Nvidia Titan V

The Titan like last time just gets replaced again. 24GB GDDR6 on GV102 Titan? Or a 16GB HBM2?

Hmmm yeah but GV100 already so I don't see them doing another any time soon.
Probably go GDDR6 unless they do the same failed dies approach and the memory controller requires it. At 3k they probably don't give a shit about the tiny margin difference.

This card is 100% focused to "poor" AI researchers, so I wouldn´t be surprised if we see a gaming oriented Titan relatively soon.

You all should check out this members build,

You jest, but I was like, hmm Titan V or 1/2 down for a new Ninja 400 motorcycle.
I mean, that makes sense if you're just buying a video card. Myself, I had to make the decision between upgrading my car or CPU this year, and I chose the former since Skylake-X didn't arouse me in the right way.

However, the linked PC costs well north of $30k, so that's on a whole other level.

Yeah there is a intake on the back end of the card on the side near the fan still really close which is just the way the motherboard is layed out.

Are there any new benchmarks?

It seems oddly quiet, even if it is a pro card. Even Vega stepped out for 2 days so far from this thread. Even OCN forum has nothing. *shrug*

At $3,000 a card not many sites are going to throw that kind of coin at it knowing very few would buy it no matter the benchmarks.

Probably cause it is $3k and Nvidia is not sampling any cards to reviewers. Going to take a few days to get the card and run it through the ringer. Linus has a video up atm unboxing it and should have more detailed videos in the coming days.

Damn. If they solve the throttling and somehow up the clock speed even higher on the gaming version, 4k with 60fps min may be possible on many next-gen titles.

1180 should easily run 2.5ghz+ with less cores, I think Volta's extra shading cores are overkill, MHz is the key to push more fps at 4k.

The extra cores are overkill? You realize shaders alter every single pixel on the screen every single frame, yes? If it was all about core speed then a 2.2 GHz 1070 should be outperforming a 1.9 GHz Titan Xp at 4K.

Honestly neither of these 2 posts are making any sense to me :)

Hardwareluxx has benchmarks, too. German text but it can translate in Chrome.

All they need to do is remove the extra silicon for all the DL and HPC stuff and they will be set ;)

oh yeah and fully enable all of its memory controller which will enable the rest of its ROPS.

I'm going to hope for a more reasonably priced Volta based top model in the $1,200-$1,500 range instead. This is just nuts. I could buy one right now, but I refuse to spend that kind of money.

I guess they are trying to get one last hurrah out of Pascal for the holiday season before Volta starts trickling out next year, for those who just have to have the latest and greatest.

Pascal? V is Volta.
My bad. Been going through a crazy time at work and haven't had a chance to read through what this thing is yet. Based on the price tag I assumed it was some one off special edition thing or something like that.

If this is seriously where they believe Titans should be price wise going forward and this is the normal Volta Titan then I am out. This is just nuts. Even the $1,000 I paid for my Kepler Titan back in 2013 and the $1,200 I paid for my Pascal Titan were nuts, but it was manageable nuts.

This is a 200% price increase for a not very significant performance boost.

This is just out there in insane-o land. I'm amazed anyone is willing to jump in on this.

If you think its targeted at the gamer you couldn´t be more wrong. Gamers have to wait for the GV102 Titan.

This is the Titan Line, looks like they have removed the Titan moniker from the Geforce line, so I don't think there will be anymore Titan Geforces. All Titan cards will be targeted at HPC/DL customers only, and they will from now on always have DP units and Tensor cores.

From nV's stand point they know people that want it will buy it, price withstanding. I don't know if they will replace the current Titan Geforce price range with lets say a full GV102 and call it something else like a GTX 2080 Platinum, or what ever, and then have a slightly cut down Ti.....

But they know if gamers are going to get the Titan V for gaming, they make big bucks..... People buying this card should be smarter and should wait for what their needs are.

If the entire core was gaming oriented maybe I'd pay $2k for it. Then you'd get a 70% increase over Titan Xp (60% probably more realistic).

I agree with Zarathustra... this card isn't for me. To some people $3k might be worth it. I'd do it if I was single.

Seems likely to me that they'll still release a GeForce Titan. Even for people that regularly go for the Titan cards, $3K is a huge jump in price. It would make sense to fill that gap in the $1K range still, unless the next Ti is going to cost north of $1000 - which I don't see happening.

I don't think they will call it a Titan, maybe the Ti will be the 1k, and xx80 will be 700, and xx70 will be 500? Who knows we will find out soon though lol.
