Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I mean make infernal just as difficult as it was pre-patch or something...after T10, there's the infernal.

For instance, make the infernal game difficulty act like hardcore....when you make an infernal game, you only have one life and you start at A1 onward. When you die, you have to exit the game and when you restart infernal, you start back at A1.

For those of you wanting Inferno, have you played higher greater rifts yet?

Yeah. When I was paragon 500-600+ in previous season I was doing very high grifts. I'm only paragon 310 this season and have done some with a buddy who was doing 40+ grifts. On my paragon 830's softcore I have done really high grifts as well.

We're you running a leap quake build there?

I think he had leap on there as an escape? He was running raekors. Either way, on Teamspeak I saw corrupt angles - fire chains and warned him, he charged in anyway and was pretty much instantly dead.

Well, I've been real patient and the day has finally arrived. Gamestop has RoS on sale for $20!

I hope to be playing with you guys soon!!

there was talk of being able to exchange trial keys to "buy" rift keys of the highest level you have obtained

so youd only have to do a trial if you wanted a higher key, so for example i could go buy lvl 45 keys with my trial keys and skip the stupid trial

What's the best single-target generator for DH? Got a cindercoat so i'm hoping for fire damage.

Well there aren't really that many to choose from if you're looking for a fire generator. Both Grenades - Tinkerer and Hungering Arrow - Serrated Arrow are fire and increase the hatred gained to 6.

I'll Check those out, thanks!

Also Entangling shot/Justice is Served is also fire, this is the one I use as it also induces slow, helps keeping Culling the Weak and Bane of the Trapped active.

Thanks. I'm curious, what other slows do you have on your bar in order to make good use of Culling the Weak?

Also, what's bane of the trapped?

Legendary gem, enemies under control-imparing effects (like "slow") take X% more damage. x = whatever level it you have it ranked, starts at 15% I think.

Another way to slow on DH is to use polar station sentries and drop it on enemies.

Has anyone else been taking advantage of the RoS Birthday Double-XP week?

It ends tomorrow at 2am CST.

In two night I've gotten a new wizard toon to 35 and managed to knock out the first two acts....

Tomorrow I intend to go even harder. See how far I can take it before it's over etc.

I also use Templar with Intimidation and Charge for the extra AoE slow, and Entangling shot/Justice is Served for good measure.

Bane of the trapped goes up 0.3% extra damage per level, starting at 15%. At level 25 you gain a 15 yard aura that slows everything in it by 30%, very useful for DH due to the number of AoE and persistent slows, and near mandatory for melee, since it's trivial for them to slow with the aura.

I haven't took real advantage of the XP boost, because I can level up a toon in a couple of hours without the boost anyway. Have level 25 Gem of ease, add T6 to that you only need to spend a few hours to get a toon to level 70, even while lowering difficulty. I used a non-ancient 2h for it, but it should work even better if you have ancient. I never had to go anything lower than T1 up to level 70.

Cull of the Weak and Bane of the Trapped are both multiplicative, so make sure you use those. Something like Taeguk or Steady Aim is additive.

Well it's gonna be the Tuesday after season 2 ends, so whatever date that is. (April 7 I think)

Right, I think season 2 ends on the 5th, patch on the 7th and season 3 on the 10th or something along those lines.

Awesome information guys, thanks. Sounds like i'm missing out on a TON of damage.

Are you trying to level up the hard way on purpose? Serious question. If not than I'm sure someone can help you get to 70 before tomorrow morning.
It should take less than an hour if someone is helping you.

gem of ease @ lvl 25 in a good 70 weapon will get you from 0-70 in less than an hour playing on your own

Who here is going to play in season 3 (SC) and as what class? Reason I ask is I would really like to get a core group of people to make a run at high 40's grifts to see if we can do it. Every time I try to join a pub or community players disconnect once we get higher than a 45 stone and we have to start over. Every damn time.

I'm probably going to build the new pet WD first and then a multishot DH second.

I saw this question coming a mile away heh.

I haven't touched the game since vanilla release so I figured I'd replay the acts while xp was good....

I'll play serious once the season starts

I'm down. I'll probably be able to play around 30 or so hours the weekend it starts and a few hours during the week after that. All depends on tests/homework and balancing between Diablo and GTA V. I'm not 100% sure which class I'm going for yet, maybe a wizard, but probably a barbarian.

Been playing POE. I just started a3 normal and out in a bit of time doing so. I literally just saw my first unique.

Seems like its absurdly hard to actually find what you're looking for without trading. What I read on their forums seems to back up that suspicion.

Now what I don't get is why the very same people who dragged on how awful the ah was seem to praise poe.

Some players are really into grinding and take offense at anything that make the grind easier. So they like trading better then Auction House because trading is more work and effort then just finding it on Auction House......They can also be known as morons.

Can't say this enough though. POE is a D2 clone where D3 isn't. They are completely different games despite appearing similar on the surface level.

Love PoE's atmosphere, skill tree and more gritty graphics. But the grind was just too much for me, I'm just too casual anymore to A) grind that much, B) go out of the game to figure out what the hell the economy is to know what a fair deal is and C) spend time spamming chat/trading rather than just playing the game.

Bingo. Personally I'd also add a D) inexcusable de-sync from the servers.

That along with everything else really just killed it for me. Not to say I didn't enjoy many hours in the game before I ditched it.

Regarding this upcoming d3 patch and new season... What is exclusive to the season?

People used bots to take control of the Auction House (and thus, the economy), auto-bidding and relisting all day every day. That is very different from being a trading mogul and amassing wealth through actual interaction with other players, and it provides a very different experience (you gotta track down the item vs clicking the 'buy it now' button). The Auction Houses screwed over the average player, because drop rates were garbage at the time and the AH prices were all artificially inflated by people with bots.

That said, PoE's drop rates are atrocious and could certainly benefit from what Blizzard has done with D3. Sure it's actually quite easy to trade for things, but I do want to actually find stuff that I can build characters around. Getting to 60ish (which, unlike D3, is not when the game begins) and not finding a unique is weak as fuck, not to mention disheartening if you've been struggling to upgrade.

Vastly different games though.

D3 is as boring.
POE is wastly superior except one thing which is desync.

I play casually I never had issues finding gear in poe.
I am self found mainly and if I want to find gear I make a magic find build.

I may or may not do Season 3, for real this time around. The timing sucks as most of my classes are complete at the end of this month so all the final projects and/or finals are getting ready to start for me. Then I'll still have 2 classes both with finals and final projects due first week of May. Plus I'm really bummed out if they are truly aiming for a ~2 month season time as I don't think that is really long enough either. ~3-4 months would be perfect in my opinion.

If I do I may focus on Crusader again so I could do zDPS in groups as long as its still a viable build. I really need to start using it so I have a hang of it just not a lot of time right now to play.

Seems like the game is more built around trade and without a system as good as D3's AH. TBH, I prefer the ROS approach where you can actually find things on your own. Feels more rewarding to me. I don't miss the AH. I also don't see how the same people who bashed the AH can praise the loot system in POE.

I could be wrong but uniques and I'm not even talking about rare uniques in poe seem more rare than ancient legs in d3.

Like I said, I could be wrong. I don't have anywhere near the time in on POE that I do in D3. But one unique in the time that I have put in is a little discouraging.

You are 100% right on both counts. A couple of people on D3 forums got so offended at the idea that a hellfire amulet should come with a natural socket just because it made the horribly boring and unrewarding grind a hair easier.

No doubt about that. I like what D3 is. There are a lot of D2 clones and I'm glad that blizz decided to do something different with D3.

GGG did implement quite a few ideas from various games though. Like the map system and the points system and made them their own.
