Does anybody have a boat load of glass? I need to enclose my cactus farm in glass, because the cacti are dropping onto the ground and not the water because its so high up... i wanna enclose it in glass so it has no choice but to fall straight down... sept im low on sand. I have a few containers of cobblestone if needed though, from all my mining.

For some odd reason, I am totally unable to connect to the server, by the looks of it, it sounds like everyone else can!

That's because the server is still at version 1.4_01 I believe!

My Off Topic reply: There's a small town about 10 miles away from where I live....and everyone there doesn't say "boat load"....they say "butt load". I get a kick out of it whenever someone says this. :D

I've heard a lot of people say "butt load", all over the place... :confused:

I don't think it's all that uncommon.
 
Hello guys, I just wanted to ask what is this game about exactly? Do I understand it correctly that you have to mine/gather/barter materials and use them to build things? Are you getting any levels/points for that? Can you for example build a ship and set sail on it? How big is the world? Or can you build a plane and fly it? And it does not have any storyline, right?

Minecraft is like playing with legos, but for adults. You mine / harvest blocks and build stuff with them. You can trade with other players, but without plugins, it's not built into the game. On Hardcraft a lot of us will help each other out with materials and also build together.

The latest update adds achievements and stats to the game, but there is no "goal" or end-game. No leveling system, or anything like that. There are plugins that do have similar affects, but again, not official.

You can build a ship, but you can't sail it. Well... not without plugins. :) I don't know if flying is possible with plugins or not.

And yes, no storyline!
 
I'd really like to take a look at what is happening on the server. If you wouldn't mind adding "qwidmeyer" to the white-list that would be awesome.

I'm currently running a server on which two of my friends and I play. I have maybe 20 hours in the game and I just cant put it down. This game is much worse than Civ4's "next turn" problem, but in a good way :)

The legality though. I have the bin folder zipped in a file so I could restore my own copy of the older version on another computer....but would I get in trouble if I sent it out? I think that's why you don't see everyone sending out copies....
 
If you have already updated to 1.5. You'll need to downgrade. To do this, replace the minecraft.jar in your .minecraft/bin folder with this one

Default locations for .minecraft directory:
Windows 7: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
Linux: ~/.minecraft
OSX: \Users\USERNAME\Library\Application Support\minecraft\

Well considering you need an active login account, I don't think there's any issue with legality, seeing as if you don't have an account (i.e. you haven't paid for it) you'd never be able to play without one anyway.

Its the copyrighted files that are the issue. There are quite a few posts about it on a minecraft forum.

I doubt it means much to the developer though.
 
WTF... i was in the memorial garden and a greeper spawned in front of me... how can this be. its really lit. ive seen them spawn in my own house too, somethings strange here:

Its all about light levels, also creapers are mobs that can spawn, and do spawn during the daytime (iirc)
 
Welp I got my mob killer built tonight. With the help of zexx he helped me sort out my mob spawner in the sky and make it drop them. I then put cacti below to kill them while I built the water channels and the grinder. Its right next to my base so i just open a gate and im inside my collection area, safe and sound. I can actually stay afk here if i wanted to, its secure (as long as no skeletons get inside my perimeter somehow to shoot me, but ive yet to see a single skeleton inside my fenced in yard)... works well... its only 1 level right now, but i'll add a few more levels (which is what the grinders main purpose will be)

right now they drop and they die 99% of the time from the fall. spiders occasionaly don't die... once the spawning areas get built closer to ground, i'll need that lava to kill them... but so far im pretty protected and it works nicely... took a few hours to build

The lazy susan of doom... the concrete pillars prevent any mobs from walking on top of the glass and jumping over into my fenced in yard

No real need to put the fall in glass... because as i build up the levels the holes will be 3 blocks apart, so you wouldnt see the fall anyway
 
G1, do you think you'll be adding Nether back in when Bukkit is updated?
 
Adam, keep in mind with your ladder that once the server is updated to 1.5 you'll need to make it a solid ladder.

Yep. With grass down, you can have animals and creepers spawn in broad daylight. The game doesn't even care that it's indoors.
 
I know bout the ladders, yer 2nd guy to tell me, lol. But i was realllllly low on wood and i had JUST ENOUGH to get to the top when i made that. I'll go in tonight maybe and fill in the ladders

actually im better off waiting so that i get 2 ladders for the price of one, rather then only get one right now

You can, but we don't. We play friendly and help each other (although i havnt helped anybody much still building up my place)

Well, the previous plugin was working pretty well except that time when a bunch of us began going through the portal at the same time. Any chance of reopening Nether before v1.5 (or higher)? I'm quite bored without it.
 
I'm fairly new to minecraft. Just wondering if you guys are running 1.5 and when bukkit is going to update. Also i wouldnt mind jumping on your server to look around. Anyway I hope you all are enjoying cake. ;)
 
That last plugin wasn't updatedfor 1.4 that's when all that happens. There are a few others that have mine cart support also. Ill see if I cab find a simple one... they always have way more features then needed
