So, who's thinking about Borderlands?

Pirated copies have always released before the retail, what's the big deal with Borderlands?

It's unfortunate that it sounds like the game will be like Diablo with no anti cheat. Soon enough people will hack their stats and items as they please. But there will still be legit folk who enjoy the game.

Now if they don't have ANY sort of measures and people who pirate the game can join the paying customers online, why that makes no sense at all. People could pirate AND hack and totally just fuck with people for shits and giggles. It's already been overdone in L4D and people actually paid for their copies.

I feel cheated as well. However, I'm still hopeful they'll have some kind of fix to stop hacking, duping, cheating, pirating.

nothing short of hosted servers holding online chars will fix this. which means u wouldnt be able to use singleplayer chars with others. which is fine with me since they failed on a basic online cd key. i understand no copy protection on single player games but somthing thats meant to be played with anonomous other should really be protected from cheating

I don't blame Steam as Steam is always behind in release dates. They set their own time. So you can't fault Gearbox for that.

However, IF no patch is out tomorrow with the so called "optimizations" I'm just gonna assume I got fucked by 2k Games to push their console sales.

this is what i think also the game has been in retqiler hands for days the push back was to get pc gamers to jump for the console version. imo

Be careful with phase strike, its currently bugged and the GBX devs have acknowledged it. Hopefully PC has a 0 day patch waiting on it to fix the problem.

who fuckin cares the game is broken

Bro. I bet you're awesomely cool and very nice, but please stop bashing the game already. We all understand how disappointed you are and you have made it pretty clear with your earlier posts.

You're negative posts are not contributing to the thread at all, man.

PC Issues
Though it's easily the best-looking edition of Borderlands, the late-arriving PC edition also falls short, at least in its current form.

At present, voice chat is ridiculously bare bones. You can chat, but that's it. The most basic of features, the ability to turn your microphone off, is missing. There is no way to adjust the booming default volume of another's voice. They can't be muted.

According to Gearbox, that situation should be resolved by an update soon, but there's no word as to exactly when it will arrive and what functionality it will deliver. For a game built around multiplayer, the lack of proper voice chat, or even the ability to disable the microphone in-game and use an external client, represents a ridiculous, glaring and unbelievable oversight.

I can't believe people are complaining because they wasted their money instead of stealing the game. Whats wrong with people?

I bought it and am excited to play tomorrow.

I have a feeling they're going to do something like that where MP characters will be stored online and you have to make a toon specifically for online play.

I realized this was the only fix as well. It seems like a simple fix. Character "data" can't take up all that much harddrive space. Yes, Gearbox will have to buy computers for server farms, but that's a small price to pay to stop hacking.

Toss me a link Lanoix I gotta rage at this first hand.

That's exactly my thought.
Who freaking cares, the game still looks BAMF to me, and I'm more than happy that I paid for it. Me paying for it = I have a LEGIT copy.

All of these negative waves are killing me.

(>T.T)>

And who cares it's released just one day later basically. We're all going to still play the game in the end.

its not the wait its everything the hacking no drm for multiplayer i

Ahh I like that shacknews did that. Its good to see a review that isn't hugging Borderland's nuts the entire way.

The possible easy-mode duping(probably just dropping all your items and pulling your ethernet cable Or dropping your items then killing the game process) is a glaring issue though. I'm sure that could possibly even happen on accident if a person's PC is unstable or pulling that 'nvidia driver crashed and recovered' bull.

And the lack of 2 player splitscreen. Damn. I totally would've setup 2 monitors, and threw one of my nephews or friends a 360 controller.

Don't let the whiners ruin the game. It's going to be well worth the wait, and I am glad to support a good game/developer with my money.

And to the whiners. . . for fuck's sake, Gearbox/2K Games made this game and they can sell it when they want to. The release date has been set at Oct. 26th for quite some time now. It's not like they pulled some last-minute dick move and screwed us all over. If it really bothers you so much that you can't play right this very second, then don't buy the game. But please just shut up and take your petty whining elsewhere.

Yea I can definitely agree to this. I'm preloading it right now and all I can think is how much I want to play it after work tomorrow lol. I don't mind the extra wait so much...I just hope the game lives up to the hype.

GearBox has already said they are going to wait to see what the cheaters do then deal with them

Yea I know that as well, but somehow I don't think they'll follow through without much persuasion.

yea its not like they already got our money

Please, STFU. I think everyone knows your upset, and are probably tired of reading all of your negative posts.

I, on the other hand, am looking forward to playing tomorrow night.

I bought a copy as part of the 4 pack. I am happy that Gearbox decided not to go with DRM, especially if it means pirates can play with non-pirates. I like giving my money to companies that don't punish the consumer just for a futile attempt to stop piracy. The only thing I'm concerned of is that characters being stored client-side means that there's going to be a fuckton of cheating. We need MP-only characters stored server-side or else people are quickly going to have level 99's with maxed out stats edited.

I meant it doesn't go live until midnight on Monday at EST, which is in under 45 minutes.

It seems we both typoed. :D

Nope, the steam version still has 16 hours on the clock. I shoulda bought the store edition. :(

Uh, no shit? I just said that.

Yea, I was trigger happy and didn't read the rest of your post when I replied.

Steam version goes live around 3 pm EST. CD version goes live at midnight on the 26th, in like 18 minutes from the time of this posting.

So boxed copy people, Hows the game? Oh wait...you all are probably PLAYING the game right now...Valve and time do not agree with eachother

Even D2D's version unlocks in 3hours 32 minutes, Beats the hell out of 14 hours

(im not mad that I have to wait 14 hours, I'm mad that every person (including pirates) who have the game are either playing or will be able to play in 3 hours 30 minutes)

According to a poster at the Gearbox Borderlands forum, he's playing right now. I guess store bought copies unlocked at 12 midnight EST today (Monday the 26th).
