Not using onboard.
Luckily it is a Buffalo g54 USB network adaptor. No problems.

can you tell me of your settings in bios , this would help others along with myself

First, want to thank sleepeeg3 for the "naked" Bios. Works great!

Bios settings that matter here. If not listed, the setting is left at default.
Not using SATA.
2-512sticks Rosewill PC3200 low end ram set at CL3.0, 7, 3, 3 dual bank enabled, 1T.
(I could go 2.5, 7, 2, 3, but didn't make much difference in tests, and occasional glitch.)
UMA(128meg) + Hyper, 256 Aperture, Async, 350MHz, 100MHz clock, Force TV.
LDT enabled. HTT 600MHz (Should end up being 900MHz when using 300MHz FSB).
Onboard AC97 disabled. Azalia enabled.
Init display Onboard.
AMD Cool n Quiet Disabled. (it already runs cool and quiet enough for living room HTPC).
CPU ratio x9, CPU clock 300MHz, dram clock 233MHz (466MHz DDR), vcore 1.5v, overvoltage enabled, vram 2.75v, chipvcc 1.8v.

When overclocking, started by setting ram low (133MHz), and HTT at 600, then rebooted. Set CPU multi at 6x, and FSB at 200, rebooted. Raised FSB by 20 until hitting 240, rebooting after each to confirm Bios setting took. After 240, went up 11MHz at time until 284, then went 291. Raised CPU mult to max (x9), reboot, then went 295, then 300. Done.

It's frustrating this board must have the same voltage issues that plagued so many early boards.

If it can DO 300mhz, just not at a 'cold boot', clearly it's not setting the voltage properly on bootup.

One wonders if a vMod on the mobo would be in order....

As I noted above, the cold boot issue only happened when I tested my Opteron 146.
Now that I am using Opteron 144, there is no cold boot problem at 300MHz FSB.
Works great!

With Opteron 146, while it would test fine at 300MHz FSB, it would not cold boot at anything higher than 245MHz FSB. Perhaps a voltage mod may help, but since it happens at such a low speed, while other CPU works at much higher speed, I don't think more voltage is the answer.

i'm wondering what it could be then

i know with my dual core 3800+ i had problems with memory . the memory requires 2.75 to work . where before with the venice it was fine at 2.65

questions is all i have of this board
