The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Official Thread

I felt the same. So I finally bought it and loaded it up tonight. Looking forward to experiencing this after hearing all the hype for years
Just remember ray tracing and Hairworks together will be constant crashing. Just pick one.

Neither cause crashing.

The Witcher 3 is actually a pretty decent stability test, arguably better than Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition, it's likely an unstable GPU overclock, but you would be better off checking event viewer to confirm.

I bought it at launch for $36 on GOG, and later got the bundle with the expansions on Steam, but I have yet to ever play!

Damn I wish I had the opportunity to play this for the first time 😭

You’re a lucky man to have somehow avoided this gem until now!

Soon (tm).

I've avoided spoilers somehow, too.

Ok I get it! :ROFLMAO: :).
Since there are like 36 ending possibilities/variations that are based on your decisions during your gameplay, it isn’t so easy to get a spoiler.

Make sure you get the two expansions. They are both fantastic as well. You can play them separately but at least Hearts of Stone integrates into the main play through quite well. Blood and Wine can be more of a standalone separate story and entire area — IMO, but both are excellent and worth including in your play through.

Blood And Wine is more like a separate game but it has to be played after the main story of the base game, simply because it gives the game and main characters a satisfying conclusion, a closure which does not leave you wanting more as there is simply nothing more left to tell. 👍

IIRC the game recommends level 30'ish to start it anyway with the level of the content in the expansion.

In a lot of ways better than the main game story. Main story was largely unexplained, then chasing people around, then a poorly done exposition dump at the end.

Kaer Morhen definitely feels like it drags on for a long time even though the zone isn't that big, but it gets better past that and I was pretty satisfied with the ending.

I don't recall the scene @1:43 with Ciri and Dandelion in the game, though it's been 10 years. Anyone remember the context? (Can put in spoiler)

for the new DLC- Windows 11 will be required

-Windows 11 will be the minimum required OS for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 following Microsoft's end of support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. Without ongoing security updates, official platform support, and continued GPU driver support, we will no longer test our games on Windows 10

-HDDs will no longer be supported, as SSDs offer faster load times, smoother asset streaming, and improved overall performance

-The game will exclusively run using DirectX 12, which allows us to support ongoing technical improvements and modern hardware more effectively
-Only processors supported on Windows 11 will be supported by us
-Only graphics cards with ongoing active driver support for gaming on Windows 11 will be supported

Not supporting HDD's where the hell does that come from...

I don't run Win10 anymore at home but does required mean it won't even launch on Win10?

With a tinfoil hat on it almost sounds like its trying to scare people into upgrades vs actually saying it won't run on older stuff.

You can probably still launch it on Windows 10, they're just not testing the updates on it anymore. SSD started becoming a requirement in games at least 3 years ago. I know there are supply issues now, but they were cheap for a long time. Not as cheap as a HDD, but still affordable. I wouldn't dream of running games on a HDD anymore. I start to get worried something is wrong if a loading screen takes more than 3 seconds these days.

Right I had to work on my mom old desktop with a hdd not to long ago and you really take for granted how much faster ssds are. I forgot the days of turning on the pc and waiting a soild minute+ to get to windows and be able to use it

Running games on HDD's in 2026 is some sort of weird self punishment.
But again, you can always vote with your vallet.

It proabaly work with windows 10. It is just not support it by MS and they don't want to waste money and time on it. Also who the fuck still uses spinner outside of a NAS or just mass storage in their PC these days? It proabaly been 15 years since I used a HDD for windows, apps or games.

Sooo we're talking about this game no longer officially supporting hdd's instead of the fact that we're getting another DLC for an 11 year old masterpiece? What did I miss?
God damn it has been 11 years since this game came out. I need to do another playthrough before they release it.

That's what I'm thinking. I've played the hell out of this game but all prior to the RT update in 2022. Can definitely justify another for additional content in 2027 lol.

I got laid off right before christmas of 2015, for a month, I was Geralt of Rivia. Some of the most fun shit ever. I was playing on a 1080p plasma TV and a Radeon Fury Nitro, intel 2500k. One of the most fun gaming experience I ever had, now the formula has been beaten to death.
