Battlefield 3 General Discussion Thread

I wouldn't have a problem with this...however, when you get half a dozen of these people on your team, it starts to become very unbalanced when the other team has half a dozen more contributing players.

If people want to be a lone wolf that doesn't help the team they should go play DM.

Hmm... well... don't be a victim here. Tell them they need to contribute. If they don't, you've done your piece and move on. Maybe they don't know better and you'll help someone out. Maybe they just suck at being snipers. Whatever the case, it's not in your realm of controllable variables. Play your best and have some fun. :D This is not behavior specific to BF3 - it happens in every online MP game. People don't play the same way - go figure.

I can't help but scratch my head at the sniper who has 2-1 and 640 points at the end of a round when other people on the team have 15-5 and 4000 points. I wonder which one was a greater asset to the team? Not saying all snipers are like this but it sure seems common.

just because you haven't figured out a way to be useful with a bolt action rifle doesn't mean nobody else has. that's the topic we're discussing...not whether or not some sniper that went 2-1 is useful.

on a related note - last night i was playing Metro rush as recon and i armed and destroyed the first two mcomms while some whiner kept chastising all the 'worthless sniper noobs' on our team (there were 3 of us that i could see). the dipshit was in my squad and kept using my mobile spawns to get behind or near the enemy lines....all the while bitching and moaning about 'snipers'.

My gosh...for a GAME you people don't seem to be having much fun

You know what's not fun? Getting repeatedly wasted at your uncap by some 22-1 dude in the Little Bird at the last section of Davamarand Peak.

Spawn>Die. Spawn>Die. Spawn>Die.

Suddenly I was back on CoD4 Shipment. The guy's reasoning? "I was bored and can't use the helicopter in the tunnel."

Wonderful.

Then do something about the helo in your base. Spawn with a Stinger and start making him uncomfortable. You might not kill him, but at least make it difficult for him to hover around there rather then letting him go completely unchallenged.

And you need to realize that when people are bitching about sniper noobs they aren't talking about all recons, or even the decent snipers. They are talking about the wannabe's, the one's who don't advance, barely get any kills, never lay down mobile spawn points, never spot enemies, never contribute anything to the team. You obviously don't fall into this category.;)

I've got guided shells on the tank and missles on the jet now...if snipers are smart they will use the SOFLAM and paint targets for me...it makes a BIG difference for us, and you'll get points too.

Used the tank and a sniper with soflam last night, we dominated the other teams armor and it gave our team the edge to take all spawns....it works people! use it!

If that sniper was spotting the whole game, he most likely allowed his teammates to get 4k+ scores, I do not believe most snipers do this though.
I still say they need to make it so you have to be prone in order to get anything above 70% accuracy with a sniper rifle.

True, it's just frustrating. I generally do try to acknowledge the issue in chat, but I'd say 90% of the time it's just ignored. Trying to find servers that are well-administrated and aren't full of those types of jackasses is the hard part.

Agreed on all points. And yes, still after what, a few weeks, people STILL rarely spot from what I've seen. It's kind of gotten to the point of hilariously absurd.

i read it the first time, and i stand by my clearly over-dramatic and senselessly aggressive post. (that's a humorous way of me saying "yeah, you're right i see what you're saying now.")

has spotting changed? If it did I like it better, in BC2 you could just spam the key, now after a couple presses in a short amount of time i get a little error like tone

yeah it's not as sensitive as it was in BC2. it seems like people spot much less now too. do you still get the error tone when you spam the Q key? i got it in the beta but in the retail game it just stops spotting (without a tone) like it did in BC2. i liked the tone, it confirmed i was spamming the key too much instead of just missing my target.

Goddammnit why the hell should I spot when you'll just end up stealing my potential kill?!?!?!?1 /Troll

I can't believe how people don't do this. Long distance, I will always hit the Q key before firing a single shot whether or not the target is stationary or fleeing.

Anyone else getting a lot of "Badly formed command" crashes listing driver version as a pop-up box once the game crashes? Only just started happening today/last night for me :(.

Only class I haven't completed is Recon, I used the MAV on Seine Crossing, got 11 surveillance ribbons (5 assists for each one), I had two mortars blowing the shit out of anything I spotted seconds later.

Seriously dude, decaf.
I have to wonder why you have this game-you seem to hate everything about it.
And if I was admining a server where you were puposefully TK'ng, I'd permaban your ass in a heartbeat too.
Agreed. There is no reason to purposefully TK people. Ever. There is a chat feature in BF3 - use it. If that doesn't work, move on and play or find a new server. There are at least 3 or 4 BF3 servers out there. :D

LOL, maybe you guys should hold hands and sing a song. There are soooo many reasons to team kill it isn't even funny. If anyone team kills me first, I go out of my way to hunt them down just out of principle and I always find them. You'd rather ban the #1 player on the server for trying to light a candle under the butt of some newb for wasting/hoarding a key item ALL GAME while the other teams air assets rape your team and cause you to lose instead of getting rid of the newb doing the hoarding?

That just shows how bad of a player you are. Oh and by the way, disappearing limited chat windows that no one pays attention to during the round doesn't exactly make for efficient communication.

Glad you're not a server admin, then. If some idiot kept taking a vehicle and just camping doing nothing with it the entire round, I'd ban his ass.

And TBH the more I play this game the more frustrated I get, so I think it's realistic to become annoyed with it. They need to work on balance issues ASAP.

Good thing I am not the only non-pansy in this thread. ;)

Oh and by the way, just because I point out obvious flaws in the game doesn't mean I don't play/like it. I think this is one of the best games I've ever played lol. :D

If they fix a lot of the issues it will be epic.

got on a squad with 2 of my buddies last night and owned a server - admin even kicked me at some point

playing with friends > playing with strangers by far

I got my first 2 hackers account's banned today :D Reported them to EA with links to battle logs of them clearly dominating the scene, EA replied with an automated email saying they are investigating the accounts, and now the two accounts no longer exist.

-Oh, and from personal observation, the only place I've ever seen hackers is on 64 player servers. Since I spend most of my time on 32p servers, it makes sense that I rarely see them.

ive been jumping on the reddit 64man conquest server and have seen PB kick/ban alot of accounts

i dont really notice from encounters with people myself, i just see the chatlog open up and player X kicked heh

this...play mw3 then bf3 and tell me they are in the same ball park, and we will know said person is insane

Fair enough, I haven't tried a COD since 4, maybe I'm just being overly critical. I just seem to remember BF2 being a bit more slow paced, and even less forgiving gun handling wise, but maybe I'm also just remembering it through the rose-tinted spectacles of nostalgia.

vs. being useful

I'd like to point out that the other night I managed to go 30-9 on Operation Firestorm, on the Russian side, just defending the last 2 flags next to the main Russian spawn, as Recon with the EMR w/ silencer & bipod, & the silenced pistol. Even better, I managed to set a personal record for a kill streak of 17 somehow. It was even a hardcore server. It was mostly just killing the stragglers and sneaky enemy squads that tried to get past the front lines. I love silenced weapons. :D

Recon can be incredibly useful, and I'd probably be more of a detriment to our team by trying to fly a jet or heli, because I'd probably end up 0-10.

I play recon exclusively.

I spend most of my time slinking around stealing capture points and assassinating the enemy snipers by spotting them with the MAV and sneaking up behind them. I typically am within the top 3 players on my team point wise, and I tend to avoid the slug fests entirely. Basically, BF3 is a game that can be played many ways...

Pretty impressive. I suck quite badly at Recon, though I've never really given it much effort.

I often end in the top 3 players as well, at minimum usually top 5, yet my skill level is about 10% of yours. I still haven't figured out what skill level actually means.

I also would like to point out that I tried to get a 400+ Meter head shot and went 0-8 with like 300 points. Save to say I didn't get my 400+ Meter headshot. My team still won by over 50 points so having a few useless snipers on a 64 player map can't hurt that bad.

a well placed sniper can be very useful though. Nothing better than watching the tank driver pop out to repair his tank when BAM face is gone and there's an enemy tank for the taking. Or when you have the RPG gays that hide then pop out too shoot the tanks then hide again sniping those guys helps a ton as well.

But nothing is more useful than good tank and APC drivers though. I'll take 5 bad snipers over 1 bad tank any day.

We don't have enough recons IMO. Mostly wannabe snipers. People really need to learn to tag on sight.

"There! There! Above that rock!"

"Which rock??? For gods sakes man! Spot him!"

I even have the MAV as the helicopters wingman, lighting up targets for his next straffing run. Wasn't aware they were useful to pilots too until it kept getting requested.

I just got the MAV unlocked myself, I'm going to have to give it a shot, especially since you apparently can't get the motion sensor ribbon with the T-UGS for some reason, even though it's a motion sensor and the MAV isn't really?

Question. When does the scope glint appear? Does it not show up until you actually zoom in? Or does it glint even when you're just staying still? If it only glints when scoped, how long does it take to wear off when you unscope?

Not really sure the logic behind that to be honest. MAV's are meant to spot enemies from a safe distance, but gives you points for unnecessarily putting it on top of enemies?

lol......you wrong , ban come few day later not the same day.
Now if you don’t see their name anymore is because they change their name quite often for another one to not be reported. So if PB doesn’t have screen shot of them before the report they will not be ban and since they change name, well you have no idea of their new one, so they are not ban they just change their name.

Of course Origin have a way to retrive the new name but they don't do it.

Honestly I like hacker, nothing more rewarding than kill one.

By the way all the rank 145 disapear from the top list. look like EA make a good cleaning last night.

Just played another round that was like 6v6...eventually 4 of the people on one team left and despite several requests on the chat, not ONE FUCKING PERSON would switch teams. It went on as 2v6 for like 10 minutes before I just quit the goddamn server.

There REALLY needs to be some sort of auto team balance if that happens.

Had something similar happen to me the other night,on a 16v16, but we lost 2 people, then we lost another 2, then we each lost 2 so it was 14v10 and we were getting stomped hard. It was like 3am here too so the spots just weren't getting filled, so it went on for another 15 minutes before I finally quit too. Auto-balance would certainly be nice.

That's nice-you want a cookie?
If you are claiming to be the number one player, play like it, not like a two year old that lost their sippy cup.
If you are so hot $hit, but the other team is dominating with their air assets, go be that god like player you claim to be and take them out.
Mobile anti-air is not the only thing that can take down air assets, but you knew that already.
Again, TKing someone to get their vehicle is bar none the LAMEST thing you can do-it is no different then the jackasses that put mines on the runways or shot their teammates as they were climbing into to planes in BF2, because you deserve the vehicle more than someone else?
TKing someone that PURPOSEFULLY TK'd you first is fair game-anything else is retarded and smacks of toddler behavior.
This game is for fun....for the other players as well-you aren't the only guy on the server.

If I was the admin I will permently ban you for make your on justice on my server.

The problem is admins that allow shit like vehicle camping to occur and don't properly admin their servers. If they did, there wouldn't be a need to TK.
