Nice! My SFF (in sig) cost roughly $1650. The major difference between mine and yours is the video card as I opted for the 8800 GTX. Makes me wish I had the aptitude to build my own PC.

uh, you sure an 8800 cant fit in that?

i have a p180 and my 8800gtx is so long i cant put my harddrive rack in it

Yup, 8800GTS cards fit perfectly in a MicroFly. GTX cards fit as well with just a little modification.

I only have a couple minor suggestions.

1. Consider going with the Abit F-I90HD or the upcoming Gigabyte bearlake board and an E4300 instead and overclock to make up the difference in CPU speed.

2. Use the savings to upgrade to the 640MB GTS card. It will help with higher resolutions.

People will slam the F-I90HD but I have two of them and they both are stellar.
Both are taking an E4300 to 2700 on air easily.

If you do use an Intel branded board, make sure your memory uses 1.8v or less. I have one of their 965G boards (Not working right now so this is from memory) and I don't remember a voltage setting in the bios and I know for sure it didn't go over 1.8v as I emailed Intel to check on that and they said that the max vdimm on the 965g boards is 1.8v.

Don't want you to get a board that won't work with your memory like I did, then you have to start returning stuff and all...

Actually the P5B-VM maxes out at 1.95V

I have one of these also. Its in my wife's machine.

Great setup for the price, clearly you've done your homework.

Some of the suggestions are good too, but overall, you'll be just fine the way you are.

P5B-VM is a solid board, just doesn't overclock.

So is getting the E4300 and overclocking it the best thing to do? Im looking at building a gaming rig myself in a couple weeks. I was looking at the Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R board and an E6600.

I'd look at getting an E6320 and OCing that.

I've never been big into overclocking. The couple times I've tried over the years it usually failed but if you guys think there is a better chance of succeeding with these C2D processors Im willing to give it a whirl :D If not are these processors mentioned faster than my current AMD x2 3800+ at default speeds?

Souroull, since you are building this for your brother and not yourself I'd get the E6600 and leave it alone. Do not overclock. I wouldn't want my brother calling me for help to troubleshoot random errors becuase an overclock is not 110% stable.

thanks for the input guys. looks like i'm gong with this except im going with the 640mbGTS cause its only like 40 bucks more.

now to find out if the PSU in the case has a 240V switch...
