Try 23.5% different! (a 4:3 box fits 1440x1080 vs 1600x1200) That affects the vast amount of 4:3 media, old games, and Nintendo emulators.drleospaceman said:Watching 4:3 media content on a 16:9 and 16:10 screen isn't going to be very different.
For PC monitor use, 16:10 is better in every way. When gaming, having an extra half inch on the top increases your field of view and immersiveness. For general PC use, more pixels is obviously better. 16:9 has less area per inch. Viewing PDFs on my 30" 16:10 in 2-page mode is pristine, and there's even some gray area on the left and right sides; if it were 16:9, there'd be even more gray area and each page would appear smaller.drleospaceman said:So much 16:9 bashing; what are the arguments for having 16:10 over 16:9, for a dedicated gaming & entertainment (TV, movies) monitor?
With games the vertical viewing area stays the same. No matter what your aspect ratio is, the image top and bottom are at the same positions. So with a wider screen you see more. Specifically you see more to the sides which is usually the direction you would like to see more. You don't really need to see more of the sky or the ground (except maybe flight simulators). For PC monitor use, 16:10 is better in every way. I agree. I meant to say that more of your eye vision is taken up by the game, with an extra half inch on top.No matter what your aspect ratio is, the image top and bottom are at the same positions.

Hell I'm still gaming at 4:3, 1600x1200.
16:9, 16:10 I don't care.
But what does matter is that it's.... orange...
Great now I don't have to paint the room orange! The final design is now finished and model is GD245HQ.

I hope backlight bleeding won't be an issue, that's the only issue I have with my ViewSonic VX2268wm. At least the bezel seems very thin which I like and the stand seems reasonable high, as in higher than the ridiculously low 2233rz stand.
Its orange.
I really want to get a 120 hz monitor, but I hear the VX2268wm and 2233rz have issues with ATI cards.
I hope these new displays come soon and without any issues.
Heck yeah you should wait!! I've been waiting for years for a monitor like this. I'm still using my Hitachi 19" CRT becuase most LEDs have sucked until recently. At $400, people cannot complain about the panel being a TN panel. I am already in cyber-line to buy one of these beasts! People who claim to not see the 120hz difference either don't use computers very often or the computer is not set up correctly. Either way they are uber noobs!Damn thats near, is it worth it waiting over an IPS (Dell U2410 or NEC 23" IPS EA231WMi) panel type display??
1920x1200@120hz is not possible over dual-link dvi for those asking for 16x10. I might sell my 2233rz for this if the tests turn out good.
has the 2233rz been a a huge difference for gaming with the 120hz from your personal experience?
Over a 60hz LCD, hell yes. It's also the reason I finally gave up the fw900.
If you can't wait for this acer I say get the 2233rz now and upgrade later becaus there is no 26" LCD top of the line gaming display imo.
Just pulled the trigger on a 2233rz. If its not superb, i am coming for you!
It's superb to me because it was the closest lcd to a CRT in smoothness and speed. I don't do color work on my pc and I watch movies on pioneer kuro so tn doesn't bother me enought to settle for 60hz. If you are not as fickle then maybe the higher end larger 60hz lcds might be better for you. Please don't hold me responsible if it doesn't look good enough, this monitor is meant for speed not looks.
