Well, both make sense and are true. The first one says you should disable it, not that it's mandatory or that TLER will cause trouble. The other says it doesn't matter.
Anyway I'm starting to wonder how errors are being managed by recent WD drives as for the second time on a WD green I formatted a drive with pending sectors so that they would be reallocated, and instead SMART is now clean with no reallocated and no pending sector.
