Venice rumors here please!

i also think the cores will have to go through a pretty tough testing regimine to qualify to be a mobile chip.
not only is the 35w chip just .05v under the normal desktop chip, if amd doesn't change the tdp, it's also about 1/2 the wattage.
and the 25w version is 1.1v. that's a feat right there.
 
Week 32 or above are same cores as FX55/4000+. Which are ClawHammers made on ssoi wafers. You can be sure if you check in CBBID and the revision is 2.6 (same for FX-55's and 4000+). While earlier 3700+ are revision 2.5 (same as my old 3200+, or same as an FX-53 s939).
 
hmm. i suppose that could be about right.
thought that makes me wonder about baron's cpu. i know he has after week 32.
though i know my clawhammer is 2.5

nope, sadly no veince yet for me. i say that it works with a neo2 because of that 3800+ screens thread. the guy who's posting all those awesome oc's is doing it with the k8n neo2.
however, i do hope to get the mobile form of the venice soon, but i'm not sure if everythign will work out. i sure as hell hope so though :D
 
And the wait goes on..

you know.. I've got the gpu, sound card, case, power supply, RAM, water cooling, and have the motherboard picked out just haven't purchased yet (hoping a revision will occur before I get the DFI's latest Ultra, worried about that instability [H] noted when I fold).. even got the LCD (2001fp).. only component that's been keeping this rig from completion for over a month now?

Rumor has it that I just purchased a 3500 venice core chip. Rumor also has it that PcIce will be reviewing this chip for XtremeSystems. Rumor then has it that I will get my chip next Tuesday or Wednesday. :eek: :D

THE SERVER BLADE SUMMIT starts today, and what can we look forward to? Well, the biggest thing is the speed bump from AMD that they will announce before the end of the show. Faster Opterons, oh boy, just what I wanted, faster is always better.

There are a few things that may be announced also, like 4-way blades from HP. Up until now, if you wanted one, you had to go to Angstrom, and from what I hear, they are very good blades indeed. HP seems to want a piece of the high density market, and, with dual core chips, that would mean 416 cores per rack. If they decide not to open the kimono at SBS, it won't be long before they do.

One thing that both AMD and HP are not trying to promote is a new Opteron SKU. It seems there is an E step Opteron 252 with a 68W TDP made just for Carly's old haunts. I wonder how many other special chips like that are floating around. µ

i don't believe there's an nda in place. i've seen too many 'reviews' and sneak peaks for there to be an nda.
and there should be a lot of reports coming in within the next week or so. ;)

DFI-NF4-UltraD, How would I check the mem controller. Just dont know what you mean by that and pc3700eb and some corsair bh5

Hmm ok I hoped Ud have some rev. 2 since the A64 winnie - DFI - Rev.2 combo has proved tricky and therefor Id liketo see if the new Memcontroller does it better.

the screenshot indicates he is running 2GB of memory, this is a bug!
however, he will test with 4 DS 512mb sticks and post results

No one has answer question of double sided DDR Ram x 4. I am most interested in seeing how memory controller on CPU handles double sided ram in all four ram slots.

Wait and see when CPU cores are released.
 
Well a whole new crop of venice threads has popped up since this obviously falls below the attention line drawn after the 2 first threads.... So Bump
 
Ok a price indication at this price runner site in Germany there are two firms advertising the venice core 3800+ here Now if U follow the links it will say Winchester or Win at respective online trader but the price is wrong as well as the fact that there is not enough info on them.

So in Europe expect prices around 570€ (740 USD) for the 3800+
 
$740 for the 3800+?:eek: :( Let's hope it's won't come to that. I've been waiting for that CPU for a while now...

geez if thats the price of the venice, i cant imagine how much more the san diego cores will cost. man 740$ thats like half the budget im on right now for my new rig i am building.

the most i would go for would prob be the 3500+

i mean the x11 multiplier is good enough for me. as long as you have high overhead ram with high fsb capabilities, do you really need an extra multiplier??? just hope the 3500+ venices dont cost over 300$ upon release.

lets just disregard this german site's pricing for a bit. does anybody have any speculation on how much the 3500+ san diego cores will cost and does anybody know if they will be 200mhz behind the venice cores just like the new castles vs clawhammer days? cache vs clockspeed...

Any company can charge what they want. If you guys think that $740 will be what the new 3800+ will sell for at every store, have someone else review your purchases before finalizing them (preferably a sober, computer-saavy person)

Well there are 2 stores in there listin it. But theres no sign of the 3500+ Just the Winnie 3500 listed at 230€ (300 USD) which is still a good 10-15% higher then here. So with that calculation the price in the US would be 0,88*740=650 insted.

And ofcourse theres a premium for beeing first. But the ppl in here who think that there isn't gonna be a price diffrence should take a look around.

We are all waiting like a pack of hungry wolves for this core, every hardware enthusiast are just dieing to get their hands on a 3500+ venice. Now I think that the stores have recognised this and will upp the prices in the beginning with 100% or more. The ones who dont will sell out quickly and the ones who do will sell out slower but sell out at 4-500% of the margin. This is ofcourse based on the assumption that AMD won't manage to Flood the market in on go (which would kill the value of the NC & Win cores that the stores have in stock).
 
well what i'm thinking.. i've seen opteron 252's made back in week 46 or 48. AMD has been making rev E chips for a while now. there should be plenty to go around by now.. and the reason we all have to wait so long is so that there actually is a supply for the initial demand so that more people can buy them, and at a reasonable price.
i think amd is actually being quite smart about the whole thing :D

Well lets hope :) Ure right.

That would also help the retailers finish their stocks off before the Venice is released. But... Well lets just say that i don't like trusting in AMDs filiantropic sides or in Humanities intelligence...

There are just two things that are without limits: The Universe and Human Stupidity - That might have been Einstein who said that and Id like to add human greed on top of it. (Noe that isn't nessecarely a bad thing).

greed indeed. if it wasn't for my love of the money i have now, i'd have a much better rig :p
