The Official Borderlands 2 Thread

Also...I guess it's not possible to kill Terramorphous in PT1? I went there and it spawned as a level 52 and I couldn't even do one shred of damage to it before it knocked me clear off the ledge.

if you look back the way you came there is a barred path that eventually lead out. there is a ledge there where you can park. it will protect you for a couple of passes before he kills you. and yeah, I tried everything. The max bee shield you can get in PT1 is about 5k. a smg will probably work better than a shotgun. it still will not dent his health. Keep in mind that from level 30 to 50 everything you have will increase 10x and then it can be hard. :)

is it just me or is it tough to find a good assault rifle in this game? i'm seeing almost exclusively torque guns out there, which are fantastic in certain situations but i'm hardly ever finding decent non-torque weaponry.

also, are there any elemental revolvers? so far as i can remember i'm only seeing Jacobs revolvers, and they don't really fit my siren's style of play

Yeah, it's really hard to find a good AR. I found a Jakobs one around level 27 or so that does like 1366 damage and shoots those explosive bouncing rounds. Worth like $8k when even purples of that level were only worth around $3k or so, and it's only a green. Clearly a superior random dice roll on that one.

Level 36 or so now and still haven't found anything that does even remotely close to that damage in an AR. Found a revolver that does almost 1300 but that's about it.

I've been really trying to go AR-based Commando, but honestly it feels like ARs are extremely underpowered. They are outmatched by repeaters/revolvers in RoF, outmatched by damage in just about everything except SMGs, and outmatched in accuracy by...well, the same, just about everything other than SMGs and really crap pistols.

And the problem with Torgue ARs is that they all take like 3-4 rounds per shot with that gyrojet crap.

As for elemental revolvers...no, don't think so. AFAIK only Jakobs makes revolvers and there are no elemental Jakobs weapons.

Honestly IMO the only good ARs are the Shredder ones.

Is there a problem with Zer0's main ability and guns?

When in "stealth", there should be 200% increased gun damage from your next shot, and I've noticed that it's absolutely never kicking-in, often at all.

I keep a close eye on the numbers, but upon firing a shot when still invisible, there's no dmg increase, though it seems there might be for melee.

Anyone else noticed a problem with this?

I'm also finding his skill almost rather pointless, given that only 200% of gun damage, for one shot, even 15 seconds, just seems... pointless...

I think I saw on the GBX forum that the DLC might have added some. Never saw one in the base game.

Yes, this one was dropped by Scarlett. In another run, the dropped gun did half damage, 1 bullet used but also half mag. It´s not my primary gun, but I kept it.

I will be tweeting Randy Pitchford - why on earth are they not trying to make money selling golden keys? I would easily spend a few dollars on a 10-20 pack. Set it up through Steam, what is the problem?

Did everyone else have their config files reset with the latest patch?

Itching for some increased level cap DLC :) I heard a mention of the next DLC, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, here.

I found a rocket launcher at level 38 that does 96k damage. Is it normal? :)
Before that I saw max 20k and suddenly 5 times more powerful. I was like - WTF?

It was basically 1 hit kill for any mobs till level 40.

No, pretty lucky. It is just the cost of using rocket launchers, big turn off. Best I have seen so far is 350K damage.

Zer0's skill doesn't give 200% extra weapon damage, it gives UP TO 200% extra weapon damage. The longer you stay invisible the bigger the damage bonus when you attack.

Yes, I'm aware of that, I can read... what I'm saying, is it doesn't seem to do much of anything what-so-ever and seems almost a pointless "special" skill due to it's mechanics.

Waiting until the last second to get off a shot wastes a lot of time, and doesn't always yield any impressive results, and sometimes seems it almost doesn't kick-in at all.

I play BL2 DLC Scarlet with PhysX on Medium.
I cant get rid of impression that Medium PhysX in DLC is much much less visible than medium PhysX in the main game.

Anyone have the same impression?

Main game had many flags, particles etc all around on medium. DLC has few flags, very few particles etc. and DLC looks much more empty then main game in that respect.

Unfortunately good AR's are non-existant in this game. I would love if they have M-76 Revenant variant in Borderlands 2. For those who don't know what the M-76 Revenant is. Its a really nice AR in Mass Effect that just mows down enemies at close range and sounds awesome while firing.

For an example of this check out this video

If I'm not mistaken B2 uses the unreal engine which Mass Effect 3 also uses so technically it would be possible.

I have pretty good AR with 190! magazine size, fast fire rate and pretty powerfull as well. Though, the sound of it is disappointing. I think I got it in one of the sidequests on Scarlett DLC.

Precisely......

I had one good AR that I picked up in the DLC Pirate thing, it spits out a burst of bullets.....but there hasn't been one good one anywhere else, and I'm on my 2nd go around.

I beat the DLC and the big treasure pay-off was full of pistols and maybe one sniper and one shotty.:(

Zer0's ability has worked really well for me. I play the character as the ninja assassin he is meant to be. So as I attack enemies I combine as much melee as I can with gunplay, and usually I melee to the head when I use Decepti0n (Up to 650% melee damage). Most of the time my tactics involve using Decepti0n at the start of a fight, sneaking behind the biggest enemy and one shotting them with melee to the back of the head. If that doesn't finish them off I unload into their back/head. Then I proceed with short to mid-range gunplay until the Decepti0n timer is up again, at which point I use it to dump aggro and find the biggest baddie around and repeat the cycle. This works especially well in Co-Operative play and in general with a gun that adds to melee damage.

He's my favorite character so far.

Good ARs have been rather rare for me as well. I think there were about 2 or 3 5 level spans where I had an AR that was good enough to take the place of an SMG or pistol. I lucked up with a purple Vladof with my last warrior kill - 8600dmg, 53 rnd magazine and slag. It's really handy for spraying down baddies with slag so my turrets can murder them.

Now that I think about it, I did get a few purple Dahl ARs that looks really awesome until I shot them and realized they fired a burst that was spread out horizontally. What teh hell use is that?

Horizontally? Sounds like an automatic shotgun :)

I've only found a few ARs that were useful, and they often got quickly replaced by better SMGs which seem to have more well rounded stats. The only ARs that seem good at first glance due to high damage is usually the grenade launcher ones.

I have a 3x12000 AR @ 83% accuracy, just found a 2x8000 @ 87%. I use both with a bee shield. The latter overall is much better for ammo, so it is my primary weapon. The SMGs I use for bosses and in the case of the baby maker, when I get dropped. Anyone does not have one, it is by far one of the most useful weapons. In the clan wars attacking the irish guy allows you to farm him for a masher pistol, so will have to try that. Otherwise I find the teapot gun to be awesome. Great zoom and accuracy, corrosion much greater than the stated %. For rocket launchers, I have a 3x80000 with a 6 round magazine. Snipers, I have lost interest in. I have a 25k gun, had found a weaker one with a 40 round magazine. That would have been great with the zer0 multipliers, but...

edit: shotgun, just found an explosive 8000x14. insane damage, but it chews through ammo

I've decided there needs to be a hall of fame for weapons. I've finally, at level 31, retired a shotgun that was level 18 requirement. it does 181x18 damage, and its a torque. if i hadn't found something better, it would still be a viable gun. i wish i could dip it in gold and build a monument for it in sanctuary.

and yeah i've found a 700 damage sputtering spitter, torque as usual, but it would be nice to find more dahl elemental rifles. they're more of what i think of when i think of assault rifle. although i still need to test out the incendiary scorpio i just found off of last nights story mission

I use at level 40 shotgun that does like 2k x 18. I bought it pretty expensive from a gun kiosk. It fires slow but short range it is deadly as hell.

its the fun part about this games loot system, while leveling its possible to find a gun that's wonderfully overpowered. and then you get attached to it.

don't get me wrong, maxing out a character and finding top tier loot is the goal, but playing through this game is fun as crap too

Same here, all I got were green and white items, wtf!

Compared to borderlands 1, have any of you found even one orange item from a chest? It seems all the different types of chests are useless, from red chests to white chests, the best you ever find is purple. In the first game I found many orange items from red chests on both of my playthroughs, even if it was a low level orange, it was still good. Its like they deliberately made 95% of all the guns useless in this game, I have an army of green and white items, what the hell is the point of chests when you never find anything good in them. Its a sad state of affairs when you see people run past red chests, they know nothing will be good in there.

I have found one orange in a chest. It was Sledge's Shotgun, in the loot room after killing the Leviathan. I got one orange off the Warrior, the Flak Gunner, and I got the Bee shield from Hunter Hellquist. That's with about 120 hrs logged on one character.

I think they nerfed the hell out of the loot in order to give the game more replay value and also to boost their gold key thingy. the 5% rare items thing is a joke, it is just a waste of a slot. money has become a joke, the only use I have found for it is to buy ammo and skins (to eventually get the achievement). At level 50 the only thing to do is go boss farming for legendaries.

At level 50 the only thing to do is go boss farming for legendaries.

That's really all there ever is in RPG games. Diablo 2, farm for items. Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2, farming for items.

I think some people think MMORPG's have an "end game" as well that is somehow different. MMORPG's are the same though. There are multiple bosses to attempt to beat at the end of the game, but really you just farm for items until you can beat the next boss. Eventually there are no more bosses to beat, so you just farm for more items. A new expansion pack may arrive, but then it is just more levelling so you can farm items to beat bosses to farm items.

I think the real issue is that when people beat a game, they wish that they hadn't beat the game yet.

No one complaining about the terrible texture pop in this game? :) I hate when I open a case and the ammo texture is ugly for a second; found a tweak for that, though.

Do enemies indefinitely respawn in some areas? I'm early in the game, I fought the guy mounted to the Bullymong and it seemed like extra enemies just kept showing up. After I killed him more still continued showing up. I wanted to clear the area and look around but I decided to just run out of there.

You can clear an area, for a while. Then certain types of enemies (standard) will respawn, Bullymongs being one of them. So usually it is possible to get time in a cleared area to explore.

For me the only enemies that seems respawning are the flying things that atacks form the air and not that dangerous. all land enemies do not respawn unless you leave the map or restart the game.

Yes agreed these are the only constantly respawning enemies while remaining in an area, I have met as well.

I was talking about respawning in the sense that they will reappear once you return to a cleared area, after a certain time interval. Sorry for not being clear.

Anybody else misuse the quit/save feature to get fast to the nearest fast travel station? :) I do it all the time because I'm to lazy to run through the whole map to get there after some mission is completed.

Only when I'm farming a certain boss or whatever, like getting Bee shields.

Same, unless I'm using a Mechromancer with a hundred Anarchy stacks.
