The Official Guild Wars 2 thread

12-6 PST. That's 3-8 EST. A lot of people on the east coast will log in after work I think. Plus in the EU its like 8 or 9 PM start time so I think they will have no problem getting decent numbers.

Shit yeah, sorry was not even thinking about the time-zones..will give most time to get on for a few hours after a 9 to 5 job.

I... disagree. I would think the shorter amount of time, the more people would be trying to get in, compared to a 24 hour stress test, for example. "Oh, I have all day, I'll just log in later" compared to "there's only a few hours I get to play, I have to log in now!" Can you imagine the level of stress on the servers that would occur with only a one or two-hour test?

It should be about testing the stress of varying amounts of players, not just attempting to crash the server.

Forums and server down all day? Guess this isn't happening or already happened?

I can't seem to load the forums and when I try to login to the game I keep getting the "No event happening" message. Maybe the stress test failed early lol.

@silent-circuit, PM sent

Well the stress test was fun. That's all I'm going to say. I didn't sign an NDA or get an invite but was able to play. :)

Yeah, not gonna say anything about the stress test, even though by saying just that bit is actually breaking the NDA, but since the stress test is now common knowledge, I can comfortably confirm dara's sentiments

Stay tuned though ;)

this game is worth it, just know that. don't expect another "like Wow but...." game.

GUI: It's clean without being spartan, it's simple without being dumb, it's complex without being complicated.

Map and transitions: This is the way a world map is supposed to be. Transition between playing and looking at map is pretty slick. There's nothing barebones about it (hey Bioware, this is the way a MMO map should look and feel like in 2012).

Load times: "Supposedly" even on my shitty system the load times "would" barely be there. And this is "supposedly" with maxed out settings or even with low settings. So it's pretty well optimized for loading the game up ;)

World: it feels as if it's breathing. Even though there are static things in the world, it doesn't feel static at all. When you pass near NPC's that give out missions, instead of it just setting there, it acts like a carnival barker to get your attention complete with voice acting: "Hey you, get over here I got something for ya!" complete with speech bubbles (I never really thought I would miss them until playing SWTOR, but now I realized that it's needed a lot of times).

There are quite a few things I would comment on but will leave it for now. My only issue that I have seen on my end is that its sometimes hard to distinguish your character from others in a giant melee. But I think that has more to do with not being familiar with everything yet nor actually paying close enough attention to what your character looks like in the beginning because attention to is being paid elsewhere since it's a new experience. Also, I need a new cpu :(. FPS was about the same for me no matter what settings I used , but unlike some other games with serious dips all over, no matter what was happening, my fps stayed constant, if low (20-25 fps roughly). When more people came on screen and/or NPC's, fps never dipped, so that's a good thing. SWTOR I could be doing 70 fps in one area, then go to Ilum with 10+ people or a warzone, my fps dips drastically and stutters with fights between players. But then again this is a non-optimized build most likely, so my fps would probably be better if it was the finalized release.but still, even then my cpu still sucks lol.

Does anyone know where I can link the cd key to my account? Is it already available? I've been busy since I bought it off gamefly to use the key.

something

Hey, you asked :p

Lets just say, if I didn't like it, why would I give a crap about breaking the NDA? ;)

Now let me see if I can scrounge up $50 somewhere.....pssst, anyone wanna buy a SWTOR account :D:D

spill the beans!

Guild Wars has the tiny fps counter in the lower right corner - is there an in-game fps counter as well? If so, how's it activated?

Thanks, now I gotta email support to get my GW 1 account back, god I hate NCSoft account management.

I tried that. My Guild Wars 1 account was stolen sometime after I quit playing and I did not realize it. I was able to answer every question associated with the account, but they still refused to return it unless I could find the original CD key on the physical disk, which I did not have anymore. Bummer.

Damn, that sucks. I was able to dig out my CD with the cd key, I also have my emails from NCSoft during 2005 when I first got the game. I wonder if that'll be enough proof. I don't remember my security question though.

I was in the same boat. As long as you have the physical CD key you are set. Just scan the physical CD key and attach it when you contact them.

Nah I use FRAPS all of the time when I run new games or when I try to see the differences with new drivers/tweaks etc.

I got my account hacked after I stopped playing the original GW, but never bothered to get it back. Any idea if I would be able to get it back with the original CD key if other expansions were added to that account by whoever has control of it now?

CPU isn't the problem. It's game optimization.

The physical key says it is proof of ownership. Just contact them and be honest about it and give them as much information as possible. Of course the more information you give them the better.

What they'll do is lock the account an email the other person asking for proof of ownership.

Your ownership dates back farther, which is a plus. Just make sure to put as much info as you can. When you created account, people on your friends list, where was the last place you logged off, the armor you had, etc.

My account was hacked. They cleaned it out and changed everything. Almost a year later I was able to recover it when I heard about HoM for GW2, but they just cleaned it and did not use it for anything else.

How long did it take for them to respond to you?

physical disk won't due much. You need the CD key

its a small black piece of paper with you cd key on it.

do*

Just grabbed my DD copy off of GMG. Can't wait for this game to come out. Hopefully its the first new MMO that's actually worth a shit.

Just pre-ordered my copy. I hope my 2500k/4870x2 can handle this game turned up.

Any1 got any idea when the beta will be released for preorders?

Saw around the interwebs that it could be end of the month and is their any timetable for release date?
