Man, that's disappointing.
Looks like $799 MSRP it is.
nvidia is no charity
Because 970 launched AFTER 290/x series did, not before...
The fact that 970/980 line of cards werent truly a new architecture, but more of a step up from the 780/TI series of cards with more energy efficiency and a marginal boost in specs.
What that means is that R&D costs have already been realized from the previous generation, so all Nvidia had to do is keep the oven baking and tout the awesome energy savings, which didnt cost them much. That is what allowed them to keep the prices relatively low and outmaneuver AMD.
I would prefer if they optimize for all of their hardware equally... Most people don't upgrade their GPUs yearly. This time next year, Nvidia will abandon Maxwell for Pascal.definitely new architecture.
I went from a 760 to a 970, huge performance gains, whilst the card is cooler and using comparable power at the same time.
In addition various new games are widening the gap as they optimised for maxwell, such as witcher3. On a review of witcher 3 the 760 only managed 23fps vs 68fps on the 970 at 1080p.
http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/gtx-980-retail-price/If the $649 rumor is correct, 980 ti on step up here I come!!
Looks like I will be waiting for ungimped gtx 980ti 12gb silver edition. I waited so long what's another 2-3 months LOL
Rumor, rumor, rumor... needs facts. Have to wait until June 2 for that.
Umm, you can get that card today. It's called the Titan X.
They adopted the AIO WC mentality of AMD.
Nice little copy by Nvidia.

not really nvidia.. more like evga
Um the card officially launched earlier today and reviews have been out since then.If the leaked benchmarks are accurate I think I will be in for two. I would like to be able to import some profiles from Autocad and render some more important stuff from home then transfer to my workstation on the fly.
I think the 980ti's would be able to do this. I may need to get 3 or 4 here.. but that would only be better for gaming Though my co-workers aren't sure here.

I like the way the gigabyte version looks best which is kind of weird. Felt like the old windforces were kind of ugly but good performers.
White?White, eww.
