What's in your Doom III box?

I'll be playing Doom 3 with this rig:

Intel P4 3.0C @ 3.4Ghz
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
1GB Mushkin PC3500 Black Level II
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro
Western Digital 36GB Raptor
Creative Audigy 2
Klipsch Promedia 5.1
Dell P992 Monitor

I'll be playing Doom III on the rig in my sig. I'll be changing the video card to a X800XT or a BFG 6800 Ultra OC. I have them both ordered, whatever one gets to me frist is the one I keep.

I won't be upgrading until -> PCI-E, DDRII and BTX has been out for a while. Which probally means later next year.
 
AMD 64 3200+ running stock on air cooling right now until I get all my watercooling stuff in the mail next week.

1 Gig Corsair DDR(forgot the name of it...but it's the OCing/enthusiast memory with 2, 3, 2, 5 timings).

Choice of X800XT PE or 6800 Ultra. Haven't yet decided.

Abit KV8 Pro mobo.

Antec 550 or PCPnC psu.

Dell 2001FP. ...bastard better scale well to 1024 x 768 if I can't manage 1280 x 1024.
 
what i have in my sig is what i have to play DIII.

would have been nice to find an X800pro intown when my 9600rpo died on me the otherday. but no such luck, a 9800pro was the best short order card i could get. still could hae done worse. and my computer soudl run DoomIII well enough for me.
 
Hopefully my CPU won't bottleneck me too much...I don't think it will, 3200+ ain't too shabby :) No A64, but w/e

I am finally being forced to give up my most loved PC part ever...my MSI Ti4600. First graphics card that I ever bought with my own money, way back in the n00b days. Now a 9800 Pro from the FS/FT forums with a DD block will be in as soon as the buy completes.

Just my 9800Pro OCed. I am betting it will run pretty good, even with some AA. Carmack/id usually does a very good job with optimizations.
 
A64 3000+ @ 2.2 .... 6800NU @ 365/780 .......... got my audigy hooked up to my JBL creature's .... anddddd.....my measley 512mb of ram, think itll hold me back? :mad:

I'll be playing on the rig in my sig, but I will have the 3.2C in there and be using my waterchiller on it. I'm looking for 4.2Ghz at least.

My only gripe is that I lost Soundstorm when upgrading to A64 but I guess I will need the extra horsepower :p

But hearing that the sound is totally CPU dependent it don´t matter if you have an Audigy 2 right so perhaps it´s a non issue? Just hope it´s encoded in dolby digital so I can use my home theater speakers otherwise I will have to use my zalman 5.1 headphones.
 
I'm going to try it out with my current rig. If video becomes a problem, then I see a 6800GT in my near future.
 
Depending on your preferences not even a 6800 GT will help get you past 1024x768 it looks like ;)

A 9800 PRO should be enough to give you the best visuals ever though.

got my 2.4C @ 3.2 now, when i fix my cooling and all, ill proll push it to 3.4ish

got my 1gb of pc3200 ddr400, so thats ok, was thinkin about adding another gb or so

i have a 9500 @ 9700 speeds, but i think i want a new card. i think thats one of my slowest parts of my machine

deffinalty need a new soundcard cuz this on is shot. its the stock one for my mobo.

new speakers cuz im using harman/kardon, 2 speakers w/o a sub (thats just no good)

and im buying a 36gb SCSI 15kRPM drive for my OS drive (so it will be blazin then)
and then 2 more 250gb drives (cant ever have enough drive space)

your GF tells you what to do ? ... eh ... Relationships blow ... If I had a gf and she attempted to tell me when and how I could do what I love (and loved before I met her), I'd buy her a box of tissues and kick her ass out the door.

Either that or just laugh and continue doing what I please. Compromising is for suckers. Imagine what your GF would say if you told her, you don't have time to get your nails done, or sorry babe, no time to get your hair done, or go shopping, or talk on the phone, or wine, etc.. etc..

Try the effective... <looking at monitor waving hand about in her face BZZZZZZZZZ> works wonders. :D

MixdNuTs? Or how about "WhiPpednuTs". :mad: Come on man you really gotta be kidding me. Do you get permission from her to take a leak too? Hell does she even allow you to hold it yourself? From what I've read, the game makes no use of hardware accelerated sound at all. It is all done by the game engine, and supposedly, with less of a hit than with using hardware acceleration.

EDIT: Sorry, I guess this was already brought up.
