Display: the graphics-settings slider has only a minor impact on performance at this time.
We are currently optimizing Guild Wars 2, making ongoing improvements to the game’s frame rate. Presently, the game is CPU-bound on most high-end systems, so lowering graphics settings or upgrading your video card may not have a large impact on performance.
On older or lower-end machines, it is recommended that you try disabling reflections to improve frame rate.
My friend and I wanted to go to Sorrow's Furnace but he is saying it's already super crowded and even though I tried to get on during lunch break, I couldn't. Might have to start looking at other servers![]()
Servers are pooping out right now. I think i'll wait until later.
is there an in game command for checking FPS?
Free and Unrestricted World Transfers
In order to test transfers and world balance, from Friday, April 27 at 15:00 PDT to Saturday, April 28 at 18:00 PDT, players will have free and unrestricted World transfers.
anyone else keep getting disconnected? servers seem to be having a hard time
anyone else having a hard time getting use to the combat? Not use to being able to just point and click on the person I am attacking
point and click doesn't seem to do anything. You have a basic auto attack but that does it's thing weather you click or not. I play this the same way as any other MMO except you have to run around more. I have everything keybound.
Yeah they definitely have a lot of optimization to do. I have SLI off, getting about 25 fps at max settings, dips down to like 11-12 when there's a bunch of people around.
GTX 680 here, i7 920 o/c to 4.0ghz. ~20-40FPS, choppy, annoying, not the reason I bought a 680. Wonder how much optimization they can get in before beta ends.
Arenanet states in its known issues FAQ that the game is CPU limited right now. Video card doesn't make much difference. I doubt there will be any optimization before the end of the weekend. I have a 7970 with a i5-2500k running at 2560x1600 with the settings maxed out and although it's not butter smooth, it's ok. Things are improving because it's much better today than it was several weeks ago so they are making progress.

Currently, adjusting the core clock speed of the GPU or CPU typically results in lower performance. It is advised that you leave core clock speeds at factory defaults.
AMD CrossFire™ and NVIDIA® SLI™ are not currently supported.
I am not use to that... Do you use the arrows to walk or WASD?
It seems impossible to use 1-5 6-0, and F1-F4 as skills while useing WASD to move and Q and E to dodge and TAB to target....
Would love some setup advice...
There is something really wrong with the client. It keeps changing the GW2.exe priority to low even when I have priority save on to normal with the program Prio. With the program running low it screws with my USB and everything, I get stuttering sound and my controls stop responding sometimes. Not sure why on Earth they would program this client to set force low priority. My CPU is doing virtually nothing while playing and I think that may have something to do with the extremely low FPS and low GPU utilization.
Just a few thoughts after a few hours in-game:
I like the art style but even on maximum the graphics aren't as detailed and don't "pop" like I thought they would. They are decent but nothing great.
5 GHz 3960X and 4 GTX 680's nearly idling while playing the game (with very low FPS) = ya ok. Low GW2.exe priority keeps killing my USB DAC sound and Logitech G-13.
They said that the graphics settings aren't maxed in beta.
That said, performance is generally terrible. It doesn't matter how good of a setup you have, it's bad. My FPS doesn't change whether I'm at 640x480 or 5760x1080, and it's low.
