nothing great, waiting to see how SLi, pci-x g, ddr II, etc do in terms of adoption, but will run the game fine
 
Agreed. I've got a pair of Sony MDR-7506 studio monitor phones, and a pair of Mackie HR824 Studio monitors for speakers. Now, granted I won't have speakers behind me, so I won't have the 5.1 effect, but the sound quality from those speakers will not be matched by ANY PC surround setup. I'd rather have the quality, than the quantity. The way I'm set up, I get nice 3D sound from 2 speakers. Headphones are even better. You can totally position a sound using two sources.

I may attempt to unlock my extra 4 pipelines on my video card as well. Just got some AS5, so I won't mind ripping the cooler off now.

Hoping to upgrade my TI4600 to a 6800GT in the next couple weeks. My upgrade isn't entirely related to the release of Doom3 but it's one factor.

i received a p4 3.0, and asus p4c800-e-dlx yesterday , i have some corsair twinx1024-3200xlpro on order and i have a GF6800U on order since early june, this thing should be fast as hell once i get all my parts.

this whole video card thing is a joke though i'm getting really sick and tired of waiting for that thing, my Ti4600 is starting to feel realy obsolete lately
 
Well my Doom III box is in my sig. I'm crossing my fingers hoping that my 9600 Pro will run it at 30 FPS at 1024x768 w/ 4x AF at least. Meanwhile, im saving up for a 6800 GT OC.
 
My rig will hold out fine. Although I will probably upgrade my ram to 1 gb 3200 this wknd. I don't need an nice sound card... I have my DSP-500s... $100 headsets that sound better then any speaker setup I've heard, and I can turn it up at night :)

Right now I'm only running a 1.4 P4, with 384MB RDRAM and a radeon 7500, pretty basic, eh. But my next rig for Doom 3 is going to be really sweet. I'm hoping BTX motherboards start coming out soon, as well.

See my sig....I'm ready baby. I built this computer for DOOM3 and it's about to be used the way it was meant to be played (eheh). I just traded out my last 6800 for my new GT, and now I'm running idle temps @ 57 and staying in low 80's at load overcloced @ 421/1100.

Bring it on, i'm ready to get freaked out! :D My last major purchase before my card was my Klipsch Ultra 5.1. Note these are the speakers to have for this game, i can't wait! :D

my current setup is in my sig but at time of release ill have the following changes:

Its kinda a choice between a 256mb radeon 9800xt used, a msi 128mb 9800pro (oc to xt) new, or possibly the 128meg geforce 6800NU for $250 on buy.com

i dont really want to spend more than $200 tho...

the thing taht worries me is this: according to the gamespot review in order to run teh game at the "Ultra High" settings you need a video card with 512 ram!!!! or it wont even let u set it to Ultra High..

and taht a 3.2ghz A64 system with 1gb pc4000 ram and 6800 GT OC could only play the game perfectly at 1024x768.....

Now im scared. is a 256 meg 9800xt better or a 128 6800?

First turn your memory to 5:4 just so you can test your CPU max speed first. Then just start turning up the FSB. Run Prime95 for 10 minutes and check your temps... if your temps are under 60, up the FSB more... if you hit instability back down the FSB about 5Mhz and run Prime95 for about 2 hours, if you're still good that may be your max CPU speed. now start over (with memory at 1:1) and try to work your way back up to the max CPU speed you may need to loosen timings as you go up. Do the same quick test with Prime95 for 10-20 minutes at each setting. If you cant reach the max CPU speed, then benchmark to see whats faster.... max CPU at 5:4 or max memory at 1:1 with whatever timings.
