Whenever I get up in the high 1000's of fps I hear a high pitched whine from my video card. Wondering if that could damage the video card in anyway. I usually play with vsync on, but Skyrim seems to have a stutter issue when it's turned on.

No instruction came with them. Seems pretty self explanatory how to use. However, they don't seem to snap on over any of my 120mm fans so I had to screw them on -.-
Running an ASRock extreme4 motherboard and for some reason my computer randomly turns on. I will turn it off, go to bed, and wake up to see that it is back on. I checked the bios to make sure that wake by lan/usb/ps2 ect... is all turned off and it is. This morning I was in the kitchen making...
I just got a HIS 7950 IceQ2 Boost Clock for $320 on Newegg. So far I am in love with this card. O.C'd to 1150 clock and 1450vram. Temps never go past 63C on Furmark, and that's only with 50% fan speed.

Using a ASRock Extreme 4 mb and currently running a set of these in dual channel.

I'll lower the voltage on it later. Actually this is running on the bios's preset turbo option. So I'll manually set it when I get out of class and post my results.
Just got the parts in today for my new build. Took a few hours to put everything together, but I think it looks pretty sick. Look forward to modding this case and some better wire management later on.
Didn't resize pics so yeah... use zoom.
Just built a new comp with the specs listed in my sig. Sometimes when I restart I will get a disk read error. However, it goes away once I restart it. Any ideas?
Trying to enable ultra fast boot on windows 8, but it keeps saying that the vbios doesn't support gop. Does anyone know if there is a bios update with this card that enables it? Also CSM has to be turned off? Not sure what that is, but going to look it up after I post this.
Using HIS 7950...
I am having a weird issue where my keyboard and mouse are no longer available when I get to the windows install screen (The first screen where it wants you to choose some options). Tried 2 different disks and both have the same problem.
I just built a new computer (= so I'm not sure if it's...
I highly recommend this card. Best bang for you buck and can easily OC to be comparable with a gtx 680. Just got one and loving it so far.

In terms of price vs performance. Doing a new build currently under $1200 with HIS 7970 and wondering if it would make that much of a difference going to a 7970 or 670?

Didn't know there was another version of this card. Checking out benchmarks now and I'm pretty impressed so far. Though it looks like I can get a 7970 for the same price as a 670 and get better performance so I just might go that route instead.
Just trying to find the absolute best bang for my...
Discontinued on Newegg and only 4 reviews all 5 Star. Looks like a great card + value over the Gigabyte 670 windforce card I was about to buy, but I cannot find it anywhere. Any reason why?
Thanks.
I think I'm going to go with the Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 for $59.99 + $10 off w/ promo code EMCNJNB23, ends 1/14. Trying to keep my budget below or around the $1000 mark, but I may reconsider.

I am doing a new build and prefer to use a micro-ATX form factor motherboard. I will be doing some mild overclocking.
Build: Intel Core i5-3570K + Asus GTX 670 + 8/16GB Ram
Motherboard budget < $150
Features wanted: UEFI & Fastboot
So far I have narrowed down my search to these 2 boards...
Z77 Professional-M looks like a good choice and has better VRM's, but not many reviews and the ones I find are all negative (mostly RMA's) so for now I'm sticking with the Z77 Extreme4/4-m/6 motherboard.
I have been thinking about upgrading or parting out my current PC and doing a new build, but Im not sure which yet in terms of Price vs Performance. I am mainly focusing on Extreme Gaming/music/schoolwork.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming and data storage.
2) What's your...
Pulled the card back apart and re-applied by spreading a thin layer all the way across the GPU and then wedged a piece of cardboard between the back of the GPU and the backplate before I screwed it on to add more pressure. Then I added 2x80mm and 1x120mm fan right above the video card.
So far...
Alright so got some Antec Formula 7 compound and cleaned the old stuff off with 91% isopropyl alcohol. put a pea sized dot in the middle of the gpu and screwed the heat sink on in diagonal pairs. Booted up and idle at 45'C. Then ran furmark...

Option A. Purchase an Accelero Xtreme GTX PRO Cooler. $40 - $70...
Thanks for letting me know. I will remember that next time I get some thermal paste and see if that makes a difference. Should also get some thermal tape while I'm at it.
So I ran out of thermal paste and have to wait a few days to get some more. Until then (out of curiosity and desperation) I found some wall spackle, filled my empty thermal paste tube, put a pea sized drop on my gpu, and put the thing back together. Anyway here are the results of the spackle...
Alright so I pulled it apart and took pics on the TIM. This pic was taken using the Cross X Method using some brand called Dynex that I never heard of before. Just had a tube laying around. I have been tightening the screws as much as I can by hand.

yeah, if you look at the furmark picture the fan is at 100% actually using a cheap paste called Dynex atm. Might just do something like this

This card has been good to me until I messed with it. I decided to clean out my case and redo the wiring and put new thermal paste on the cpu (1090T) which lowered my idle temp by about 7-8 degree's (33c Idle). Since that worked out so well I thought I might as well do the same with my video...
