Interesting, I thought this was going to be a 8/10 game.
But then again, Days Gone got merked by reviewers and I'm enjoying the hell out of that.
So not too worried...
seriuously wish they had game demos. I want to try this.

ACG review:
I've started waiting on everything because I don't want to be a volunteer bug tester.I'm glad I waited, it does look decent but not a day-one buy for me. On a sale? Definitely.
Typical spread. This game wasn't going to be Shakespeare. It wasn't going to be first person Witcher 3 or (insert hallowed game title here.)
reviews are pretty much exactly what I thought they would be- a 7.5- 8.0 game...definitely not worth $60...
I don't know that a 7.5-8 isn't worth $60, but this seems to be more of a 6-7 game on average.
the review score itself is not the reason why I don't think it's worth $60...the reviews detailing the game are what determined that...open world and story doesn't sound all that great...combat seems like the best part...but after playing a game like Sekiro which I did pay full price this doesn't seem on the same level...
Not sure why you are comparing an action game to a FPS but of course it’s not on the same level. It’s designed to be a power trip not a hyper challenging thought-based combat game. Can’t fault the “it’s not worth $60” thought, I happen to agree, but it’s a weird comparison to make.

I watched the 10 minute or whatever gameplay teaser and I have to say that it left me deflated.
I know they gave the demo-er OP weapons in order to show them off, that isn't what bothers me. It's that a big portion of the spirit of RAGE is missing.
RAGE was definitely not a 9/10 or 10/10 game, but it had certain elements that made the game unique and I would have hoped that the sequel would have kept those and developed off of them.
Namely the combat. The combat in RAGE was probably one of the most interesting unique things about it. The enemies would hop over things, crawl on walls and ceiling. Traverse railings. Be otherwise hard to hit. And fast. Although a lot of it was scripted, it made it challenging (or at least created the perception of challenge) and interesting and (dare I say the forbidden word) fun. The weapons were designed around this. Allowing for multiple combinations to suit the situation and the player. RAGE then was all about combat and player choice in how to "solve" combat.
The feel of the game has also changed a lot. From a very bleak apocalypse to a very "reveling" in the apocalypse sort of feel. And that is echoed in all the promo materials with mohawks and pink hair and otherwise being "extreme".
Where I wanted the game to go was having meaningful characters (all of the original RAGE's characters felt inconsequential despite their very cool character designs). Hubs that had real stakes. Game progression that felt like it had weight and meaning. And perhaps less linear levels. Although the "linearness" allowed the game to feel very "tight". Which is more a design choice than objectively a fault. I think what I mean is that the game would feel better if at least it was like Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past. Where you have multiple objectives and you solve them in any order so at least there is more of the illusion of choice rather than being so locked in to a straight path towards the end.

I don't know if this will be a worthy successor or if it's really a successor at all. It looks more like Serious Sam meets the Apocalypse rather than a new RAGE game. And I guess that's okay. But as this game seeks to attract a new player base, I imagine the folks like me who actually liked the original (despite its many faults) will feel alienated.
at least watching the play through it just feels like a borderlands clone without the cartoon style graphics. i never played the first one so i don't know how it compares to that. hell even some of the sound effects sound exactly like the ones in borderlands.
I'm surprised they didn't go with id Tech engine for this...that's probably why it doesn't look as good as people were expecting...
