Court Rejects Cap on Cable Market Share

Caps in the cable world are silly, especially if done to provide consumers with choice. As already noted, consumers have only 1 choice of cable provider. The self-defeating part is that by capping them, you force them to have higher operating costs by preventing them from gaining economies of...

    Need system advice..

I'm going to be updating my son's computer, but trying to stay within a reasonable budget too. I have a 640mb 8800GTS and will get another one to run in SLI... this will be what the rest of the system is built around. What I need is a good mobo/cpu recommendation, maybe a Q6600 since that...

    Silverstone SG03 new build **PICS**

I used the awl tool on my swiss army knife... just get it under the corner and, as you slide it in, it lifts the grille up from the tab. easier than I expected.

What would be a better build? Shuttle, Q-pack,

Pre-built stuff makes me nervous. Building one isn't hard, in fact it's good to learn that stuff, and it's kind of fun. Just like being able to do routine maintenance on your car. And please get a Sugo. If you're the type of guy that keeps a computer for 7 years, at least get something...

    SG01 vs SG03

Everyone has their own tastes and requirements... in my "case", the computer sits on a white Pottery Barn desk that tries to maintain a simple elegance despite the invasion of technological monstrosities. This is the requirement levied by my wife. If I were single, I would have a huge...

    SG01 vs SG03

I originally bought my ST60F to go in my SG01, ignorant of the space limitation. You can fit the PSU in the case with the optical drive, but there is absolutely no way to fit any cables on either. There is maybe a centimeter of space between the two. DO NOT TRY TO USE A ST60F IN A SG01...

    SG01 vs SG03

Everything tiraides says is 100% true and accurate. Here are the pics I promised.... First shows how an SG03 holds a NT06 and ST60F (short cable kit is an absolute must) Now a size comparison... SG01, SG03, and a full ATX case The biggest thing that brought me to a SG03...

    SG01 vs SG03

I just got my SG03 and am in the process of migrating my parts out of my SG01. I'll try to get some pics of the 2 side by side up for you tomorrow. They are both silver, sorry...

    Is my new motherboard DOA?

Hmm, I was incorrect in what I originally wrote... I tried some other memory module combinations. The 4 slots are numbered from the cpu outward. For DDR, you use 1&3 or 2&4... standard stuff. I can get the comp to post in 3 or 4 or 3&4. Still says single channel mode on the first screen...

    Is my new motherboard DOA?

It's not, I have this one: KHX6400D2LLK2/2G (that's the 2 module set, I have 2 sets, hence 4 modules) The compatability list is rather small, I don't know if it's always feasible to confine yourself to what's on that list. My ram isn't on the Qualified Vendor List for my old mobo either, yet...

    Is my new motherboard DOA?

I just bought a GA-G33M-DS2R to replace my P5B-VM (along with a new SFF case). After swapping, it wouldn't POST. After removing non-essential components, I find I can get it to boot with 1 stick of ram, located in slot #4, and it boots in single channel mode. No other ram slot works, and...

    NT06 and PSU

I seem to be the only person with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817128001 ...but it works great for me. 120mm fan drawing air in from the bottom, plus a bonus 80mm fan pushing it out the back. Fits snug on the NT06, and the modular cables are easy to connect...

Great setup for the price, clearly you've done your homework. Some of the suggestions are good too, but overall, you'll be just fine the way you are. P5B-VM is a solid board, just doesn't overclock.

Cheaper alternative to Silverstone NT06 cpu cooler

Try to find one that is 78mm tall. Or stick the one you get into a vise and crunch it down. Or just suck it up and pay the extra $25 for something that you know will fit perfectly.

    SG03 review.....

At least rubber grommets aren't expensive, so maybe try with and without. Like R3MF, I'd love one without that ridiculous looking side vent. I think everyone will have to explore their own cooling needs.... and solutions. But that's the fun of this, right?

    Silverstone SG03 out

Yeah that side panel seems only useful if you want to mount your PSU upside down and have it draw fresh air. But then what's the point of making it NT06 capable? It's also a lot less deep than a SG01, which I think is great overall. Desk space to me is like real estate in Manhattan..

Best after markte coolers for Sugo SG01?

agreed, NT06 lite (without fan) and a PSU with 120mm bottom intake fan.

I don't hear a thing.... though I am a prior Shuttle owner, so anything quieter than that little dust buster is awesome. Plus, I'm not o/c'd, so no real big load.

    Silverstone SG03 out

If you're not familiar with how the NT06 works with the SG01, it was made to sit right up under the bottom of the PSU. So you get a PSU with a 120mm fan on the bottom, and use that to draw air through the cooler. This way you don't have a PSU fan and a HSF competing for airflow, they use the...
