Yesterday, me and Dude were chatting about enabling Nether for SMP...
"1.6 officially has a release date of “not soon”. The main features will be the maps, bug fixes, and now a functioning Nether in multiplayer."

That's what we get for doubting them.

I send it. I did it on gmail (i'm guessing you don't have the geemails domain :D).

Will the fully functional nether affect the nether as it is now?

Ive got some footage of the aftermath and standing around waiting too if you want (inclding the wool bet. Which I still am owed :p)

how is the nether saved in single player? separate world folder or the same one?

if same, then yes, we'll lose our nether and it will spawn a new one.

if different, then we can probably rename a folder and be just fine.

there are new plugins on the server, I need to update the OP but I'm waiting for screen shots to help explain new things. when I get these I'll do it.

I've deleted the white list on the OP because well, I think it was making the post too long.

From wiki:
"The nether is saved in the same way normal worlds are, but instead of mixing the world files inside the save folder, the files for Nether are stored in appdata/.Minecraft/Saves/Worldname/DIM-1, whereas normal world files in %appdata%/.Minecraft/Saves/Worldname. Note that DIM-1 does not contain its own level.dat, as the same level.dat in the upper folder is used for both overworld and Nether."

Well then when 1.6 hits and we are in that void until bukkit updates, I suggest u start packing.

Sounds like it should be easy to convert. But does the current nether doesn't use the 1/8th travel rule?

Just trying to troubleshoot my Minecraft problems here. I would constantly get the black screen of death, especially with the 1.5 version of Minecraft. It was recommended if using a 64bit OS, to get the 64bit version of Java.

For those of you who use a 64bit OS & the 64bit version of Java, which version are you using?

I tried to install the 64bit version of Java, after removing versions already installed. Minecraft will not get past the logo screen, even after removing the .minecraft folder. It gives me the 'Java has encountered an error' and I have to close it. Even if I only install the latest 32bit version by itself (v6 update 25) it gives me the same problem. I had to re-download the last 32bit version which worked for me (v6 update 24.) I also tried the x64 version of v6.24 and it still didn't work. Do I need to try for an even older version of x64 Java?

I'm using 64bit java, crashes like crazy, no matter what version.

Hey wow i thought it was me. I get that sometimes where i play and my screen goes black, then comes back on...

Im running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. My java says Java 6 Standard Edition. Version 6, Update 23, build 1.6.0_23-b05

Not sure if its 64 or 32 though

Apparently it's a huge problem that a lot of people experience and post about on the MC forums, but there hasn't even been so much as an acknowledgement by Notch.

In the Program list under the Control Panel, it will say (64-bit) at the end. If not, it's the regular 32-bit version.

Unacceptible... so im guessing you host it at home ehh, whats yer internet connection there.

I used to have the black screen problem but it hasn't happen to me in a long time (>1 month). I am using Java 6 Update 24 (64-bit).

I'm not sure what else could be the cause. Are you guys on Win7 SP1?

I use Java 7 x64 beta on Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64. Great performance and no crashes.

have any of you guys successfully created some kind of automated minecart stationing with the new powered tracks and what not?

I am trying to build a subway with carts that just keep going but if you are in one it will stop at a station and when you get out it will start moving on its own again. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this.

I also have never worked with switches, floor plates, and red stone before..

I know! that pissed me off SO MUCH! OMG I was like NO YOU SOB!LMFSKDFAHALFJKHASGKLH

:(

the batter finally gave out on it... the load of the server puts it at 1 hour run time...

but apparently a transformer blew up, and I can't remote turn ON the hardware :(

maybe I should add one of those redundant PSUs to the upgrade list and have each one set on it's own battery... lol...

48%? STUPID

Sorry, we use mine cart mania which takes care of all that kind of stuff, I haven't even seen any of the new mine cart stuff yet lol

how does one get minecart mania and how do you make it work with a server?

Be aware that you can only affect blocks about 50 away from the nearest person. If you send a minecart off ahead of you. Wait a bit and run after it, it will have stopped somewhere down the track, even if it was on powered rails all the way (it's annoying!)

The best kind of subway system is one with individual lanes going in both directions

Theres a guide on redstone circuits here (skip ahead to the logic gate parts).

The new rails are the powered rails that (when powered by redstone) propell a cart 64 blocks(when occupied, else 8 blocks), and stop it when unpowered. And the detector rails, that are like a button set off when a cart crosses it.

The Office of Mob Affairs is now up. Can't miss it. Go to Corsair Lake and look for the giant building that looks like a Creeper :) still need a few more pieces of wool as i ran out, need like 3 more is all for the last eye.

Ugh server crashed again? Can we get a faster server??? What are chances? I have a few fast servers sitting around at my office, but they are 1U rack mount systems... i see this things running on an atom processor, not a lot of processing power if ya ask me.

If you don't like it you can fucking leave... you wanna go pay for a server? run your own? go right ahead, no one will stop you.

Crashed again? It only went out last time because there was a power outage. Not like G1 could control that.

The hardware the server is running has been more than adequate. It's really held up well I'd say.

The rain ruined a pretty good shot. But next time people join, warp to spawn and look to the left :)

The only thing I don't like about that pack is the look of smooth stone. Otherwise I do like it.

I found my first apple ever today on the hardcraft server, woo! In other news, who goes around and chops one or two blocks out of the bottom of a tree trunk and just leaves the rest?

I started some new construction and kinda gave up on my inter-connected under-ground glass-domed rooms. I wanted something a bit more visible. I'm in ICTerify's neck of the woods, there's a rail that runs right by where I'm building but I don't know where it goes. (Looks like it goes towards Corsair Lake)

How often is that map in the first post updated?
