Thanks a lot. I replaced the PSU and RAM this past weekend, so I had to redo all the cables. I had one BSoD the same day (with the new parts) and non since; to be fully certain, I am planning to do a clean install of Windows 10 and test with the minimum possible number of USB peripherals...
guys, i am asking help from the collective M1 owners:
i have been having trouble with my system since day 1; it would randomly crash, torment me with many many BSoDs with different bugcheck codes, or shutdown during sleep or after waking up from sleep.
to recap: at first, i had a ASRock...
is it at all possible to buy the power switch and the wires that connect it to the motherboard? today i was plugging my headphone/microphone into the front audio/microphone jack of my M1 and as i was pushing the connectors in, my computer shut down! my guess is that the power switch is faulty.
so, basically, i can't use the Silverstone cable out of the box, correct? i don't have any soldering equipment; does Corsair sell any slimline SATA power cable that could be used with their SFX PSUs?
if i get a Corsair 450W or 600W SFX PSU, can i use, say, the slimline SATA power cable that comes with the Silverstone 450W SFX PSU instead of the one that comes with the Corsair? is the pin layout of the power cable (the part that connects to the PSU) the same between the Corsair and...
but can i use, say, the slimline SATA power cable that comes with the Silverstone 450W SFX PSU instead? is the pin layout of the power cable (the part that connects to the PSU) the same between the Corsair and Silverstone PSUs?
i'm asking because i have a SSD and a Blu-ray writer with slimline...
i have that problem, which happens intermittently. i have built my M1 two years ago, and since then i've changed one motherboard (ASRock Z97E-ITX to Gigabyte B85N Phoenix WiFi) and even though it helped reduce the frequency of the system not turning on, it never took care of the problem. i am...
i finally got the time to take out the piece-of-s**t ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard out of my M1 and replaced it with a Gigabyte GA-B85N Phoenix WiFi (thanks iFreilicht for suggesting it), and everything is working flawlessly now. with the Gigabyte board, i got to keep my mSATA drive, and i am able...
my system (which is dead now) used to do something similar; not exactly the same, but similar. once in while, it would shutdown by itself during sleep or while it was on, and restarting it would cause the system to cycle on/off for two or three times (not for a minute) before before finally...
wait, you can overclock with a B-series chipset? i'm guessing it would be just a limited overclock, am i right?
also, does it at all come with a Windows-based utility to define/change fan curves?
thanks for the list. yes, that's what i found as well, that if i want mSATA, i should stick to the 8-series chipset products. would you mind elaborating a bit about your experience with your Gigabyte motherboard? how is the BIOS? can you set a custom fan curve for the CPU and chassis fans...
yes, i was thinking of getting a mSATA to 2.5"-drive adapter and just use it just as a regular storage drive. i think that'd be the most cost-effective solution, given that i have to buy a new motherboard as well; that just adds to the cabling mess though, but i know i won't be buying an M.2...
there is one mSATA port on the backside of the ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard (see this). i am asking whether there are other ITX motherboards with mSATA ports on the motherboard (preferably not ASRock, given my experience with them).
so, after a long time, it finally happened. my computer shutdown by itself while it was sleep and never woke up again. previously, i could turn it back on after a random shutdown by leaving it disconnected for a while, or by pressing the Clear CMOS button, or by pressing the power button (cold...
there are reviews on Newegg about the RAM slots on this motherboard being very flaky. mine is doing another weird thing from time to time. i got this error when i was disassembling my system:
i guess it's related to RAM bank B (and it's the same bank that initiially gave me trouble)? or maybe...
is there any other mITX motherboard with mSATA available? i have a ASRock Z87E-ITX, but it seems to be the causing a lot of headache for me, and the Z97 version doesn't have mSATA. i already have a mSATA SSD drive, and i don't want to go the M.2 route.
i am using Sports' XMP profile (1.35V) on the ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard. the RAM modules complete two passes of single-threaded memtest86+ (about 3 hours of test), but lock up in about a minute in multi-threaded mode. i'll try other the other XMP profile, or disable it altogether and see if it...
thanks all for your replies and helps, and i'm sorry for the late answer (super busy week).
well, it's not a RAM problem per se, but there are reviews on Newegg about the ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard where people have complained about DRAM banks on the motherboard failing or not being able to...
hey guys,
is there anybody here who is using a 290X in their M1? i have it paired with a i5-4670K, both being powered by the 450W ST45SF-G. neither the CPU nor the GPU are overclocked, and they're both running factory stock clocks (the GPU is a Sapphire Tri-X 290X, so it's overclocked a bit...
what happens when your PSU gets overstressed? and how do you determine that it's being overstressed? do you measure the power draw from the outlet? are there crashes/lock-ups?
and would you be kind enough to tell me which filter this one is?
PS: i also noticed that you have one covering the whole bottom of the case. is that the same as the one for the top panel?
ah, so the saga continues...and my computer doesn't turn on again. it was working fine for the last two months or so (before that, i had trouble starting it up, as it wouldn't show any sign of life sporadically -- i posted my experience in this thread a while ago). tonight, i went to start it...
i'm using Silverstone Y-shaped fan splitters, and i don't have any fan speed problems. of course, i only connect two PWM fans to one splitter, and two non-PWM fans to the other.
^ thank you so much. i've been looking for BT drivers as well, since the drivers that i downloaded from Broadcom for the BT did not even detect the hardware. much appreciated :)
