Deus Ex : Mankind Divided

I dunno, for some reason the graphics/animation seem stale/dated to me. Just starting the game, but the gameplay is also lacking. Solid game, but not buying the hype yet.
The game has been in development for 5 years. I wouldn't expect to see a huge improvement unless they were planning to redesign the graphics in the late stages of production, which would have been costly and caused further delays.

Nvidia's drivers were out way early.

I doubt those drivers were anything but placebos...wouldn't surprise me to learn that they didn't even get the game until after release...Nvidia loves releasing 'game-ready' drivers for every big title on or before launch day mostly as a marketing ploy...**I'm an Nvidia user so no this is not me being an AMD fanboy

in the videos and screenshots I've seen the graphics can look very sharp in some places and blurry and washed out in others...character models also don't look all that great

And we're supposed to trust these Devs with our DX12 games...

Mouse feels terrible. Sharpen filter is disgusting. Game has a lurching feel performance wise. Official SLI profile is garbage. Gsync doesn't seem to be working on my system. Have to test more later.

Anyone else notice the intro to the game must've been tacked on at the 11th hour?

, like barely noticeable dots, almost like wire frame points showing on her skin/forehead.
I thought I was seeing things when I noticed this, very weird. I also notice that, at times, faces can look quite pixelated ... hard to describe.

Human Revolution never felt particularly smooth, properly paced (frame-wise) and the mouse aiming was a little off. So the fact that these things are happening on this one doesn't surprise me. I mean, overall HR performed fine, but it always felt a bit glitchy, the character animations were stiff and erratic, (especially in conversations) some texture choices were a bit odd, etc. I don't think working on the engine/rendering is this studio's strong-point.

The thing was, the game as a whole was so good, that I didn't really care. I assume this one will be the same. I plan to pick it up sometime next week or the week after maybe. Still enjoying NMS a bit too much to switch yet.

I don't remember that at all, I remember playing HR on a 6950 and it being immensely smooth it ran very consistent like 80-90fps (1080p) no problem. This game is by far more clunky with frame rates all over sub 60 with a 980 at 1080p.

It was fairly smooth, but felt a little off to me. No problems with the actual frame rates either. Consistently high, but it didn't feel like, say Doom. (nor would I expect it to really, but that's just a frame of reference)

I've played it on a few different cards ranging from whatever was new at the time from both NV and AMD, up to sometime in the last two years or so.

I played a bit of the game just now. I'm gaming at 3440x1440 at high presets and it's perfectly smooth with 1 GTX 1080. The main issue for me is that the game feels old. The graphics, character animations and the controls all feel dated to me. I'm going to continue playing but so far I'm not blown away by the game.

As you can see from my post above I completely agree with you. I'm also puzzled how a game that really doesn't have amazing graphics is so taxing on system hardware.

here are some PC performance benchmarks from TotalBiscuit and JokerProductions...both are impressed for the most part by the PC port...

Hmm, looks pretty smooth to me, and fairly nice too. I think I'll be pretty happy with it.

This game will run like butter with next gen cards Human Revolution I had some jagged stuff going on but I didn't have 144hz or Gsync back then could of just been the monitor. I think I was running a Nvidia 550ti for Human Revolution.

When I got that card everything looked amazing!!! I wish I kept it for nostalgia.

Would not be shocked if a driver or patch boosts performance significantly...and that's pre-DX12. It's a day 1 release after all.

I'm getting excellent FPS on very high @ 1440p. Going to try Ultra tonight.

Edit - My card hit about 75 degrees. The highest it's been for any game so far.

Nice! Good to hear. I've got a 1070 as well, and only play at 1080, so I think it will play fine, not to mention driver updates, patches, etc. I usually use fairly low AA settings as well. Just enough to have an effect. I don't push them at all. Those videos above look good, and my card is a step up from the 480 and 1060, so should work well.

I have NVidia Surround...5780 x 1200...guess I'm really behind now.......using SLi 980Ti.
I played about an hour last night. Just getting the feel for the settings and all.
I have pretty much everything on "High" and a couple "Ultra" settings......
The game looks good to me, better looking by a small margin than HR in my opinion.

My gameplay was smooth and had a nice pace. I'm using an older driver set, I'm not sure SLi was working??? Afterburner said it was??

My frames were mid 40s to low 50s but the game showed no issues.

HR ran perfectly fine for me on whatever hardware I was using at the time, and I know it wasn't top-end.

I can't speak for everyone but I want new games to push top-end hardware but still allow smooth gameplay at typical resolutions on max settings. I am sick of the days of Crysis where it was barely playable until 2-3 years later and the hardware caught up. If I have to wait that long to play your game, I'll have moved on to something else that actually plays well. Just IMO.

You obviously didn't see the 1080gtx SLI benchmarks i posted.

Hell, Witcher 3 ran twice as fast with every setting ultra and looked far better.

That Hair looks dreadful. Hair is kind of tricky to render realistically though.
That screenshot must have been taken on lower game settings. I'll take a screenshot of the same scene on my PC so you can see the difference. The hair in this game is by no means up to the highest of today's standards, but with the settings turned up it has a lot more detail than this screenshot is showing.

The framerates may be low, but this game runs very smooth. Even the areas that dropped down into the 40s on my PC felt very smooth. Of course you have to worry about microstutter and increased frametimes with SLI, so keep that in mind.

I think id kind of proves that this is achievable. Not everyone codes like they do though. I agree though. Push boundaries via options, but still perform well at typical modern/current settings.

On the plus side, the benchmark does seem to be more intense than the the game. At least early on. The FPS dropouts aren't super noticeable to me, and that usually bothers the hell out of me.
I ended up turning off MSAA and setting everything to Very High except textures and contact hardening shadows, which are at Ultra. That nets me a constant 60 and even the benchmark doesn't drop below 59. It's still a bit odd that new hardware can't max the game out right now (we'll see what the next month brings) but it's good enough for me to proceed as-is.

Sorry I never got my numbers posted last night, I was a bit livid. 4k @ 60htz performance was abysmal for me. 2 OC'd 980Ti's in SLI and I still had to drop to "High" settings with about half the graphics settings turned down, or off altogether, just to get my frames into consistent 30's. I have yet to try Nvidia recommended settings, which I will do tonight, but the amount of optimization this game needs on the Nvidia side is monumental, to say nothing of the mouse acceleration. I shouldn't be surprised coming from a Publisher that employs SP micro transactions, but I was a little surprised to see it coming from Nixxes. Definitely NOT their best showing.

Did you see their recommendations for those having "performance issues?"

-play at 1080p resolution

Really? Did I buy the game for my PS4? No you low rez, blurry smudge face, I bought it for PC so I could enjoy the details. Take this sh*t and shove it up your Enix.

WOW Might be awhile for gaming community to fully adapt 4K for everything.

Agree, Nixxes has done better. Those recommendations on their forum were crap for real.

I've shelved the game for now. I cant get a mix of settings that are both playable and that don't look like total ass.

Maybe I'll go play DX:HR again and hope for a patch that helps.... or just bite the bullet and get some Pascal Titan X's.....

You're just looking for a reason to pull that trigger, lol. You won't get any judgement from me, I'd be all bug-eyed and droolling too.

It's sorta scary that I can almost justify buying $2400 worth of video cards to play a $60 game....

Key word there is "almost".

Granted other games would benefit too. I got these 970's cheap back in the day and they've served me well, but I think their time is almost up. ;)

wait for the GTX 1180...that will most likely be able to max the game out at 1440p ;)

Witcher 3 with Max settings and no AA gives me a smooth 50-65 fps. Doom 2016 gives me consistent 60+ fps at max settings. This game has its graphical moments, but is generally about 2 years behind most other AAA games of its generation. It is more dense, I will give it that, however it doesn't warrant the kind of hardware it claims to demand. This is an optimization issue. AMD was the partner, so Nvidia customers are taking it in the shorts until Nvidia can get familiar with the game engine now the game is released. It's a back and forth game that usually results in us being punished. Just like the Sony and Microsoft exclusivity crap on consoles. In a couple months the playing field should be more level, but for now all we have is high blood pressure and forums to vent on. ;)

I find it strange that the benchmark is slightly different each time you run it. I noticed the two females by the slabs of meat change their actions each time I run it. Once the one on the left threw a round fruit away behind her, next run they were both drinking from flasks, next run the one on the left was reading a tablet.

Is anyone else having surround sound issues with this game? I'm running the optical out on my motherboard to my SteelSeries H Wireless which have always been fantastic for me, but the sound is fucked. I played fine up until the point where I actually engaged enemies and then I realized the sound was totally jacked. Can't really hear gunfire, definitely can't hear anything behind me. What a bummer, first time I've really had an issue like this and I can't find a solution. I mean, there aren't any options in the game and when you're running out the optical on your MB there aren't any options there either.
