The GTX280 does not overheat nor is it a POS.

It's expensive though and overpriced now but that's is something else entirely.

Three or four people out of however many thousands of cards sold, had issues with one program, that overheated their cards (but not killing them except for one), and you claim all of them are "overheating POS" as a blanket statement? I can't even describe how big an LOL would be needed to use in this post, so I'll just say it would be a giant one at your comments.
 
No sign of a 1GB card. I'm hoping for a 260 price drop to $330 or less and getting that...

So, i got one from Newegg when it was on the page. I'm debating on if I should keep this, or keep my 8800GTX and sell the HD 4870 on ebay.

yea the more I look at these numbers and consider I run 1680, Im thinking screw the 4870 and *hug my OC'd GTX*

After thinking about this more, I probably WILL keep the 4870 if Vista64 drivers are good. I've had nothing but problems with Nvidia's drivers in Vista lately. Control Panel doesn't work well, forgets settings, won't apply settings to games, crashes after saving settings, etc. (this didn't happen for the first few months...but not its horrible, and I can't seem to solve it without formating the hard drive)

If AMD/ATI has done good drivers for Vista64, then goodbye 8800GTX (sniff) and hello DAAMIT. :D
 
just fyi i run vista 64 with a 3870, it runs fine, no problems, and i always update to latest drivers
 
You ever get the display driver stopped working error for ATI cards?

I recently updated to the most recent 8800 Ultra drivers and after having been gone for 3 months, the display driver stopped working error has started occuring again, causing retarded GPU crashes *sigh*

I only got that on the first 2 drivers that came out for Vista X64 when I got my 3870.....have not seen it since.........although my creative car locks the systme hard every once in a while........
 
i get the display driver crash and restart when i push my OC too high, but if i leave it at stock i'm fine. i'm glad vista doesn't immediately die though. yay new driver model?

edit: push oc too high is like 870mhz/1250mhz for me. i leave it at 855 1201 and the 3870 seems happy. (stock 777 1126)
 
so when does this actually come out on newegg... when is the NDA lifting? i want to buy one and go to sleep lol.

I dont think the 4870 is gonna keep up with the x280 but it should leave it trailing just behind to make sense of the price tag. Cant spect a $300 videocard to keep up with a $600 :cool:
 
I got the Power Color 4870 and I think I got the last one.. only HIS is left. Is Power Color any good? I am not to famliar with ATI brands but im about to be!

Sapphire has an atrocious warranty purportedly... PowerColor is supposed to be good, as is HIS.
