So, who's thinking about Borderlands?

Apparently some port forwarding is required just to play online:

7777 (TCP/UDP)
28900 (TCP)
27900 (UDP)
28910 (TCP)

Well seems Steam fucked me, for some reason I was seeing same countdown as you guys but now the release date is the 30th for me(Im not in the US).

GFG sirs.

So far this game is full of fail for me. Who designed this interface?

It's out. Now we can neglect responsibilities and livelihood now for the sake of getting to level 50. :-P

1. Preload
2. Wait
3. Restart steam
4. Run
5. Restar steam
6. Run
7. Decrypt
8. Restart steam
9. Run
10. Update Direct X
11. Run
12. Watch 5 minutes of intro movies you can't skip
13. Finally see something that looks like a video game

You probably need to forward certain ports.

I am currently decrypting the game will have some more input when I get home and start playing it.

Just look up! ;)

The FOV was giving me a headache, here are the adjustment instructions:

my documents\games\borderlands\willowgame\config\

open willowinput.ini
add
Bindings=(Name="F10",Command="FOV 90",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
add it amongst the other bindings, change the fov to whatever you want and switch it by the corresponding keys

Am I glad I sold my gaming rig :p Got none of these problems on the PS3 version

Then why are you browsing in the pc section then? lol noob

I was looking for the differences between the console version and the PC out of curiosity, I heard the PC version is supposed be better so I'm checking it out. Not that I have any gripes with the PS3 version

so far so good :) it's (so far) better than I thought it was gonna be. I'll hopefully get more time to play it tonight. my only complaint is lack of AA :(

That driving is wonky.

Jesus, why can't these game developers just take a page out of GTA 4 - the driving was just so damned satisfying. You could somehow feel the weight of the car when you were driving it.

Red Faction Guerilla was nearly ruined because of this. The cars just felt like wooden play toys.

Got to agree with the GTA IV statement...really loved the driving in it. However, it isn't so much the way the cars handle as it is the you have to use the mouse to drive.

Guys, don't do this. This is a Borderlands thread. Now shake hands and get back to work. Jesus, it's the middle of the day and people are posting crap like this when they should be working.

12. Watch 5 minutes of intro movies you can't skip

You can skip them.

Open; Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\Config\WillowEngine.i ni

Change this;
[FullScreenMovie]
StartupMovies=2K_logo
StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
StartupMovies=NVidia
StartupMovies=Loading
SkippableMovies=2K_logo
SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
SkippableMovies=Attract
SkippableMovies=NVidia

To this;
[FullScreenMovie]
;StartupMovies=2K_logo
;StartupMovies=Gearbox_logo
;StartupMovies=NVidia
;StartupMovies=Loading
;SkippableMovies=2K_logo
;SkippableMovies=Gearbox_logo
;SkippableMovies=Attract
;SkippableMovies=NVidia

Basically just put a ; in front of every line.

Did anyone figure out how to get the mercenary weapon pack? And is there a way to skip the annoying intro screens (2k, nVidia, gamespy, etc)?

So far I'm loving the game.

Stores over here in Chicago/Burbank area suck money nuts. 1 Best, 2 Targets, 1 Walmart and 2 Kmarts did not have it and said their systems only say its for the PS3/360.

Guess im a get it via steam and wait for my crappy net to download it.

Thank goodness for your post! As soon as the game started I knew something didn't feel right. All is good now :)

Very strange. BL causes my computer to shut down completely, without warning. I'm running Windows 7 Pro x64 with an e8400, 4 gigs of ram and a 4870 (1 gig) gpu.

Do you have anything overclocked? If you do you may want to turn it down and give it a go see if it still shuts off your system.

Regards

Nothing overclocked. Stock e8400 cpu. I did dial down settings a tad in the ATI control panel. We'll see if it still reboots. I changed AA from 8x to 4x and AAA from "quality" to "performance."

That's a very odd issue; borderlands runs fine on my computer, though the online game browsing interface is extremely unresponsive when it's refreshing or loading the list of games. Couple times I was absolutely sure it was frozen and had crashed, only to find out that it was just loading.

Does that to me to. Game routinely locks up trying to display servers.

Wwitching it to what was posted (90) felt just right, so I didn't do any more experimenting.

What is odd is that the WillowEngine.ini file has this in it:

Code:
[Editor.EditorEngine]
LocalPlayerClassName=Editor.EditorPlayer
bUseSound=True
bSubtitlesEnabled=True
GridEnabled=True
SnapScaleEnabled=True
ScaleGridSize=5
SnapVertices=False
SnapDistance=10.000000
GridSize=(X=16.000000,Y=16.000000,Z=16.000000)
RotGridEnabled=True
RotGridSize=(Pitch=1024,Yaw=1024,Roll=1024)
GameCommandLine=-log
[B]FOVAngle=90.000000[/B]

But when you setup the hotkey to switch the FOV to 90, this is what you get:

Before:
borderlandsorigfov.jpg

After:
borderlands90fov.jpg

Only change between the two screenshots was hitting F10. Ok, back to this fun game :)
