Microsoft has just made Windows 7 beta available to the public but you’d better hurry, only the first 2.5 million people will get a copy.

Windows 7 is the next release of the Windows client operating system, built on the secure foundation of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. Performance, reliability, security, and compatibility are core tenets of this release as we collect your feedback to meet our engineering goals of making Windows 7 the best-performing and most stable Windows operating system to date.

I'm fighting through the server too busy messages. I've gotten to the part where I log in :p. Almost to the download link.

installed it this morning and unlike Vista for me, it installed the first time, sans BSOD. the antivirus of my choice is also correctly working on it. No serious errors so far ... but only time will tell. Also, it was installed on an old HP Evo 1.7GHz d500 system, 512MB RAM, onboard video. No aero interface, but at least i can find out if my favorite apps have problems with it.

To bad they didn't follow my suggestion and call it Vista 2 Ultimate!!

You know, the "you’d better hurry, only the first 2.5 million people will get a copy" was actually a tongue in cheek comment but then I hit the download button and the damn servers are swamped...LOL!

The tubes are clogged! Get me a gerbil wrapped in tissues.

Lol...I've logged in and now filled out the little survey. Waiting for the download link now. I've reloaded the page about 100 times with server too busy resquests.

Any list of AV programs (preferably f-r-e-e LOL) that work 100% or nearly 100% on this?

if you have vista 32 can you download win7 64 or you have to use win7 32?

It would NOT be a very good idea to completely replace your current OS with a beta version.

Now if you mean for dual boot, you can have vista32-bit on one partition and Win7 64-bit on another. The next thing is do you have a 64-bit CPU?

you can download a 64bit file on a 32bit machine, you just can't use it.

you then have to find a way to burn it and install it i imagine

I'm having better results getting it to load (very slowly) using IE than I am with FF3

Man...I got all the way to the part where they give me the keys and then it said that there was an error and to check back next business day

Can someone please help me? I am not understand what login information I need to download. Do I need to be a member of something first?

Dammit, I'm trying on 4 different computers, plus virtual machines. I'm reloading tabs on roughly 20 different computers...and nothing!

I think this is the first time I think I've ever seen microsofts servers take a hit. Usually they can give me my full 20mbps cable line...

awww...I got to the product key download page.

Error

The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day.
