I just picked up 5 2TB WD green drives to replace 4 750GB Seagates in my server. Can someone with experience removing drives in WHS give me a ballpark on how long it takes to remove a 750GB drive from the storage pool? I don't bother with storage balancing, so all four of the drives are...
I felt a brief period of buyer's remorse after buying my PX2611w, which mainly occurred between clicking "submit" on Amazon and the following day when it arrived. That all went away when I started using it. Love this monitor - it was well worth the cost IMO.
Does anyone know if there are any issues restoring the storage pool during a reinstall, if the motherboard/CPU is upgraded in the process?
About half of my drives are using onboard SATA at the moment, and about half are using a Supermicro 8-port card. I'm planning on setting up the WHS trial...
If you can't find a replacement fan that's compatible with the installed heatsink, you could always consider something like the Zalman FB-123, although it's not so much a replacement as an alternative.
Right now I just have shared folders mounted as network drives on my PCs, and mounted as SMB volumes in XBMC on my HTPC. I have streamed video to the PS3 with Vista Ultimate, but I expect I would need a 3rd party program under Server 2008.
I had originally hoped to use my PS3 as a HTPC...
I most likely will go with a 4050e or 5050e build in the future, but I'm leaning toward holding off for the time being to reduce costs. Performance-wise, with hardware RAID it doesn't seem like the slightly faster/newer platform will significantly increase performance, so my only real issue is...
I've been planning on rebuilding my media server for a while now. Right now I've got around 6TBs of space (2x1.5TB, 4x750GB, 1x400GB for the O/S), running on an old socket 939 DFI LanParty Ultra-D with an Opteron 146 (running at 2.5GHz), 2GBs of RAM and an Antec EarthWatts 650 PSU.
I found an...
I went ahead and picked this up since it showed up in stock on Amazon Wednesday morning. (Prime trial with $4 overnight shipping is pretty nice on something this big). It arrived yesterday and I've been putting it through its paces since then. Overall I am happy with it - there are no dead...
Is there any noticeable difference with regard to text quality on the PX2611W vs the NEC 2690? I've narrowed down my choices to these two monitors, and it seems like the Planar would be a better choice (although it seems to be out of stock everywhere at the moment) since it's less expensive and...
I've played with the settings quite a bit trying to get it to the point where it doesn't give me headaches and bother my eyes, and it has helped somewhat, but not nearly enough. It basically seems like the eyestrain I experience is significantly worse with the Soyo compared to either the 19"...
What's the general consensus on text reading on an IPS panel compared to *VA or TN?
Right now I'm using a P-MVA 24" Soyo, which I "upgraded" to from a Mitsubishi 2070 CRT. I hate the Soyo, I don't know if it's the panel type or the brightness, but I have terrible eyestrain with this monitor...
Is there confirmation on this? I would consider picking one up if they were $70-$80, since I have an older (8/06) 360 that would benefit from the added cooling, but if this thing winds up being $125+... there's no way in Hell I would pay that for a 360 case. The Arcade is being reduced to $199...
The rebate is through Myrebates411. I've submitted 3 rebates through them so far over the past few years, two for Sapphire video cards, and one for a Foxconn socket 939 board. The first one I had to resubmit, the second I had to resubmit, contact them several times, and then finally contact...
