Well it took a while. but looks like the time has finally come for a faster mATX board that meets the needs stated in first post.
ASROCK A780FULLDISPLAYPORT 780G
The #1 reason why this board was chosen is slot placement.
You can use a 2 slot PCIe video card and still have 2 PCI slots for...
Thanks dderidex, your comments echoed my results.
Also, besides the added video capabilities on the Jetway, it also uses the ULi 1573 Southbridge instead of the slower ATi Southbridge used in most online benchmark tests.
These will mainly be for small HTPC's first, and possibly gaming 2nd...
Thanks for the input. It's almost there. A little pricey, but if it meets the needs...
Looks pretty close to the Jetway specs, but no TV out is a deal killer, and even worse, requires at least 300w power supply. That eliminates most small mATX cases used for HTPC. Plus, didn't want to go...
Bios and startup can be tricky if it is even slightly overclocked.
With power off, holding down insert (or delete, forget which), while plugging in power cord and turning on, always will get it to boot here.
Then crank down HTT to 600, and everything else to low low low.
Reboot, and it...
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, it is common for the onboard NIC to stop working at higher FSB speeds.
I use wireless, so that did not matter.
Never any issues with bios updates here.
First thing I did on all 5 I had were update to the "naked" bios mentioned in other thread..
I also need...
(edit: added new post #13 at bottom, Jan 15 2009, with replacement info)
It's been a while since I've been in these threads to view latest trends.
Ran out of current stock of Jetway A210GDMS-PRO motherboards, and seeing if anything beats it yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
If you plan on cranking out the hours, you could always just purchase the 3 year unlimited usage extended lamp warranty for $199 (Part Number: ELW3), and hope the bulb fails before the 3 years is up.
(EDITED. Sorry, I thought 4805 was close enough to X1/4800, but it seems bulbs used are different. X1/4800 uses 150w bulb rated at 4000 hours. 4805 uses bulb rated at 160w to 200w and 3000 Hours.)
The original X1 bulbs had a suggested replacement timer that was set to go off at 3000 hours...
You already have a decent machine in the i6000.
Perhaps you need to look at what you are feeding it in instead of what you are getting out?
The x300 TV out is better than the 6150's TV out, so you will be disappointed.
The P-M 1.83GHz is as fast or faster than many A64 3200+ CPU's, so...
Have tested nearly every TV out solution over the past 15 years, (note my user name, it's what I do), and sorry but I must disagree 100%. It is not even close. The onboard x300 TV out that comes in the Dell 6000 laptop is much better than anything nvidia has come out with for TV out, including...
It would be pointless to go with HDTV for your needs.
HDTV really is made for best use with large screens.
Since the TV image looks terrible when it is enlarged. HD solved that.
Even with a large HDTV, recording and converting is a waste. Here, HDTV from sat DVB-S or OTA is about 9 gig...
You leave out a very important part.
Would you like a $100 bulb that lasted 1000 hours?
$200 for 2000 hours?
These bulbs last 3000 to 4000 hours before the timer kicks in "time to replace soon" warning.
That does NOT mean bulb life ends at 3000 or 4000 hours.
Heck, if lucky, you might get...
Jetway A210GDMS Pro must be included.
The 6 boards I have all do 300MHz FSB. 100% success in all 6 running 24/7.
5 running Opteron 144's@300x9 and other is Opteron 146@ 281x10 because CPU can't handle higher without very high vcore.
Plus hits 2100 in 3dm2k3 with onboard. Not great, but better...
Exact same results here.
Finally gave up on making Aria a decent gaming rig, and stripped it down to onboard video NF2 spare LAN rig. Used it for NASCAR Racing 2003 Season Lan parties every other Saturday night, for about 6 hours each session. Lasted about 3 months, or less than 40 hours of...
(EDIT: Sorry, noticed after posting that question pertains to ECS board not Jetway w/naked Bios that I am posting about below)
Running 300MHz FSB with HTT at 600 (3x), which ends up being 900MHz HTT.
Onboard video and audio still work fine at those speeds.
Loses onboard NIC at those...
Working great here, which is something I can not say for Antec Aria that dies a quick death. Not alone either. Many have had Aria PS failures. Point is, while some (many) may have issues with X-Qpack, even buying a top dollar popular P.S. brand does not mean you will be better off.
There have...
You pretty much eliminated the Biostar as a choice right off the bat.
PCIe x1 slot is off to one end, (some other brands put x1 slot between PCIe x16 and PCI), so any video card with a cooler will occupy one of the two PCI slots, leaving only one PCI slot for a sound card. Then, no slots left...
As I noted above, the cold boot issue only happened when I tested my Opteron 146.
Now that I am using Opteron 144, there is no cold boot problem at 300MHz FSB.
Works great!
With Opteron 146, while it would test fine at 300MHz FSB, it would not cold boot at anything higher than 245MHz FSB...
Change the 6150/430 to ATi, and you can have all the rest already! (hint, see my other posts).
I too am looking for the same things as you, but also add DDL (or a new type of soundstorm). Thought the Gigabyte 6150 would be the one, but after receiving the board, found the Bios was missing all...
The advantage of the Opteron is it's overclocking ability.
No overclocking, no need for Opteron.
There are cheaper CPU's with stock speeds faster than stock Opteron.
Plus, if you don't have an Opteron yet, pretty much forget about it, as retail supply has ended.
First, want to thank sleepeeg3 for the "naked" Bios. Works great!
Bios settings that matter here. If not listed, the setting is left at default.
Not using SATA.
2-512sticks Rosewill PC3200 low end ram set at CL3.0, 7, 3, 3 dual bank enabled, 1T.
(I could go 2.5, 7, 2, 3, but didn't make...
It was my Opteron 146.
Installed Opteron 144, and it also had no problem hitting 300MHz FSB.
Cold boot is fine.
Prime95 for 4 hours so far, with no problem.
Because it's only 9x, can only run it at 2700MHz, but at least it's stable.
Only ranked #3 in 3dm2k3 with a score of 1990 using onboard.
Ordered the Opteron 146 couple weeks ago from Tankguys. No longer available. Have a 144 on it's way from Chiefvalue.
Never had to clear CMOS with the ATi.
Simply held Insert while cold booting.
This allowed it to boot at stock 200MHz FSB, but still kept all Bios settings as they were last...
So far just tested the refurbs with same CPU to confirm they worked fine, even though they were factory sealed "true" refurbs. Waiting for memory (tested with Cheap Rosewill PC3200 sticks) and Zalman, then will assemble and stress test further.
But just wanted to make the point that 300MHz...
First post here, (Anandtech and DVB-S forums for years). Been lurking for a while.
Had to finally register to tell my great experience, since it looks like some of you are bailing on the Jetway.
While looking for info on the new nvidia 6150's, came across the Jetway threads. THANKS!
Picked...
