$2500 5090 I’m out

Damn, now I'm interested in getting a Fragbox. It looks really slick.

Interesting that the FNW is already allowing the 5080 FE to be configured with the Fragbox. No 5090 yet tho.

What was custom about it? You must have gotten a real beefy PSU to run 4080+4090 in the same system.
The case? It was a re done re work case you can see it on level one tech called big little pc. It will come up in YouTube. Every case on the internet is to fucking big for a 2 video card setup. Anyway I have a 1200watt ssf power supply. You can drop power to both cards at 70% and not lose any render time. Well, you do lose one second technically per frame rendered

rtx 5080 & 5090
Founders Edition Thermal Grizzly Liquid Metal
Gigabyte Aorus Liquid Metal (no brand info)
Asus strix, astral Honeywell thermal pad
msi suprim Honeywell thermal pad

Asus and MSI have contract with Honeywell. They will use original Honeywell thermal pads not that knock off garbage you can buy on EBay, Amazon and Aliexpress.

Has any games/software been updated yet to be able to make use of these new gimmicks if the cards were suddenly available today?

Seems it's the software support that's holding things up right now.

There was a pretty large list of games with direct support. Additionally the nvidia app will allow updates to older DLSS games (75 titles with profiles in the nvidia app) to swap in the new DLLs like people have been doing by hand. the latter would add new frame generation capabilities and the ML up scaling but probably not other stuff.

Isn't there a special patch or remaster coming for Half Life 2 to enable some crazy cool features only the 5xxx can run?

I only know that there is a rtx remix version of the game they are working on. Was a community mod but is now more official. Also I got no clue on release date, but from what I remember it is not very likely to be close to finished when the 50 series launches.

In short...no. I could sell everything and get a Falcon Northwest Tiki But even if I did make the jump i would be giving up 2 ram slots. These water simulations I am doing are crazy. I am not sure even with the new ram sticks (64gb) would be enough to pull me to sell my current setup. So no I am not going to buy this time. Just keep what i have.
The ASUS Hero x870e Crosshair can do 4 32GB sticks for 128GB total. I think most mobo's can do that, but maybe not if you are using SFF. For 2 slots only likely stuck with 64GB.

You could still upgrade GPU's on your current set up =)

I have 196gb of ram. As for the gpu. I could upgrade them but i just got the PC a few months ago and i do not have any quick disconnects so its really not worth it since its on the name node any ways. I agree. They did not post any raster benchmarks because its not very high. I might just "add" a Tiki and leave the water cooling box in another room. That is "most likely" what i will do.

This one? It's pretty slick. That's like the perfect case for a SLI rig back in the day.

Will the thermal pads be able to keep up? Or is it better to go with the liquid metal?

https://www.tweaktown.com/news/1025...nvidia-5090-is-30-faster-than-4090/index.html

Confirms a 5090 is 30% faster than a 4090 in raw performance upgrade.

All other 5xxx series cards are only 15% faster than previous gen versions.

My rule of thumb on PC "upgrades" I need to see an absolute bare minimum of at least 33% ( 1/3rd ) performance jump for me to even start thinking about it, but usually I only upgrade if it's a 50% or higher jump, because then that's noticeable. $2,000.00 for 30% LOL uh no F'ing way in hell, and $999 for 15% going to a 5080 from my current 4080 not a freaking chance.

Looks like I'll wait for the RTX-6080.

I will say the 4090 over the 3090 being 60% to 70% of an upgrade is the way it should be, at least that was worth the price and a very noticeable huge uptick in performance.

A 5090 over my 4080 looks to be a 50% to 60% "upgrade" and that is potentially tempting, but I like the FE cards and that thing will be sold out in 30 seconds, and then out-of-stock for 2 years most likely.

Not surprised. Same node.
Same 5nm node (4N to 4NP), jump in power draw, architectural changes, and move to G7 memory. Yeah 15% sounds about right. Only the 5090 got any substantial increase in raw shader count.

EDIT: And just going off TDP numbers, the 5070 at 250W is jumping up 25% on the 4070's 200W. I know TDP isn't the full story, but seems power is going to be the biggest factor here.

correct Josh @ NFC re did the case for me made it better in bends size layout its pretty damn slick now. You can't buy the case anymore because the guy's shop caught on fire so i took the last proto type case he had and we just made it better. You can go to patreon and get the file to send to send cut send and they will make the case for you for $350 bux.

I heard 24 liters and shuddered. How do people live with cases that big? ;)

Bro. Do you know what you can cram in that case. Or my redone case...My falcon Northwest Tiki case from ebay came in the mail today and I got some IDEA's

Duel Video cards on a itx case with a SSF 1200 watt OR maybe a bigger MB like a M ITX with duel HD plex 500 watt power supply and a 240mm rad. res Less with quick disconnects. man I have some idea's for real. You could do 128gb of ram itx with 3x ssd slots use the back slot for a

ADT-Link M.2 NGFF NVMe Key M Extender Cable to PCIE x16 Graphics Card Riser Adapter 16x PCI-e PCI-Express for M2

so you could have

2x 5090 (under volt) ( i am not buying 2x 5090) just showing what could be
128gb ram
16tb worth of SSD nvme space
another 2x 8TB sam sung 8tb evo

I am trying to go smaller my dude.

i'm really wondering if I should go after a founders card, or if the board partners are going to be substantially higher clocks? If they can offer 5%+ and not cost much more fine, but otherwise why not get the smaller, sleeker, cheaper card??

We really need to see temp and noise reviews.

I think only the high-end AIB cards will give the ~5% bump you're looking for. And you'd probably be spending >10% to get that. Additionally, the girth and mass of AIB cards will be crazy. Not to mention unicorn puke (Sorry if that's your thing). I don't think it's worth it.

Looks like they didn't even want to bother even painting it. Boggles my mind when they spent so much time/money making a compact FE model only to not make enough of them and throw it in a cardboard box and say here you go. Maybe all that was to prepare for the 60 series and the 50 series is just a throw away.

It took more effort to design an "environnemently friendly" box than just reused the previous one and changing the name on it (card is the exact same lenght as the FE 4090 and would have fitted in the old box directly, that was some effort to do versus doing zero design), for your 600watt do not know how much transistor and energy that went on to make them gpu gamer that care a lot for the environment...

Doesn't boggle my mind. New box looks cheaper to produce than the old. If nVidia can save a buck while marketing their new packaging as more environmentally friendly, it's a win-win for them. It may look like ass, but I doubt that's gong to keep any prospective 50 series buyers away.

only skipped through a couple. is that the actual retail packaging or just the reviewers version?

It looks really sturdy, all of the cardboard layers. Probably stronger than the old box was, cheaper maybe, maybe not to make.

I do know I don't sit around staring at my GPU boxes...

Is Nvidia really going to market a 600w card coming in a compostable box as something environmentally friendly?
Yep, but then who is going to stop them? :(

That being said if the efficiency is at least similar to the 4090, one could argue about it, depending on what you do with the card.
