Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

You are 100% right on both counts. A couple of people on D3 forums got so offended at the idea that a hellfire amulet should come with a natural socket just because it made the horribly boring and unrewarding grind a hair easier.

I have found that people who take 'offense' at such things are generally the ones already went through the grinding procedure and don't want their 'efforts' to be cheapened down. They want to keep their shineys shiney.

So far RoS has been good to me, though I do agree on certain opinion that T6 is a little too easy at the moment (probably because the gear are so powerful?).

The only major issue I have are respect to the crafting materials. Not the Forgotten souls, but actually the white and blue mats.

This season and last season I have very easily gathered over a stack of Veiled Crystals before I got 300 para, but never more than 500 Recycled Components or 1000 arcane dust at any given time. It seems the game give disproportionately high VC's. Even Odious Goblins drop more VC's than RC's and AD's combined. I think the main issue here is VC and AD drop is too small of a pile relative to VC.

I completely agree, either t6 needs a serious buff or there needs to be a t 7 and t8. One of the main reasons why I've gotten a bit bored with d3 atm is that t 6 is too much of a cakewalk. With the introduction of ancient gear and leg gems t6 has gotten too easy. It's far too easy to solo a four man t6 rift. It's not like it even takes top tier gear anymore.

You're also dead on about the mats

Blizzard wants Greater Rifts to be where you challenge yourself, not the regular Torment difficulties.

Can anyone do a copy paste of this in here for those of us who can't reach the site? :p

I don't have access to the site at work but got this from the diablo subreddit...

Formatted for people at work :)

As Season 2 comes to an end and we prepare to launch Patch 2.2.0, we’re seeing lots of anticipation among players for Season 3. In addition to the 10 new or revamped sets that will be available in the patch, Seasonal players will have all-new Season-exclusive rewards to enjoy.

As with past Seasons, nephalem who test their mettle in Season 3 will have first crack at getting shiny new or revamped Legendary items, gain access to the final parts of the Conqueror’s transmogrification set, and have new Conquests to complete. Without further ado, let’s get rolling!

New Legendary Items

One of the most exciting draws of Season 3 will be the new Legendary items that will remain Season exclusives until the end of the Season. You can see a few of these pictured below, like the Legendary Gems Iceblink and Mutilation Guard, as well as the revamped Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac, and a new recovery-themed Legendary potion coming to the game: Bottomless Potion of Amplification.

In addition, here are the other new or reworked items that will be available first to those playing in Season 3, along with their respective Legendary affixes:

Dead Man's Legacy
Multishot hits enemies who are below 50-60% health twice
Dread Iron
Ground Stomp causes an Avalanche
Nagelring
Summons a Fallen Lunatic to your side every 12 seconds
Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac
Your first hit with each cast of a resource-spending attack reduces the remaining cooldown of one of your skills by 1 second
Blessed of Haull
Justice spawns a Blessed Hammer when it hits an enem
Ranslor's Folly
Energy Twister periodically pulls in enemies within 30 yards
Little Man's Finger
Gargantuan instead summons three smaller Gargantuans, each more powerful than the original
Spirit Guards
Your Spirit generators reduce your damage taken by 30-40% for 3 seconds

New Conquests and Achievements Conquests are also returning for Season 3. While favorites like Sprinter / Speed Racer and Avarice / Avaritia will be returning, we’ve also added a few new ones. For instance, On a Good Day requires you to level six Legendary Gems to level 40, while completing Curses! requires you to kill 300 or more monsters in a Cursed Chest event at level 70 on Torment VI. As with Conquests in past Seasons, you’ll be able to see how well you completed these epic feats compared with other players on the Leaderboards.

And that’s not all! We’ve also completely re-worked previous Seasonal Achievements to focus more on the challenging accomplishments you can achieve during a Season. There are 100 new Seasonal Achievements altogether in normal and Hardcore, giving you plenty of new challenges to take on this Season.

As always, our philosophy when creating Achievements is that they should require time and effort to obtain. The Conquests and Season-exclusive Achievements available in Season 3 reflect this idea. While some may be achieved through normal play, you’ll find that some require creativity and dedication if you want to complete them!

New Cosmetic Rewards

If you diligently rack up new Achievements in Season 3, you’ll soon be rewarded with a Season-exclusive Pennant (unlocked after earning 100 Seasonal Achievement points) and a new Season-exclusive portrait frame (unlocked after earning 400 Seasonal Achievement points). These rewards are in addition to the final pieces of the Conqueror’s transmogrification set appearance which are only available to Seasonal players who level at least one Seasonal hero to level 70 in Season 3.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When does Season 3 start?

A: Season 3 begins April 10 at 6 p.m. PDT in North America, 6 p.m. CEST in Europe and 6 p.m. KST in Asia.

Q: How long will Season 3 last?

A: While we don’t have a specific time frame to share for Season 3, we are continuing to collect feedback from players on Season length, which we’ll be taking into consideration going forward.

Q: When are the Leaderboards being wiped for Season 2?

A: Leaderboards will be cleared once the Season comes to a close. While the leaderboards will be cleared, they will be preserved both in-game and here on our website if you wish to review your Season 2 accomplishments.

Q: When are the non-Seasonal Leaderboards being wiped?

A: Non-Seasonal Leaderboards are tied to what we call “Eras.” We currently anticipate the next wipe to coincide with the transition to Season 3, although this may not be the case for future Seasons.

Q: Will Seasons be coming to console?

A: Some features on console are best designed for that platform, and the same is true for the PC version of the game. A large part of the fun of Seasons is the entire community rerolling heroes together at the same time. The offline and disconnected nature of console does not support this style of play. As a result, we do not currently have plans to implement Seasons on console.

Get Ready To Hit The Ground Running!

We hope you enjoyed this preview of what to expect for Season 3, and we’re looking forward to seeing you bolt out of the gate with the rest of us once the Season begins. While we're on the subject, nephalem, what class will you be leveling when the Season begins, and which of the new or revamped sets coming in Patch 2.2.0 will you use? Are you eager to tackle the new Conquests and Season-only Achievements, or are you simply looking forward to joining your friends and exploring the game from a fresh perspective once more? We’re eager to hear your thoughts below!

Doing grifts alone gets boring. Also if that is the case why is blizzard adding so much content like new gobs and bounties?

because drop rates were garbage at the time and the AH prices were all artificially inflated by people with bots.

The entire problem was bad drop rates and stupid item design. People then used that problem to vilify the auction house.(though it is possible the item design was purposeful to force AH use but that is then a chicken or egg situation)

Even without bots the AH prices for the best items would be out of reach for normal people as it should be.

If the auction house existed today it would be significantly different as fewer people would feel they 'need' it. Really good items would be low cost. The Top items will still be explosively expensive which they should be.

Ancient furnace would be crazy expensive. But getting an average Sunwuko or M6 set would be very cheap.

I'd like the auction house back so I don't have to farm for 20 hours just to try a new build out (that will probably suck).

I wouldn't lie to you for no reason. That is the case, Blizzard wants Greater Rifts to provide the difficulty lacking in regular Torment difficulties to test your characters. However, I do agree with you that doing Greater Rifts alone gets boring, but so does simply doing Bounties or just the Campaign, although, I use to play Campaign in vanilla nonstop and it was fine.

New goblins and bounties just add more variety and something else to do other than Rifts or Greater Rifts. Adding more variety and wanting Greater Rifts to provide the most difficult challenges doesn't mean these two things are mutually exclusive. Blizzard can add more goblins and bounties and still have Greater Rifts to provide the difficulty lacking in regular Torments.

So AMD T-Type and I decided to play some softcore which we haven't played since before RoS release. I think my softcore DH is the luckiest character I've had. In 100 paragon levels I've gotten M6, hexing pants, rorg on my first bounty in T1, kridershot (non-ancient), this calamity, and then a gift about 30 minutes later to use on it...

19 off max damage.

How do you refresh your profile page? Mine is outdated...

Profiles take forever to update now. Kind of annoying.

Really? Reroll that socket off it and get a damage modifier. The current dps damage well, sucks. My non ancient calamity does 2.9k.

Calamity isn't a good weapon in 2.2 anymore unless it is literally the most powerful one you can get.

I have a question. I want to start playing Diablo 3. But I also want the new Reaper of Souls expansion. If I buy them both. Do I need to play the original D3. Or can I install both, and start playing the expansion right away? Are there any requirements?

That's what i did, it's 3.4k. Obviously not BIS but still fun to use in a group or blowing through t6. I haven't crafted a good arcane barb yet. And stutter stepping trying to keep the hexing pants bonus with that much attack speed is annoying, I think it's giving me carpal tunnel.

You'll have to start at the beginning. What i'd do is blow through the story on Normal and then level up doing bounties and rifts (adventure mode), but you have to get through the story at least once to unlock adventure mode. Any character you create after that can go straight to adventure mode.

Aha, ok I guess buying the expansion right now would be a waste, until I complete the main story. So do I buy/install the expansion after I get the adventure mode access completed?

Thanks man...

If you really want to skip the Campaign, just have someone rush you through. Pretty sure you can just go straight to the end bosses and kill them and then start conquering adventure mode.

Can't you do some trick where you bind force move to a num pad key, hold the key down, press num lock, release the key. That way the game thinks you are perma holding down the move key. Then you just shift click to actually attack, otherwise your guy permanently follows your mouse cursor around.

I definitely notice that diablo 3 makes my hand/wrist hurt after a short while, yet i can play LoL all night without any pain. Not sure wtf, but I've had to bind W as an additional move key in D3 to reduce the stress on my right hand.

Kinda weird.

And I thought it was just me getting old....

Meh, I played 12 hours straight, 30 hours in 3ish days and my hand/wrist didn't hurt. Maybe get a different mouse? I use my old MLG Sensei just for Diablo 3, also maybe try using the scroll wheel for force move, much easier.

I've found the type of class / build I'm playing has a big impact on how much wrist pain I end up with. Anything that involves holding RMB down for extended amounts of time is terrible (barb whirlwind, wizard rays, monk tempest rush, strafe demon hunter)

I thought I was getting wrist issues during my days binge-playing Diablo 2 until I figured out that it had nothing to do with the amount of clicking and everything to do with how my mouse was too small for my hand. Because the mouse was too short I would end up scrunching up my fingers while I clicked; once I moved to a longer mouse (Death Adder, then Mamba) my fingers were able to rest naturally and I haven't had pain since.

I also use a Razer Nostromo gamepad instead of my keyboard for the same reasons (much more ergonomic), plus I find it much easier to use.

QFT... I also use a Razer Nostromo pad plus a larger mouse. Can play for long periods of time without any real fatigue issues.

Is the patch deployed yet or do I need to do some surgery to D3? StarCraft II already updated. D3 keeps telling me that I need to update my game.

Maintenance is until 11AM PST...as it always is. So ~1 more hour, unless Blizzard does the usual "we failed, wait 2 more hours please"

Probably a stupid question. Are they altering items already found with the new features or do we need to find them again?

hahahahaha. it IS a stupid question, only because if you have ever played a blizzard game you know they NEVER EVER do anything to make the grind easier, only more difficult.

:D

I haven't looked into it, but if they do push changes to already-found items, that'd be a first.

Put "gives all WotB runes" on pants
Patch
Patch
Move "gives all WotB runes" to bracers
Patch
Barb/IK nerf
Patch
PTR shutdown
2.2 hits live

3 hours later "We weren't happy with the final iteration of Mortick’s Brace on the PTR, so we have disabled it from dropping with the 2.2.0 patch"

I really do wonder where this game would be if blizzard actually ignored forum trolls

Geeeezus! Its 10GB? I just started downloading it.

This is nuts...

No it's not. It should be around 500mb. I think some of it is just rearranging since it's a new file system.

having just played Torchlight II, I have a hankering to play DIII. Does anyone know if or when they plan to release a gold edition?

Well hmm, it sure wasn't 10GB because it already finished. Took like 15min. Wasn't bad. I thought it would take an hour. Weird.

How's the game performance now? Last time there were a couple of rift maps that were basically lagfest.

We weren't happy with the final iteration of Mortick’s Brace on the PTR, so we have disabled it from dropping with the 2.2.0 patch. We may revisit this item in a later patch. Unfortunately, the early version of the patch notes that went out did not reflect this change. However, they have since been updated.

We sincerely apologize for the confusion!

Blizz ninja-removed the bracers that granted Barbs the "Wrath of the Berserker gains the effect of every rune" effect, essentially killing the hopes of every S3 Barb player. They left it in for the entire PTR, didn't listen to the 400 pages of feedback on the forum, and even nerfed the new IK...only to remove the bracers on the very last day without noting it anywhere.

To say there is an uproar on the forums right now would be an understatement haha!
