What is a good monitor to get for my dad?
He likes to see things big on the screen and given that high quality monitors usually feature a high native resolution, what would be a good monitor for him?
I was thinking of a 19 inch monitor with 1440x900 monitor which would be the lowest resolution...
I have a XPS 410 (Dimension 9200) and I got it because it is a very quiet system.
However, after a few years, the system is not that quiet anymore due to some sort of vibration in the case. It makes a rattling noise of some kind and it pisses me the hell off. Sometimes I can just move the...
Thanks guys, looks like I'll have to shell out $84.99 in this dying economy.
I was going to mention that my Dell is a BTX layout, but it seems that this is still compatible. Thanks guy for the quick answer to my seemingly complex problem!!
Hi all,
I have a Dell Dimension 9200 (XPS 410) and due to a recent storm one the power lines connecting to my house fell off and all heavy electricity sucking appliances didn't work (washer, dryer).
My dad tried turning on the dryer and every time he did it, the energy levels in the house...
Your 1905FP is actually a great monitor. It is either a Samsung PVA or AU Optronics P-MVA model. Either way, both panels are good all-around and are much better than the crappy TN panels. Nowadays, most "modern" monitors sold are TN panels. If you like your 1905FP, I'd suggest just keeping...
Thanks for all your reply guys, I especially enjoyed the information about the HP LP2275w because it is a S-PVA panel and all the other good discussions about TN panels. Further research, however, shows it has lots of problems and rarely is a customer that bought it happy with it, although it...
I was thinking of getting a 22 inch monitor, because my 20 inch monitor is a little too high in resolution for my dad. He can't read the small print and actually prefers the a bigger, non-native resolution because the words are bigger. Anyway, coming from a Dell 2001FP (S-IPS) I know what a...
Cool, thanks for the pressurized air tip. I guess I'll have to unplug all the cables and then take this computer outside to blow some air on it so all that dust doesn't end up in my room. It's a hassle, but I guess necessary for maintenance.
Cool, thanks again guys. You guys are the best. :)
Hi guys!
I have a Dell Dimension 9200, better known as a XPS 410 and the front fan, which intakes the air to cool the CPU is terribly dirty and is making noises. Now this is supposed to be a silent computer and it was when I bought it, but now there is buzzing and vibrations and I think it...
How did you get Dell to replace your 2005FPW?
My 2001FP recently broke and I was heart broken for some time. I'm convinced its easy to fix if anyone knew a little knowledge on monitors. I'm not sure if Dell would take it back because it is past its warranty period. I thought the same would...
So does anyone know what panel the Dell 1908FP is...or where to find out? I was always curious as to where they found out information like this. Where do I find out? I usually find out on HardForums..lol :p
Wow the difference in the image quality between those two monitors is amazing. Personally, I can't stand to have something ugly next to something that looks sooooo good. BTW, how do you like those speakers? I think those are one of the best 2.0 speakers.
I have an unopened 2007FP, should that be better? It has 800:1 contrast ratio. I remember when I got that 1907FP, that thing was majorly bright. Same with my 1905FP..it must've been the contrast ratios were higher. The 2001FP works out for me so far.
great thread, I really appreciate my 2001FP a little more now because it is S-IPS. Again, I'm still wondering if going from S-IPS to S-PVA would be a turn off. I do get 4 extra inches....but different colors in the left eye from the right eye...hmmm.
I don't mean to thread jack, but how about...is it possible to OC my Core 2 Duo in this Dell mobo and Dell Bios? Maybe a hardware mod?
Also SentToSchool, is your Seagate 7200.10 loud? Mine is the loudest HD I have ever owned and I have been through quite a few hard drives. Clickity Clacky...
good thread, I want to know too! What about the Dell 2407FPW? Is it not even a contender? That would be bad because I like THE BEST products and I'm planning on getting a Dell 2407FPW. Tell me I'm not making a mistake.
I am thinking of getting a 2407FPW but as you can see from my sig, I have a 2001FP which arguably has one of the best image quality of all displays. I wonder if I'll be ok? I know I got a 1907FP and it WAS HORRIBLE. That was seriously my bad because I didn't research it and when I found out...
I have a Dell 2001FP for sale that is lightly used
and
a Brand New Dell 2007FP Rev. A02. - $330
I'm in San Francisco, CA, I wonder if there are any local buyers. If not, I can ship. I'll post the price when I do more research, but just seeing if there is any interest.
tilt is just tilting the angle of the screen. you probably want to [I]rotate[I] the screen. Dell UltraSharp Monitors can do this. I have a Dell UltraSharp 2001FP. I have a monitor for sale, maybe you'd like to buy.
SATA II and SATA I doesn't make a difference either. NCQ doesn't make a huge difference and in fact in some instances it may hinder performance. It does make the drive a little more organized and you will have to defrag less. This is just my personal testimonial.
Dude the Seagate 7200.10 is NOT QUIET. It is probably one of the loudest drives I have ever owned. I wonder if some other people can add their testimonials to this.
The quiestest drives I have owned so are the WD1600JS, my current WD4000AAKS, and a Hitachi Deskstar 80GB.
Like the person that brought this thread back up, a low profile card is like a sawed off card. It's like half the size of a regular single slot card. It's primary use is in small cases.
Low profile card...
That isn't a low profile card. It's single slot, but not low profile.
Hmm, and on a random note, do you think I can ever overclock my C2D on this Dell machine? I ask here because the answer will probably be a short "no".
