Hats off to EVGA. The EVGA bucks program probably brought in a lot of new folders and that's great! How could anyone not appreciate that. But the program also got people that were folding anyway for other teams, to "realign their loyalties" for to them for the "rewards" and that pisses people off. There was another thread asking about a merger of teams, and most people were against it, but that is kind of what was created by the bucks program for EVGA. Some people go to different teams once in a while, and that's fine. How folding teams are formed and how they compete have changed. If you care about the competition between teams, then you can't ignore this. If you don't give a rat's ass about the competition, then this shouldn't bother you. The team/individual competition doesn't (and shouldn't) bother Stanford at all. I hope they are more concerned about making good use of the resources we have donated to their research.
edit: I need to add I'd like to give EVGA the benefit of the doubt that I feel they probably did not intend for masses to defect to their team for the "bucks", but was more for getting new people to fold. For that, I give a hearty congrats and welcome to #1.

Why I'm glad we stuck to our ground and took the high road. EVGA (the company) was advertising that give out alone as over 7500$ in gear, just to add it up for all of yall
And EVGA (the company) had every intention of getting people to jump ship and fold with them, it gets them to their coveted advertising rights much quicker

I'd rather be the #1 team that isn't paid for, even if that means we're #2.
The rank doesn't really mean anything to me. We can't compete with that. It was bad enough before when they were handing out $10 off their store for crap; when they throw in $7500 bucks worth of crap *now*, well you know, I get the feeling of "why bother". I'm not saying I'm going to quit folding, I'm just saying - go ahead EVGA. Your rank will always have an asterisk next to it. You are the Barry Bonds of the folding community. Congratulations. Hope it was worth it. Their users can gloat and call me or any of us a whiner/griefer/whatever, I don't give a crap. The truth hurts. I'm not sad to be a part of the #2 team because it still means we didn't resort to your shit to maintain our spot. I'd rather keep my head held high knowing I didn't cow-tow and bend over to a corporation's whim just to earn them a selling point on their product.

I swear half of EVGA is pathetic. I wont go into anything else but I really hope they cut off the EVGA bucks. Then we will get to see how great their community is when it crumbles and falls apart. Then maybe they will understand why the [H]orde will always be number one....

Just so my message is clear, you all should know that my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier last week.
She goes into surgery this Thursday to removed everything! They say stage 2, but I don't know what it means.
So instead of wasting your time and energy putting each other down, go get another job to afford more folding equipment. So your mom won't have to go through what mine is!!
On a side note. I do want to know what Kyle has on his mind!!

Hmmm, actually I haven't seen anything like the whining than I do on the EVGA forum, but I can see why you are pissed - you feel your olive branch was thrown back in your face. I for one think what you said was a fine gesture.
EVGA is two teams in one. A bunch of awesome, helpful, dedicated folders just like [H], plus 30% of rented folder going for the bucks. Which means when [H] points out that obvious conflict of interest, feelings are gunna get hurt.
I actually think EVGA bucks are good for folding, great for stirring competition, and good for the cause... but bad for our dedicated EVGA brothers who want to believe that the win was earned, rather than purchased. IMHO.

I have two ATI cards folding (or rather, failing to). How many EVGA members have ATI stuff folding for them? What happens when an FAH core gets written in OpenCL --which will happen-- and is thus able to take advantage of the huge FP potential of ATI cards?

I see nothing that team 33 should be AT ALL ashamed of.
Twenty folders of 100K PPD or more... That's insane. A ramp up of PPD that delayed the overtake by nearly three months is nothing short of incredible.
Seriously, team 33 just got beat by a team with more people. Hats off to EVGA and a bigger hats off to the [H]ardest motherfolders I've ever witnessed...
I came here multiple times a day just to read all the different threads, and somehow, you all made folding more exciting than before, and I always found folding to be exciting for some reason (wife naps a lot).
So keep on motherfolding, and start working on those Ratbuckz! and subliminal jedi mind tricks and number 1 will be 33 again.
