For games that support it, I use Eyefinity at 5040x1050.
Though, I'd really like to ditch the eyefinity and get a single 2560x1600 because RTS games suck in Eyefinity.

1680x1050 (desktop), 1280x800 (laptop). I want to get a bigger monitor (CAD, etc), but I'm concerned about the impact on my gaming. Sure, 1920x1200 looks great. However, that also means more frequent replacement of videocards (high-end ones at that) to keep up with games at high settings/framerates.

I'm just not sure if crossing to the 1920 club would be "over the edge," so to speak, where the price-performance equation would start getting nasty (in my opinion).

1920x1200 isn't too bad, where the 'price/performance' ratio ends is really a subjective thing. Spending $1000+ to get 7680x1600 working for some is worth it. For others, the additional expense of upgrading to 1920x1200 wouldn't be worthwhile.
In my opinion, 1920x1200, if you can afford it is a lot better than 1680x1050. It's not an enormous change but it does give you a nice large screen space with crisp images.

I totally agree. I bought my first 28" 1920x1200 diplay a year ago for $300. I just bought two more for $550 ($259 each + s/h) two weeks ago. That's only $850 spent for 5920x1200 (bezel correction..) and I didn't dump all of that cash at once. I can certainly live with that.

1600x900

I have a problem with motion sickness and the bigger the screen is the bigger the chance that I will start feeling like I am going to puke. With my ps3 I can only use that on our 26" lcd hdtv (I can only use that large of a screen because at least with a tv I can sit back a lot farther from it).

Rizen: Exactly. They exist in a few premium monitors, and that's about it. Almost everything in that area is 1920x1080 now, including all the monitors for the masses. I also notice 20" 1680x1050s have been all but abandoned in favour of 1600x900 and 1440x900s, ugh. I liked 20" 1680x1050s as the pixel pitch was really tight and they looked quite good. Despite owning a 3008WFP I paid 13 times as much for (not a typo), I'm chuffed with my second hand SM2032BW, was a great purchase. Shame I lent it to someone and they scratched it
I think it really comes down to 2 things:

1) Cost - 1920x1080 is cheaper to produce, especially with TN panels

2) Marketing - you can stamp 1080P and TRUE HD and other such nonsense all over the box.

Should have been clearer... To those who run high or maximum level of detail in games at 1920x1200: How often do you upgrade your video card, and typically how much has that upgrade cost? Obviously, that depends on more than just monitor resolution--it also depends on when you buy your tech (example: I got a GTX470 for $250, it certainly wasn't priced that way at launch).

Have a tv at 1920x1080 and a monitor at 1920x1080, but only use one or the other depending on whether I am gaming or watching tv.

mostly 1920x1200 - 1920x1080 i have 2 and from time to time they get switched and it doesn't bother me.

1600x1200 CRT here(can do 1792x1344). I wish I could find a better CRT. I would like 2560x1600 @ 75hz+ without breaking the bank.

1920x1200 on a 24", picked it up last year nearly new for a nice price. Glad I did it then, harder to find these days...

1080p projector and a nicely ironed bedsheet...... nah lol just kidding
3 xAsus 24 inch LCD 1280x1024

I use to play on 1920x1080, got myself a 16:10 ratio and a larger screen. FEELS GREAT

It ain't always the size that matters. I mostly play at 1280x800 on my 13" laptop and it still rocks!

Well, I have three matching BenQ E2420HD (1920 x 1080) monitors yet I only game on one cause I can't stand the borders.

Necro'ing whores... Oh yea still 5760x1200 :D
I bumped this because I saw some posts saying multi-monitor wasn't relevant. It's at least as relevant as 2560x1600, so I figured I'd remind people :)

hehe, jmwy.
I link to this often for those that don't understand how popular it has become.

Besides, you have the perfect username for necroing threads.

2560 x 1600 as of beginning of mid-February. Before it was 1920 x 1080 on an Acer 244W and before that it was 2048 x 1536 on a Sony GD520. :D

2560x1600 for a couple of years now, and I love it. Gaming on a 3007wfp-hc is really awesome, and I can only imagine how sweet it'd be to have a nice eyefinity setup with 3 quality thin-bezel panels.

1920x1080...Would like to go to a higher resolution eventually, but don't exactly have the money right now.

1920x1200, glad to see that forms the highest group in this poll. I don't intend to go higher either.

Make sure you setup bezel compensation. The borders shouldn't bother you. Same thing like in your car, there's the joints in between your front windshield and side windows yet you can still see everything. You are truly missing out.

I play at a glorious 2560x1600. Just got the U3011 last month and I love it.
