Microsoft's Very First Web Page, Back In 1994

I first had Net access through a local college in '87-88. I don't remember the exact year, but I was using Archie to locate an update to NetHack/Angband and saw this 'thing' in the new files directory called a Browser. Downloaded it and was playing with it, but at that time there were all of...

    DirectX 12 Is Coming

Now if only we could get game companies to even fully adopt DX10, much less 11, then and only then would DX12 matter to 98% of the PC world.

The Feds Want Our Cars To 'Talk' To Each Other

Ordered some delivery food tonight, and the delivery website had a GPS tracker showing my order in route. Even gave me a picture of what the driver looked like. Big Brother is not only watching, he is living in your back pocket.

Gaming PC vs. Space Heater Efficiency

Known that for years. lol. My PC tends to run 24/7 and has allowed me to shut off the Radiator in my PC room, even in winter. For reference I live in Minnesota, not the warmest of winter states... :)

    Happy 18th Birthday, Windows 95!

In those days I was still a loyal Macintosh user, and remember laughing at all the 'new' and 'innovative' features. I also remember getting a call that night to rescue a couple friends who's car wouldn't start after they got their midnight copies. 4 years later I switched to PC's and...

Star Wars Games Have Been Saved

EA is so NOT good news. Or rather it is like a stake in the heart is good news to a Vampire... So now all remaining SW franchises will be rushed out the door with an over priced Cash Shop and not a clue in freekin hell how to run good CS. Welcome to your new shiny Star Wars release! A dancing...

    MSI Z77A-GD65 Gaming Motherboard

I've been using a MSI Z77A-GD65 (non-Gaming) since last June and really see nothing all that special in the Gaming variant. Cool looking Heatsinks, and built in Killer NIC not withstanding. Now if they had added higher grade capacitors, faster base clock speeds, something like that then it...

1 Terabyte of Data Will Be Sent Daily During Conventions

Pretty certain all this proves is how far behind the times politicians are. The building I work in easily surpasses that daily, 1 major advertising firm, 2 patent firms, 4 legal offices, 2 software firms, and 9 floors of Oracle including a server farm.

Commodore 64 at 30: Computing for the Masses

Gods, the thing I remember most about the C64 was the CLANK CLANK, Grrrr, XCXCXCXCXCXCXCCX, Clank Clattter, Buzz whir, for 5 minutes every time it tried to access even the tiniest file from the Floppy. Well, maybe not 5, but when you were waiting on an area or game to load it sure felt like 5...

    Clean Your Damn COMPUTER!!!!

We had an angora long-haired cat, she shed enough each day to almost make a whole newcat. On day I started getting classic over heating troubles and when I opened the case the fins on all the heatsinks, and the fans, were packed solid with cat fur felt. Much more frequent cleanings after I saw...

    MSI Z77A-GD65 LGA1155 Motherboard Review @ [H]

Just bought and setup this MB this weekend using a 3770K. The only issue I had was that the my cpu cooler needed to have a flange trimmed to not interfere with the first DIMM slot. Otherwise flawless install, updates.

The Misunderstanding - Presented by AMD

    Warp Speed Will Kill You

John W. Campbell mentioned this back in the 1920's-30's in his Arcott, Morey and Wade stories. True he used Time bubbles then, but... Roddenberry, or rather his ghost writer, mentioned long ago in one of the Making of Star Trek books that the ship travels in a bubble and never actually...

Buy The Newton Virus For the Mac

One of the best pranks you could play on mac users, at least some years back. On startup it would sound the error tone beep. You would just go in and edit the beep tone to some LONG sound file. We used "Also Sprach Zarathustra" segment w/ drums from 2001, if the user hits any key during the...
