Cyberpunk 2077

Is clothing in the game just cosmetic or does it bring w it defense and stat bonuses?

It's 99.9% flavor at this point

I think there's some pieces that provide an extremely small amount of armor. Effectively nothing.

You can wear whatever drip you want with no ill effect

Is path tracing worth it? I dont have it enabled bc i am enjoying max/ultra settings everywhere else with really smooth frames

If you have the hardware, absolutely

Do you have to gpachieve some kind of rep status w the cops in order to assist them when they are battling gangs? I joined in helping them shoot Tyger claw gang members and all the cops turned and started shootng me. I reloaded and tried it again making sure I didn't hit any cops by mistake and the same thing happened.

Thx

My system definitely cannot do path tracing. Frame was prob 1 per sec when i enabled it. Happily game still looks awesome without it.

Cops will get on you for farting. Fighting near them is just asking for a shit show in general, they're obnoxiously temperamental.

They don't give a shit who they kill actually. They will (comically) even murder civilians who accidentally bump their car.

If you see them fighting, just enjoy the spectacle. Deliberately fighting the police will escalate quickly into the equivalent of a natural disaster.

I can't bring myself to watch content from any tubers lately...
Check out Cockney Gamer. Small channel but very straightforward and honest, with a bit of British humour thrown in. No gimmicks or hype, except the occasional "That's what she said!" joke.

I thought this was toned down after the release as they got a lot of criticism for cops going nuts all the time?

It is worth it if you can get decent framerates. It is not a giant leap over RT like RT is over non-RT, but it makes lighting more natural and creates more believable shadows in dark areas that can be affected by light sources. PT is definitely a step up from regular RT, but I wouldn't play at 40fps just to get it.

PT is highly demanding though so expect heavy tweaking and upscaling from 1080p or below, unless you have a 4090/5090. For 1440p you can probably run it on a 4070ti super with DLSS Quality, but for 4k a 5070ti or 4080 with some tweaking of less impactful settings and DLSS performance is needed. My 5070 ti ran it fine at 1440p with DLSS quality and RR, but I needed DLSS performance and some tweaking for 4k. You also need 16GB of VRAM to run PT, 12GB will most likely run out. Should be noted that DLSS performance 4k renders at what would essentially have been ultra quality at 1440p. The TF model makes DLSS much better than it was so upscaling from lower resolutions isn't too bad. I wouldn't go below DLSS quality at 1440p or performance at 4k though.

9070xt 16gb will definitely not do PT at 4k

Nah they are maniacs and will flatline any gonk that crosses them.

If you mean the release of the game, though, the system is completely different. At release there practically was no police system - it was just legitimately bad to the point that it's embarrassing it even shipped like that.

There's a RT plus mod on Nexus mods that looks kind of close to PT (morel like cheaper psycho rt). I'm running that and FSR 4 performance, FPS is solid enough to enjoy the game. The game is fantastic now, I had no idea it'd changed so much since I played it. It feels like blade runner gta rpg with the new police system and gang fights.

Is that RT mod better than using the default RT settings? I have RT maxed and its looking good to me and frames are smooth

If you can brute force RT fully in game, no need for mods. They are just to help systems that need a boost, other than a few like 'Fake Lights No More' and 'Enable Advert Animations' that clean up a few errors. (IMHO/YMMV)

I have tried at times to help the cops kill wanted criminals, and have had it go sideways more than once, playing recently. They seem to hate interference.

It adds pathtrace bounce lighting and the performance is roughly equivalent to RT Ultra. I can try uninstalling it and see if it's placebo though. Could just not be doing anything in 2.3 I don't think it's been updated. I did see it turn on and you have to configure it to RT + PT.

Game looks pretty great without any kind of mod tweaks, I'll leave it as is since its running well

The city really is packed with cool stuff to experience, damn impressive game world they created. I never played gtav or red dead redemption 2 so I dont know how it compares to those, probably not as good as rdr2 bc from what I've seen that seems to set the standard for most detailed and "alive" gameworld in terms of what nature is doing

OK, I thought it sounded like Just Cause 1, where if you picked a fight with the police they would just spawn new units continously so there was no chance of getting away, thus making even a accidental bump into a police car a reload of the latest save.

Cops are pretty easy to hide from and de-aggro in this game.

I love RDR 2 but it's a much more empty game in terms of what needs to be rendered on the screen. Rockstar can't be topped in terms of world interaction IMO. But this game has it's own strengths. Since the last time I played it they completely redid the way health items work, overhauled the item system, overhauled skill system completely, added passive skills you gain from playing, it seems like all of the play styles are viable now due to the changes. They added a star system and cop system akin to GTA, they added random crimes and the ability to fight with gangs and cops at any time, they added the ability to steal cars from people if you have enough body stat. Having said all of that, I feel like I'm just scratching the surface. Aside from the story, it feels as close to playing a new game as it could without being one. I've forgotten a lot of the plot points aside from the main strokes so I'm still enjoying that as well. It's a little shocking how much better the game is now than it was a few years ago. The game was definitely releases years early so it could make it out on a larger install base.

If you haven't played phantom Liberty you're going to love it

Better than the main game

How does having 2 OS installed worked, I have my main one upgraded to 2nd tier and now sandevistsn OS for slow mo but how do I quickly access the slow mo time in sandevistan bc it is not my main OS that I have activated outside of combat

Looking forward to it, yeah i played well before it. I'm using optiscaler still because AMD is taking forever for a new driver, its fine either way. I was going to wait but couldn't.

Can anyone recommend any good guides that are current with the latest two point three I don't want to watch guides that are have info that no longer applies

Agreed, guide for what? This game is too easy IMO. I think you can make any build work with normal common finds for the most part. I played contagion / pistol and snoozed through the action including all the advanced killers.

Okay let me specify

It's easy to kill the enemy the combat is kind of a joke even on hard, might switch to psycho. I just hack them all to death and take over turrets and cameras to kill them from afar
What I meant was a guide to understanding how the systems work, like build/level up best approaches, , and like the cyberware for example, there are tons and tons of optional. For example, I bought a second cyber OS sandevision but it's unclear to me how I would use it because it looks like you can only have 1 OS active at a time and I don't want to get rid of my main OS that allows me to do all the hacking. So how am I goiing to slow down time

For multiple OSes, you have to install a mod. I ended up doing that because, like you, I wanted the slow down time mod but also the hacking mod. Yes it makes the game even easier, but it is fun so... :D

By mod you mean a fan made mod downloaded from mod nexus, not an ingame mod? I will look for that on nexus if so

Ya sorry, a fan made mod on Nexus mods. The game by design only allows you one OS, so you have to choose what you want. They want you to have to choose if you want to be a hacker, have slow time, or have more cyberware. However someone on Nexus mods decided that the answer should be "all".

Playing a super easy game with more mods that make it super super easy sounds like a plan…
I mean there are mods to make the combat harder, but to me it made sense because it wasn't like adding in the mods really changed the game a lot. It wasn't like I was getting my ass kicked and then it was a cakewalk. It just made things more fun. Game is not about challenging combat, it is about story, environment, and being a badass.

Yeah I turned the difficulty up all the way as well, even playing melee I'm just blowing through the game. The voice acting in this game definitely needs some work, it feels stilted and unnatural compared to GTA 5. It'd be nice if V wasn't such an edgelord all of the time as well. Keanu does redeem it a bit, but the way they chop up his voice lines can make it rough as well.

Totally agree with Keanus voice acting. It's almost like they just had him record random words and they pieced them together into sentences. I'm not sure if that's what they were going for or what, but it's off putting at times.

I guess I found the voice acting throughout serviceable to very good. I played a run with a male V and then a female V. And Keanu really put in a lot of work. I wonder how many total lines he had in all?

I am enjoying Keanus performance and the Silverhand character more and more.
The writing and most quest lines including the romance in this game is top notch, kudos to the devs and writers

When it started, I couldn't understand why he sounded so flat, it was weird. But like you, as I played the game and got to know the character and what all is involved with it, it made more sense and it really grew on me.

It's rare to play a game that has writing and acting quality as good as a well-made big budget movie or TV show, but this game has that
