pre-order stuff. Origin charges you a 1.00 for every transaction you have canceled also =P BS

I wish the Origin client was more like Steam that is why Steam is great.
 
The sniper gameplay looks terrible. Essentially the same crap that has been in BF3/4, but its even dumber in BF1 as the scoped rifles were even worse back then. So we still have hallway snipers that can kill just efficiently in close quarters as a guy with an SMG. And a weapon that also has the longest range of any weapon in game. BF1 just shows they aren't willing to take any risks or shake up the core gameplay in anyway. They're still trying to appease the (mostly younger kids) who must feel special and be sniper that oddly is an excellent close quarters class. I wish they'd introduce some better sniper mechanics, fixing the scopes, adding in some sway and whatnot to make it actually challenging. Seeing as it was a WWI game I was hoping they would make the gameplay revolve more around longer range shooting mechanics, with the sniper rifles geared towards this. But it looks like more of the same.

But I'm sure the press will eat it up and praise how "different" it is, because they replaced the Abrams with a crappy WWI tank no one cares about. :p
 
People still pre-order EA titles? Yikes.

This game will be another skip for me as I did everything since BF3 vanilla. Nothing changed to support a feeling of the theme being targeted. Such a shame for the people that brought us MOH:AA. I'm Guessing Battlefield: Civil War is next with troop rushing with automatic muskets and rolling cannons.

COD, BF, Farcry - nothing but copy/paste cash cows now.
 
I need a new game , and bf1 will be it. Still play BF4 and GTA5... so yeah, it's time.

I actually like battlelog -- only because I can join favorites, and instead of having to sit IN the game waiting for a spot to open up on favorite serrves, I can surf reddit or whatever else on the PC while I waitin queue.
 
What BS so I got some EA Game Cards to buy the game 60.00 in cards.
So I applied the cards to my account guess what? They want like 2.00 in Tax OMG
So you can't add funds any other way except the cards now I'm going through Walmart.com to buy another 20.00 card I guess I can save the extra money when the DLC is announced.

With Origin, they have the great game guarantee if you preorder so you can easily get a refund after trying it. This is the only reason I ever do it, but usually do it the night before release.

All the LMGs and SMGs are a big turn-off though. I am sick of BF4 and I don't think this is going to be different enough to bring me back so soon.

I am one of those previous COD fans who switched after MW2, but I also grew up playing COD 1 and 2 and UO and was hoping for a return to playing bolts only.
 
Finally got another 20.00 card I would order the deluxe edition except it doesn't include any DLC so it would be a big waste.

Still some things that they need to work on though, like:

1. Why is there no gore? Battlefield games are rated M, so there's no reason that things like nades/tanks shouldn't do some kind of massive dmg with limbs being blown off or something. Before anyone says "What about revives?" Well in the older BF games it was simple, if you got hit by a nade or tank or were in a vehicle and died you died with no chance of a revive. So revives would work just like they used to.

2. Gas Mask - Why's there no filter on it? Kind of useless to have a gas mask with no filter lol. It looks like a typical US issued gas mask, but it's missing the hose that goes into the pouch where the filter was.
